@ Sapphire: Good work. Icharyd is a nasty spook and Lamahla's a tough wench. Looks like your party is coming into their own.

Keep the news 'a comin'.

CKT.

I may do another update today, not sure though.

Fisherman’s Lake

General:  Our next foray was to the area around Fisherman’s Lake.  We spent a good deal of the time scouting but found enough evil to keep things interesting.

Among our confrontations we met:

   - A Hobgoblin (Orecai) that came up demanding healing and gold.  Obviously he was deranged.  He isn’t anymore.

   - A large group of Gnolls that were attacking the famed Drizzt Do’Urden (not sure what THEY were thinking). They’re not thinking anything anymore.

  - A couple of Ogres that are now ‘feeding the earth’ as Jaheira likes to say.

 - A team of Half-Ogres that were the culprits behind Bjornin’s wounds.  We avenged him and returned later to tell him. He was grateful.

 - A few other monsters including groups of skeleton’s, Gnolls, a couple of Ghouls/Ghasts and a bear.

Key Event: A big-mouthed, pompous, overconfident bandit named Teyngan approached us and demanded our money or our lives.  He even introduced his girlfriend Jemby and a big Orecai named Zekar.  We actually conducted a quick retrograde, regrouped and attacked.

We started them off with one of Dy’s fireballs to prepare the battlefield. Zekar died instantly and big mouth was seriously injured.  Minsc and I closed on Teyngan and killed him easily.

The only challenge was Jemby who seemed un-phased by the fireball.  However, once Minsc and I got to her we made quick work of her.

Treasure of Note (Legend: S=Sold; GPU=General Party Use; St = Me; Mi=Minsc; Kh=Khalid, etc; Sb = Spellbook): Medium Shield +1 (from Bjornin)(S); Mage Robe (Fire Resistance)(S); Potions (Healing)(GPU); Scrolls (Chromatic Orb (Im), Larloch’s Minor Drain (Im); Miscellaneous scrolls, armor, weapons, bandit scalp (S) (S); >200 GPs

Heh, I've been doing at least one update a day. I remember when I was doing one like every few hours with full screenshots. It was way too much.

Also, good job on destroying some half-ogres, and taking out those bandits!

I'm trying to knock this on the head to get into TotSC solo so excuse the rush and abuse of the plot etc.

Dinus, LG human male paladin.

With Cloakwood mine flooded I make my way to the city of Baldurs Gate. Scar wants me to do a job, but first Halbazzar Drin reads me a book taken from the local thieves. Aldeth Sashenstar turns up asking for help again. I can detect no evil inside the merchants league so accidentally swing my warhammer through a locked desk. Aha.

The doppelgangers never stood a chance, and with Aldeths sword (Kondar) in my hand those in the Seven Suns are even less fortunate. I exit straight into the sewers where I quickly use Spiders Bane to work through Schlumpsha the sewer king, Ratchild and an ogre mage.

I grab the helm of Balduran, then sense a house full of evil nearby so break down the door to deal with it (I'd like the cloak from Quenash without destroying reputation or waiting for Kristin to add some collateral damage). I'm unable to kill anything, just managing to get out alive. I vow to return later and instead negotiate the freedom of a nymph from Ragefast. Ramazith isn't pleased so I pulp him in self defence before he can teleport up to safety (don't need the tome of intelligence).

Varci Roaringhorn has a noble quest (and a shiny shield) to which I readily pledge my cause. I take a wrong turn and get poisoned by Marek but must press on for Varci. On the way Lothander tells me of a cure and I find the two paths intertwine. Jalantha Mistmyr must pay for the death of an innocent child, meaning I get to keep another book to read. I've got the shield and two pairs of bracers too.

Black Alaric must have thought his cave was a safe hiding place. I'm inside before any of the sirines can charm me, then slice two flesh golems apart (level 8 reached) and do the same to a third on my exit. The sirines dire charm me but my PfE keeps my mind together and I run the charms off.

