Tiny update!

Alright, the group went back to the Tomb area, and defeated a hobgoblin, named Ba'ruk, and his kobold minions. (Imoen nearly died!)

Then, they helped out someone named Charleston Nib, and refused to kill the diggers for the other person. However, because of the idol of Kozah, the diggers were killed anyway.

Ayaka: Mage/Thief - 2/3
Imoen: Thief - 4
Khalid: Fighter - 4
Jaheira - Fighter/Druid - 3/3
Rasaad: Monk - 4

Reloads: 3

Note: Sleep was mostly used, and so was Light Cure Wounds.

@ ussnorway: We'll see what happens. I may decide over Christmas to dual him but right now I'm leaning toward being a straight fighter since I'm pretty sure I can't carry a BGEE character over to BGII.

Have always wanted to play a straight fighter through BGII/TOB until he took Nalia's Keep. Thinking a 20+ level Ftr would be quite a tough opponent late in BGII.

Still, I always toy w/the idea of dual-classing to Cleric at some point between the two sagas. As an Army officer who wants to be a minister after the Army, that would be kinda like a self-persona.

Being so undecided, that's why I often play the middleground a become a Paladin. ofcourse, Paladin's can't get Nalia's keep normally.

couple things after reading parts of this thread:

on pc death: there is a mod that allows for game over on full party death no game over its called i think, i use it at the moment and it sticks with lore (the way it works is, pc is "killed" but knocked out to 1hp and is asleep for the rest of the fight, if all other party members die you get a in game cutscene of your pc disintegrations followed by the standard deathhand movie and gameover screen. if the party wins, the pc gets up, makes a comment and you get a journal entry about it, its all pretty lore stuff.) that said, it does like to bug out if you use custom scripts like the ease of use with scs, i've had to keep the pc with the default custom one.

and on bg;ee transfers to bg2: it works fine, i tested it out yesterday, obviously the new portraits dont carry over nor do the new soundsets (unless you mod them out) and any new items bg:ee brings in (but youll loose all that **** to plot regardless) but your stats and level and everything else carry over just fine. (not sure about the blackguard kit but making kits for bg2 is easy as and there are already a ton of exact same blackguard kits out there)

FYI Druid levels are much cheaper than Cleric and a Fighter that duals late (20-21) can make a surprisingly effective character if you can live with clubs, scimitars, spears and staves... enjoying the run and it's your game as always.

You could always see the stats at the end of BGEE and then create an identical character in BGII using Shadowkeeper or similar.

Used Resist Fear.

Then, went to the High Hedge to get some supplies, and a ranger named Kivan. Which that led to going to Larswood and lying about being a bandit to get into the bandit camp. Then, the group entered the tent, and killed the party inside.

After the bandit camp, we went to the FAI, talked to Elminster and sold some stuff. We headed towards Cloakwood. We helped a guy named Aldeth after Senyad would not listen to reason.

Further into the Cloakwood we went, to help this man find his brother. However, in order to do that we had to take on a crazy spider lady named, Centeol.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Baldr023_zps98fe3c09.png
Sleep, resist fear, bless, and shield were used.

After that, we went to back to an area near Beregost. In which we took out Bassilus!
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Baldr024_zpse444d874.png
Bless, Resist Fear, and shield were used.

Next, the group found a talking Chicken!

We went to the mines and found a group of people. The spells used were Resist Fear, and sleep.

Inside of the mine we fought a man named Davaeorn.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Baldr027_zpsdc0a78ed.png
Kivan's awesome arrow shooting skills saved the day.

Ayaka: Mage/Thief - 4/5
Imoen: Thief < Mage - 6 < 4
Khalid: Fighter - 6
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid - 5/5
Rasaad: Monk - 6
Kivan: Ranger - 5

Note: Putting Boots of the Cheetah on Kivan makes him do three attacks per turn. Opposed to Khalid's two attacks per turn. So, It was a no brainer on this one.

Alright, after doing some things like Rasaad's quest, we finally did things for Scar, like clear out the Seven Suns and destroyed an Ogre Mage.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr028_zps1b435878.png
Nothing really special was done here.

Then, the group spoke to Eltan, and went to clear out the Iron Throne.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr029_zpsbd5de798.png
Minor Spell Deflections, Magic Missile, Resist Fear, and Bless were cast.

