Ivy, elven Wild Mage, with Imoen, Faldorn, Shar-Teel and Kivan
Soultaker dagger finale
We arrived at Ulgoth's Beard under the effect of Pixie Dust (travelling from BG takes 16 hours). We moved to somewhere safe, conjured up a fire elemental and I had Faldorn initiate the talk. The Enforcers could hit the elemental with some weak spells, but nobody else could hit it. I just had to wait out the fight. I sent in another elemental to speed things up.
Moved over to their main building and mopped up the few that were by the stairs. Faldorn (protected with Chaotic Commands and Remove Fear, just in case) entered the building and lured out a few guards. Rinse and repeat, and the Wizard followed. This bugger was a bit harder to handle but we managed.
Kivan screwed up (just a little) in the basement. Carol happened to see him before I had planned her to, so the Beast was summoned before I had killed any cultists. Kivan exited right away and was given some potions from the party (just in case). He managed to stealth to a corner where only one cultist could see him. They do not fight back unless you are next to them and the Beast can not hear them call (Carol herself can call on it, though). With some careful planning and maneuvering, Kivan could kill all 6 cult guards (needed >150 arrows!).
He got Melfed by Carol:

Kivan shot Dispelling arrow, followed by two biting arrows. Carol was in trouble but now the Beast showed up. Kivan drank inviso potion and exited. Down again, stealth in the corner and hit Carol with another poison arrow from the shadows. Back to the corner and hide. Now they both followed him, even though he was in shadows. Hmm.
He got up the stairs, re-stealthed and backed away from the stairs. Beast and mage both came up the stairs and Carol decided to go outside while the beast stayed there. Perfect.

She was a pretty tough opponent (MM seqeuncer that did a number on Kivan) but not nearly as scary without demon backup.
The way Aec'Letec was positioned was great for me. Inside the building, by the stairs, but behind a bookcase so it couldn't see the exit. Ivy entered and simply threw a Cloudkill far into the room. Aec passed 7-8 MR checks and then croaked. Yay!
(Did you know that you have to go down to the basement in order to get the 16k experience?)
Final BattleI took Minsc back into the party. May as well be a full party for this fight. I gave him a full plate (and packing steel!), Helmet of Defense, some arrows and potions.
Pixie Dust, and enter temple. Imoen looked for traps but didn't find any. Huh? Maybe that part is different with the full SCS add-on here?
I knew the following about the SCS version:
* There is a 5th person there: Diarmid, a Fighter/Mage (like Angelo)
* Sarevok can't be damaged unless at least one of the others are dead
* Sarevok can't be killed unless all the other four are dead
* In Alesia's reports in this forum, I have seen a screenie with a skeleton warrior from this battle. So they will show up in some way
I pondered how to start. The combo of using Winski's amulet (Prot. from Evil 10') and my Cacofiend scroll was tempting. But I decided not to go that route. Instead, I used my trusty Fire Elementals. Faldorn got two of them on the first casting. I knew that was possible, but this was the first time in this game it has happen. What a great time! Sent one in, and Sarevok rushed it.
'Sarevok - weapon ineffective'
Say
what? I though for sure he had a Two-handed Sword of Chaos +2.
That's great news. But now I wanted to trigger the other guys into the fight and get them to waste their best stuff. I moved the elemental up onto the platform. Fight was now on, buffs triggered like crazy. Lots of attacks, but nobody could hit the elemental. All had normal weapons. OK, Semaj could hit with his MMMs, but the elemental is of course immune to the fire component, so the damage from them was small. Semaj eventually cast two lightning bolts. They bounced once in the entrance wall but didn't hit any of us. Diarmid and Semaj now down to Magic Missiles and Chromatic Orbs. That onslaught killed the elemental, but not before the elemental had killed Tazok and the skeleton warrior that replaced him (apparently, the bodies of all four of Sarevok's buddies get used one more time...)
The second elemental had been waiting by Faldorn since it was summoned. This elemental now spent a really long time working on Diarmid and Semaj (lots of Stoneskins, Mirror Images, etc. to chew through). It also had to endure getting Emotioned and Spooked. It saved against Confusion twice, though. Eventually, it killed Diarmid and his skeleton.
Angelo had been away from this fight. Suddenly (elemental was still punching Semaj) he cast Detect Invisibility. Not good, he has lots of spells left. All six of us drank inviso potions (not many left now) and I directed the elemental over to attack Angelo. He took a beating, until he decided to flee with an Invisibility + Mirror Image Sequencer. OK, let's have the elemental kill Semaj first then. It did that and now it was just elemental vs. Sarevok. Hm, I need to find Angelo first. Invisibility Purge seemed like a bad option because that would have revealed my whole party.
After a while, I could see where Angelo was because he drank a healing potion and I saw the text.
"Nicely done, sis!"

Elemental damaged Angelo some more but then it timed out. Wow, this fight has been going on for game hours...
Angelo and Sarevok seemed to stay put, so it was an easy decision to have Faldorn conjure up a third elemental. Angelo was soon dead.
But before gloating over the win, I was curious about the loot these guys had left. Minsc drank a Magic Blocking potion and looted the platform and the other corpse piles. Pretty expected stuff, but this was a cool find:

Hey, I want some of those arrows! They are cool.
Wanna know what Ivy did now? Drank a few Genius potions and scribed the Cacofiend scroll. Could be fun (and approprioately chaotic!) to use in BG2. For quite some time, she will only be able to cast it with Dweomers.

OK, time for 'brother´ to bite it.
(Darth Vader voice: "I have you now.")
Imoen cast Malison
Faldorn cast Doom
Shar-Teel peppered Sarevok full of Polymorph bolts. He saved five or six times, but that was not enough:

Faldorn stepped in and stabbed 'Squirrelvok' with the Dagger of Venom. But it was the elemental that got the last word. Of course - those guys have dominted the gameplay ever since Faldorn reached 200k exp. back in the Ice Age of this campaign...