Duke Eltan wants me to investigate the Iron Throne HQ so I agree. Without moving I tell him the Iron Throne leaders are in Candlekeep and I should go there instead (another resource-heavy battle avoided; at the expense of the ring of freedom).

This is how I find myself within the fusty old library again. Reloads still 1 (Davaeorn/ghouls).

Dinus, LG human male paladin.

Koveras hands me a magical ring. I thank him and continue to where I will meet Tethtoril. Instead the gatewarden arrests me for murder. I'm innocent so relieved when Tethtoril frees me into the catacombs.

Strange things are afoot down here so I must investigate (2 reloads trying to break into the three crypts, lightning bolt and boots of speed are not a good match).

"Elminster" and "Gorion" are doppelgangers; I retreat so two follow and a third wastes a mirror/haste combo. I have PfE and DUHM running when they wear out so with Kondar it is a one-sided fight again.

I re-cast PfE and run to the west of Prat (he has nothing I want), past a phase spider and two basilisks. Is this suicide - perhaps not as I'm saving vs death rather than petrify/polymorph.
Image IPB

Tamoko is waiting for me outside the Sorcerous Sundries and points me to Slythe and Kristin. He dies but I have to rest before going after her, leading her in a game of cat and mouse (until she cloudkills Quenash). When her carnage is unleashed I kill her too.

I go looking for Cythandria at the Iron Throne HQ, finding Zhalimar Cloudewulfe instead. I run downstairs and quickly buff (oil of speed, PfE, DUHM, greenstone amulet) and return.

Aasim is dead, while I am uninjured (AC of -12 will help). I move in to Diyab only for Cythandria to pipe up (oh joy). As he collapses (77/101hp, flame strike & evocations) I rush to Naaman (77) and then Alai (77). Ughh is closest (77) then Aargh (78, regenerating) and the doppelganger (67, critical hit by Gardush). My PfE has worn off so I cast another, DUHM has gone too and Gardush has landed another critical (52/93). I use my second DUHM, chunk Zhalimar and hit Gardush seven times until he is defeated.

Cythandria shadow doors as I enter the corridor so I wait and kill her when she returns. The oil of speed is still running as are my second PfE and DUHM.

(that was amazing, never done that room anything like that well before with either party)

Dinus, LG human male paladin.

I'm buffed for the coronation (oil of speed, PfE, DUHM). The hasted greater doppelgangers outflank me and even three blasts from the wand of sleep can't keep Liia and Belt alive. Reload 4.

I have a second go, this time the wand takes out a few more doppelgangers and although I cannot save Liia I do manage to kill the other three before Belt expires. Then I finish off the sleepers (not sure what else I could have done, strength potion perhaps).

I'm toe to toe against Sarevok, taking a couple of hits before switching to Ashideena and criticalling him for 15. Immediately he announces a re-match and vanishes. Belt sends me after him but I have other plans.

PfE, DUHM and the greenstone amulet account for Kirian, Peter, Lindin and Baerin. I grab a third girdle, sell some items and recharge the amulet (12300gp at Feldeposts, is this normal or have I just traded at the wrong place) before heading to Ulgoths Beard.

I agree to help Mendas but also Shandalar who transports me to an ice island (I have a couple of multiplayer server control issues here, nothing major just have to enter the ice isle twice). I glug potions of invisibility and absorbtion then kill Dezkiel to grab his cloak, taking about two minutes in total (1/3 done).

With sea charts from the counting house I charter a ship only for it to flounder and have to swim to a nearby island.

I'm ready for whatever I need to face here (although I should have grabbed some bracers from Meilum).
Image IPB

Lots of villagers here. I check, to find only Jorin (who?) is evil. I agree to help them and rest before heading to the north of the island.