Khalid: Fighter - 6
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid - 5/6

We were sent to the Catacombs after being acussed of killing the Iron Throne leaders, we took out some dopplegangers that took on the forms of people that Ayaka knew.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr032_zpsc230381a.png
Nothing really special about this fight.

Then, the group traveled into what appeared to be a cave, and ran into Prat. i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr033_zps3b66a001.png
Used a charge from the Wand of Fear.

Next, the group made its way to to Ulgoth's Beard, and got sent to the Ice Island, where some mages were found, and so was the cloak of Shandalar.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr034_zps741ad6a9.png
I think Jaheira tried to cast Bless but got interrupted.

Next, the group talked to Mendas, and got some Sea Charts and got sent to an Island...Apparently, filled with Werewolves, and into the lair of the evil wolves we went.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr036_zps2907c552.png
Bless was cast, but apparently its affects wore off. Also, Magic Missile, and a charge from the Wand of Fear was used as well.

Lastly, the group returned from the Werewolf Island.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr037_zps157b4ca9.png
A charge from Wand of Fear was used.

Khalid: Fighter - 7
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid - 6/6
Rasaad: Monk - 7

After messing around out in the wilderness, the group returned to Baldur's Gate to finish some business with Sarevok.

First, the group dealt with Sarevok's female mage buddy.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr038_zps57b331db.png
Nothing really special happened here, except I think Jaheira tried to cast bless.

Then the group dealt with Slythe and Kristen.
http://i1111.photobu...zpse53d9d84.png
Resist Fear was used.

Then the group destroyed Sarevok and his buddies.
i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h463/HolyLight101/Ayaka/BGEE/Baldr040_zps858d4c5b.png
Minor Spell Deflection was cast by both Aya and Imoen, and a potion of Mirrored Eyes was used too.

Ayaka: Mage/Thief - 7/8
Imoen: Thief < Mage - 6 < 9
Khalid: Fighter - 8
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid - 7/8
Rasaad: Monk - 8
Kivan: Ranger - 8

Reloads: 4

Note: I also had the end game crash bug, but then I re-did the fight with Sarevok, and got the ending. Also, I may wait for the next patch before I start another playthrough. Well, At least I still have BG2 and all the mods I want to playthrough with it.

Continuing his exile by choice, Zbyszko led his followers further into the wilderness, trekking through Mutamin’s Garden, Spider Wood, Lion’s Way, the Fishing Village and the Farmlands, finally reaching Ulgoth’s Beard. Upon reaching Ulgoth’s Beard, Zbyszko decided it was time to explore Durlag’s Tower.

Zbyszko’s efforts to avoid a confrontation with the Flaming Fist have been successful. Meanwhile he continues to drill experience into his followers as they march toward a confrontation with Sarevok.

These recent adventures have given Zbyszko and his followers a healthy respect for Basilisks. Twice Zbyszko has to make use of the party’s ‘Stone to Flesh’ scrolls for his own needs. It is a testament to the loyalty of his followers that they readily revive him when circumstances warrant – as he does them.

So far, Zbyszko has cleared the main and upper levels of Durlag’s Tower.

Key Event: Battles with a group of Red Wizards in the Spider Wood, some pesky Ankheg’s near the Fishing Village or Battle Horror’s and a Doom Guard near Durlag’s Tower all rate as definitive challenges. However, taking down a Ghost/Wizard on the 3rd floor of Durlag’s Tower as easily as they did is probably the key event. A loss here could have served as a token of serious trouble ahead in Durlag’s Tower so taking the Ghost out without a scratch to any bodes well for Zbyszko. Three separate strikes with a Wand of the Heaven’s from Rasaad softened him up for the final kill.

Posted Image
Zbyszko, we valuable backup from Rasaad and his 'Wand of the Heavens' took down the ghost of a wizard in fine fashion!

Zbyszko and his followers fought a tougher battle against a Succubus on the 4th Upper Level of the tower, one that three times found Zbyszko Dire-Charmed and his followers running for cover but eventually the party overwhelmed the demoness.
Treasure of note:  Zbyszko’s purchased a Greenstone Amulet in Ulgoth’s Beard, Ajantis a Cloak of Displacement & Neera Aule’s Staff +3

Current Disposition:  Resting, recuperating, resupplying in Nashkel

Next Steps:
Continue up into the lower levels of Durlag's Tower

Zbyszko took another Reload last night in DsT. That makes six.