Palin and a bunch of wolfweres attack. PfE then DUHM gets me past them (not going to clear the islands, taking a direct route). Then I kill Jondal and Kryla before agreeing to help Dradeel. He suggests I use the ring of free action, PfE and DUHM to clear out Baldurans ship with a twist of the greenstone ring at the top, and that I rest in his hut after every stage. Exactly.

I emerge unscathed from the first level, slightly wounded (78/93) from the second and (80/93) third. Daese beats my greenstone activation (aura not cleansed) but I save and decide to attack Karoug first. He's dead and I'm a bit battered (89/101) but I kill three of the remaining five before my PfE expires. I re-cast it and kill number four then finish the last one without DUHM (83/93hp). So much for Karoug.

Dradeel grabs his spellbook, conveniently forgetting to apologise for the two lightning bolts that almost killed me. He vanishes.

Kaishas Gan tries to betray me. I kill her evil henchmen and outrun the rest until I enter some catacombs. I have to kill two more in there, and then kill Kaishas without getting injured. I manage to navigate back to Ulgoths Beard and as my buffs are still active I have a few choice words for Mendas.

I have to re-buff mid battle, but kill Mendas and Baresh without injury either.

Reloads : 4 (1 Davaeorn/ghouls, 2/3 catacomb traps, assassinated dukes at coronation).

Dinus, LG human male paladin.

The final item on my checklist before returning for Sarevok is Durlags Tower (I'm applying a 3 strikes policy so may not complete it).

I grab some bracers from Meilum, get my items identified and make sure I have suitable equipment for the tower (not really checked so may have to return for other items before descending too far).
Image IPB

I PfE DUHM past a pair of battle horrors and a doppelganger and into the tower. No side-quests, just sort out the evil. Almost immediately I have a magical tome in my hands, but Hurgan Stoneblade reminds me I'm looking for a dagger. I read the tome before returning.

The dungeon is fraught with traps. I avoid what I can and rest where I can but a lightning trap almost kills me. Enemies fall one by one until the four warders all admit I have solved their riddles. I buff (greenstone, PfE, DUHM) before a final talk with Love.

I am badly wounded (52hp, 1 cure) by the time Love perishes. I attack Fear (52hp) before Pride (2 blue gulps and 17hp, switched to war hammer eventually). I cure what I can and buff, then seek out Avarice. I get a few minor backstabs (23hp so 3 backstabs of 6 damage each and a couple of misses) but I win through.

I have to rest several times in the doors level, eventually getting trapped in the throne room (grumble, CTRL J. IMO this part of TotSC is still a mess after the patches). I'm fed up so I just grab the portal activation stone, then the level exit stone, run the gauntlet of undead and take the correct exit to the next level. I can hear a series of fireballs going off nearby.

I could kill a series of greater ghouls but it is more fun to entice them into the fireball circle. Then I outrun an ashirukuru and shut the door on it before killing some more greater ghouls. It appears four challenges lie ahead (I'm just wondering how to kill the fission slime - can't remember if flame arrows count so might do the skeletal platform to scavenge some).

Reloads : 4 (1 Davaeorn/ghouls, 2/3 catacomb traps, assassinated dukes at coronation).

Lonely Peaks

General
: Anything but lonely in the Lonely Peaks area east of the North Nashkel Road. Things kind of started slow as we worked away along the southern border of the area but we turned northward and found a couple of the peaks the area is named for.  As Khalid skirted them Hidden in Shadow he spied a group of Half-Ogres.  We sized 'em up and cut 'em down without difficulty.

In that same vicinity we found an Ettercap Cave and killed its owner.  As is usual with Ettercaps, there was a trap just inside the door of the cave but Khalid detected it and disarmed it before it could be activated. He'd quaffed a Potion of Mind Focusing earlier which I'm sure helped.

As we crossed eastward from there we encountered a group of three bandits led by another 'mouthy one' demanding our money.  They are permanently out of the bandit business.

Later we came upon a farmer whose cow was being attacked by a large group of Xvarts. Unfortunately we weren't able to kill them all quickly enough to save his cow but, as he said, "at least they won't be carrying the meat off this time."

Key Event: We met a Gnome woman (maybe) that pointed us toward some Ogres just south of her.  And was she ever right.

Khalid spied about four or five of them and a couple of Ogrillons I think using his Hide in Shadows ability. Once we had the head-count we developed a plan.  Minsc and I would attack through the center of a crop of trees while the rest of the party would spread out behind us and provide spell and ranged support.  It worked and we took them out, relatively easy, but it was a long battle as some of them go.

Dinus, LG human male paladin.

I hit the fission slime twice with my sword then retreat and use two arrows of detonation. The phoenix guards die in melee, but I get badly wounded and have to rest. The air aspect is no match for PfE and DUHM either. Finally, Kaldron. In addition to PfE and DUHM I use the greenstone amulet. I am badly wounded (35/101hp) as I kill Kaldran and I don't have the time to attack the winter wolves, being whisked off to a giant chessboard.

I realise I have no potion of invisibility so chug a potion of absorbtion and run around (two deaths later I get a lot further but escape through the exit before a third death).

I manage two of the three riddles (game refused to accept the bone wardstone so I got annoyed and CLUA'd to the demonknight lair as there was nothing left except the riddle).

PfE, DUHM and greenstone amulet, with Ashideena as my weapon. Attack. Remove magic, I quickly use another greenstone charge but am stunned. Reload. Stunned. Reload (maybe a scroll of protection from magic would have worked).

Stunned, then remove magic (thanks dummyknight). Fireball, ouch. Now he's happy to fight so we trade a few blows. I run to equip my longbow and arrows of piercing (THACO 10, that seems very high). After five misses I return to Ashideena, swig an oil of speed, run and gulp before casting PfE and DUHM. Attack.

He casts fear, I resist. I keep missing him (my THACO is 14, so he's zapping it somehow), then he casts more spells including pain (THACO 18). This is a one way battle that I cannot win, so I switch to plan b.

I lead him to the mirror, smash it and run. Almost immediately he dies so I must have almost killed him. How annoying is that.

I am a paladin and although badly wounded I must return to pick up the dagger. Worse, I spot Dalton and have to rescue him too. With these two tasks done I buff and attack the remaining mirror fiend (THACO now 19). It is hopeless and I have to retreat.

After resting outside I notice my aim has improved so I re-buff and return. The mirror fiend is easily defeated and as my path is blocked I leap (CTRL/J) back to Islanne and leave.

I re-equip and head to Ulgoths Beard. Two groups of cult assassins are extremely irritating but pose no real danger to me. I glug a potion of invisibility to clank past a third group and down some steps. At the back of the basement I take out my longbow and thin down the cultist priests; one gets scared and runs but the others are dead. I carefully buff and attack (died 3 times so game over).

Reloads : 10 (1 Davaeorn/ghouls, 2/3 catacomb traps, assassinated dukes at coronation, 2 chessboard, 2 demonknight, 2 against Aec'letec).

So, to answer the question I asked Vaclavc; Durlags Tower is much harder than werewolf island for a fighter type. Or at least that is how I found it. I could have continued against Aec but had forgotten an oil of speed, the arrows of piercing seemed like a bad choice and he was shredding me in unhasted melee.

Enjoy the rest of your runs :wizard:

Firewine Bridge

General: Next we headed to the Firewine Bridge area.  We’d been told previously that there was good adventuring to be had here.

We met an evangelical follower of Ilmater. He was devout and tried to get us to turn. He became apoplectic when he found out we had two mages in the party. God bless him though.  His heart's in the right place but he has yet to be led to the true God.

We also had occasion to run across a Bard who’d written a lovely ballad of the battle that once occurred at Firewine Bridge.  It was worth every GP of the 10 we gave him for reciting it for us. A nice diversion.

Minsc, always way out front when we’re not in formation, ran into a lone swordsman who boasted just a little too much.  You just don’t challenge a barbarian like that and not expect him to call you on it. We stood away while Minsc and he dueled.  Minsc won but it was very close.

In between all of this we battled and destroyed Kobolds, Zombies, and Skeletons with little effort..

Key Event: When we headed into the dry river bed northeast of the bridge Khalid, just coming out of shadow, ran into a woman, Carsa, possessed by the power of an Ogre Mage. She stated that her party had been destroyed here and she was in possession of a jar that, we surmise, contained the essence of Kahrk, the Ogre Mage. She claimed if she said his name he’d be released and she was desperately fighting to keep from doing so.

Trying to help her we demanded she turn over the jar and she freaked and said his name. She died instantly and he attacked from within a Globe of Invulnerability.

Minsc and I moved in while Khalid stood back and fired off Arrows of Fire we’d just gotten off of some Kobold Commando carcasses.  The girls stood back and pelted him with spell after spell. Finally, his globe began to weaken and the spells, arrows and sword blows began to hit repeatedly.  A tough foe but, now, a dead one.

Treasure Acquired (Legend: Sold (S); General Party Use (GPU); Stanley (St), Minsc (Mi), Khalid (Kh) etc; Spellbook (Sb): Knaves Robe (S); Scrolls (Prot Fire (Ja); Miscellaneous armor and weapons (S); >60GPs

Leader Notes: I’ve done all I know to improve Minsc’s AC but as a Barbarian he can wear no more that SpM. Even with his RoP +1 he’s only at AC2 and takes a lot of hits.

Current Disposition: Resting in Nashkel

Next Steps:  Firewine Ruins

Game Notes/Questions:  I am playing with the ‘Hard Times’ mod (HTM). Much of the wealth of treasure you normally receive for battles playing without HTM just isn’t there, e.g. Battling Meilum would normally yield Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise and a Long Sword +1.  Using HTM you get just a vanilla Long Sword.  Enchanted weapons/armor/magic items are HARD to come by.

Promotions:  During the battle with Kahrk, Minsc advanced to a well-deserved and long overdue 7th Level Barbarian.

Good job, Gate and CKT!

Update on Soren, which is also the last update on him since he defeated Sarevok today. Also, I don't think hes going to do SoA, or ToB until I decide to do the re-do runs.

Soren finished up the other tasks that Scar had for him.
Image IPB

Soren cleared out the Iron Throne building on Duke Eltan's orders.
Image IPB

Next, Soren went to Candlekeep, he spoke to old friends, and new people. He found out that he was a Bhaalspawn. He was also accused of murdering the Iron Throne leaders! Tethtoril teleported Soren into the maze below Candlekeep.
Image IPB
Image IPB

Soren returned to Baldur's Gate. Soren saved Duke Eltan, and the other dukes at the coronation. Then he hunt down Sarevok, and killed him because he could not spare Sarevok, even though he promised Tamoko he would.

@ Sapphire, Good job. Don't think that can be beat - well I guess 0 reloads but that would be amazing.

For my minimal reload, all my reloads have been in the TotSC areas outside the main storyline - well except for Nimbul I guess. Oh well, I like doing it all everythime I play so I'll keep plodding along. One of these days I'll get get to Sarevok but I've still got the central and northern TotSC areas and then Ulgoth's Beard/Ice Island/Durlag's Tower before I get back to BG.

Ugh. Lot's a work to do and try to stay alive.

Thanks Corey!

I know, I think its because Soren is my favorite.

Also, Good luck on the TotSC Areas! I wanted to do them, but I guess I wanted to finish BG first.

I may update the Challenger List later.

Analethene did her chores in Candlekeep. She spoke to Gorion, and got into an Ambush.

Gorion was killed, and Analethene and Imoen made their way to the Friendly Arm Inn. There was an assassin awaiting them. The Assassin was killed, and Analethene spoke with Jaheira, and Khalid. (A/N: Used Sleep on Tarnesh.)

Firewine Ruins

General
: After we completed exploring the area around Firewine Bridge we rested with an eye toward descending into the ruins later.  It just seemed too much a hassle to return to town so we made camp under the bridge and were unmolested.  We descended directly from the ruins entrance east of the bridge.

The big problem here was traps which I'll describe a little more in my Leader Notes. Aside from that we constantly had to deal with the menace of Kobolds and Kobold Commando's with their Arrows of Fire. They posed no real threat.

Here's the cool thing though. We came across a group of six Ghost Knights. They were not aggressive but to a spook they recited the same theme we'd heard in the Bards tale outside.  I'd asked him if it was true after he'd recited it and he said he didn't know - that he'd composed his words from stories he'd heard.  Wow!  Everything he said was true. We know that now because we found the lone knight that had been the betrayer. He approached us later and asked us to strike him down and take his armor.  We did so and returned the armor to the Ghost Knights. Now they rest in peace.

Following the event below we exited through another passage we'd found that came up in a winery that doubled as a Temple to the Hobbit deity, Yondalia.  There we met an ornery Hobbit Priest who actually sells Potions of Healing and Elixirs of Health which we have been desperately trying to find. We plan to return and buy him out after we return to Beregost to buy and sell all the stuff in our already overloaded packs and pouches.

As we left, a Hobbit, Alora, approached us citing our deeds in cleaning out the ruins. She asked to join us. We politely declined.

Then another Hobbit Gandolar thanked us profusely for ending the Kobold threat in Gullykin and gave us 250GP as a reward.  It wasn't necessary but we'll put it to good use fighting evil elsewhere as long as we have breath to do so.

Key Event: Khalid, scouting ahead returned to us to tell us he'd spied what appeared to be a mage and a single Kobold. After sending him in for a second look Hidden in Shadow, he returned reporting that there was an Ogrillon also.

We went in with our favorite tactic. Dy fired off a Fireball from the far end of the hall so that it exploded right at the intersection on the hall where Khalid had seen the mage. We know now it killed the Ogrillon and the Kobold instantly.

Then we moved west toward the mage who was attacking east.  I remembered to quaff a Potion of Magic Protection, luckily, because he got off a Lightning Bolt that bounced back and forth off the wall and through me three, maybe four times but phased me only a bit. Minsc assisted me in the 'pummeling' while Khalid fired arrows and 'the girls' provided intense spell support.  The mage died there.

Then we moved into the hall the mage had been in to find his superior, another large Ogre Mage, another Ogrillon and a few more Kobolds. With my Potion of Magic Protection I was able to deflect his spells and Minsc helped me beat on him.  I thought about quaffing either my Potion of Cloud Giant Strength or Invulnerability but decided I was protected enough. With the remainder of the party adding missile weapons and spells we soon killed him without any harm to the party.  We found another Ogrillon and a few scattered Kobolds after that and the deed was done.

We went up a passage we found in the room the Ogre Mage had come from and found a Hobbit in a home that smelled an awful lot like fresh Kobold. We questioned him suspiciously.  His nasty demeanor led to him to attack us which ended in his death.

We almost ended up with a problem when Khalid decided to 'look around' a bit and opened a chest. Suddenly two Hobbit Enforcers were on us. When we couldn't get them to forgive our slight we exited back down into the ruins and came up in the Winery/Temple hoping the 'whole thing could be forgotten.'  It appears it was as we had no further trouble in Gullykin on our return.  .

Treasure Acquired:  Legend: Sold (S); General Party Use (GPU); Stanley (St), Minsc (Mi), Khalid (Kh) etc; Spellbook (Sb):  Spear +3 (S); Mage Robe (Fire Resistance (S); Potions (Stone Form (Dy), Power (Kh)); Scolls (Lightning Bolt (Dy Sb), Fireball (Im), Chill Touch (S); Miscellaneous weapons, some armor, gems (S); ~ 250GPs

Leader Notes: Khalid was our champion on this adventure. Khalid continued to scout ahead of the party through the ruins Searching for Traps despite the fact that his skills in that discipline are far inferior to Imoen's.  His best skill is Hiding in Shadow.  As a result, Khalid time and again, 'took one for the team,' far enough ahead of us that none of us were harmed. None were enough to take his life but he was the recipient of many, much needed and well deserved, Healing Spells and/or Potions of Healing.

Current Disposition: Resting in Beregost at the Burning Wizard.

Next Steps:  Return to Gullykin

Good job on clearing out the Firewine Ruins!

Update on Analethene.

Analethene killed a Bandit leader.
Image IPB

Picked up Will Scarlet O'Hara, and got a ring for him.
Image IPB

Talked to Firebead, and gave him the book that he wanted.
Image IPB

Talked to Garrick, and Silke. Analethene killed Silke because she wanted Thene (A/N: Nickname for Analethene.) to kill some innocent men. Also, Garrick joined up.
Image IPB

Found an assassin in the Red Sheaf Inn that wanted to kill Thene, but the assassin was killed instead.
Image IPB

Analethene - Cleric/Mage - 1/1
Imoen - Mage/Adventurer - 1/1
Jaheira - Fighter/Totemic Druid - 1/1
Khalid - Fighter/Mage/Thief - 1/1/1
Will Scarlet O'Hara - Bard - 2
Garrick - Bard - 2

Note: Will Scarlet O'Hara is a Mod NPC from Dark Side of the Sword Coast. Also, it wasn't my intention to get Will, or Garrick, but Analethene is going to need all the help she can get until she gets someone else to fill up Will's spot, and Garrick's spot.

Oh, I didn't realise this had taken off. Well, I have another no-reload game now, but I have a few failed attempted which I've been continuing. Just played a bit more with the following party:

Mod: Various
Chapter: 5
Reloads: 2

Merrus, Human Male Neutral Good Druid L7
Str 12 Dex 18 Con 16 Int 10 Wis 18 Cha 16+2
Throwing daggers

Minsc, Human Male Neutral Good Fighter L7
"The Dead Shot" / "Spider's Bane"

Dynaheir, Human Female Lawful Good Invoker L7
Darts

Viconia, Elven Female Neutral Evil Cleric/Thief L6/6
"Ashideena" / Sling

After recommencing, I headed into the sewers to search for the Ogre Mage. Instead I found some Phase Spiders. One hit Viconia and an embarrasing trip back to the temple ensued. We headed back and dealt with the Ogre Mage and his Carrion Crawlers in short order. Miscast Magic alone took out the Mage, whilst ranged weapons and Minsc with Spider's Bane mopped up the beasties.

I returned to Scar only to find that instead of offering me a reward, he simply responded as if I'd given up. No 3000 XP, no 3000 gold (walkthrough). Possibly I took longer than 10 days, but I seem to remember having had bugs with this quest before (Scar disappeared, IIRC). Never mind. I also bumped into Marek and Lothander, who warned me off poking my nose further into their business. I thanked them and ignored them. How much of a threat can they be?

EDIT: Oops, forgot to mention the reloads. The first from messing up the Bandit Camp tent (did it easily the second time), the second from something I don't remember what, but my save says two reloads, so there you go.

@The Fred: Welcome dude. I was just revisiting the first few pages of this challenge and saw that you had mentioned coming over. Glad you finally made it here.

@Sapphire: Is there anyway we can add a note in the challenger update that differentiates between challengers doing BG/TotSC in it's entirety and those just going strainght from Candlekeep to killing Sarevok. I feel kinda dumb with 5 reloads but like I said most of them were out in the TotSC areas that are not directly connected to the main storyline.

Thanks for your consideration. I will abide by your wishes Analethene.