Party is struggling in 'trap infested' dungeon's while Imoen duals from Thief to Mage-Thief (two levels to go).

Rasaad can detect traps a little bit and Yeslick is using his Cleric Detect/Find Traps spell. Neera is helping with locks we can't open or 'force-the-lock' on by memorizing a Knock Spell each time but we still have to go VERY slow.

Even with that, the party's taking a beating. So far Zbyszko is resisiting the urge to sit Rasaad on the 'BENCH' for a while and go pick up Coran from the Cloakwood.

Will probably post my next update over on your link Sapphire.

Zbyszko’s heroic reputation grows. Tales of his exploits grace the lyrics of song in every Bard’s repertoire. In every tavern throughout the Faerun, patrons drunken & not-so speak the name Zbyszko w/awe – many claiming to have known him or met him @ one time or another. It’s said that Zbyszko & his loyal & powerful followers recently laid siege to Durlag’s Tower, conquered all within & then vanquished a terrible Demon Knight who’d made that terrible place his lair. And while the tales grow wilder by the telling, their essence is true.

Key Event: While therewere many mistakes, two nearly perfect battles lay claim to being the key events in Zbyszko’s brilliant success in Durlag’s Tower Labyrinth Levels.

On the 4th Labyrinth Level, knowing ahead of time that battle with a Demon Knight lay beyond the next door, Zbyszko’s strategy led allowed him to vanquish the demon Knight in less than a minute. The only shortfall here is that Neera was torched to death w/a Fireball & that same Fireball took Rasaad out of the fight. This may have been averted had Zbyszko asked Neera to use a Spell Thrust before casting Greater Malison. While this victory is the one that all the Faerun is buzzing about…
Posted Image

… The unsung winner of ‘Key Event’ goes to Zbyszko’s perfect victory in a madman’s game of Chess on the 3rd Labyrinth Level. Not one scratch fell upon Zbyszko or his followers. Zbyszko’s patience in not assaulting the chess board was key. He purposely gave his opponent the initiative & when there was no movement, Zbyszko had Imoen probe with a Wand of Fireballs into the front rank. It destroyed a number of Pawns & weakened a Knight. W/that knowledge & the fact that his opponent remained motionless, Zbyszko had Neera cast Greater Malison in the front rank of Pawns just in front of King & Queen position. A follow-on Fireball led to serious damage to the King & Queen, a Bishop & more Pawns. Still no movement to retaliate. Zbyszko continued the artillery barrage until his opponents pieces were utterly destroyed & easily claimed the victory & The World’s Edge +3, a ferocious Two-Handed Sword +3 that Zbyszko gave to his friend, the Paladin Ajantis.

Even so, it may be the fact that Zbyszko led his party through Durlag’s Tower w/o the assistance of a Thief. Imoen is still dual-classing from Thief to Mage-Thief & is unable to use her Thieving skills. Rasaad’s limited ability to detect traps, Yeslick’s Clerical spell Detect Traps & the Mage spell Knock used by both Neera & Imoen helped but there were many ‘crushing’ moments.

Treasure of note:  The Practical Defense (Plate Mail) +3, Kiel’s Helmet & Krotan’s SkullCrusher (Mace) +2(Yeslick); World’s Edge (2-Handed Sword) +3 (Ajantis); Pellan’s Shield +2 (Zbyszko); Soul Taker Dagger; Arla’s DragonBane (Sling) +3 (Neera)

Current Disposition:  Resting and recuperating in Nashkel

Next Steps:
 Return to Ulgoth’s Beard

Level Up:  Neera to Wild Mage/Level 8; Imoen to Mage/7//Thief/7; Yeslick to Ftr/7//Clr/7; Zbyszko to Ftr/8;

Zbyszko’s legend grows as the tales of his exploits grow taller. Before the echoes of stories about his vanquishing a Demon Knight in Durlag’s Tower were even finished reverberating, new stories had him destroying Wizards on a mysterious ‘Ice island’ & another terrible Demon far to the north in Ulgoth’s Beard.  It’s whispered that, “like a ‘holy apparition’ he appears out of nowhere to destroy evil throughout the Faerun.” Evil, it is said, has cannot hide from the wrath of his gentle goodness.

Indeed, Zbyszko & his followers, did destroy several wizards in an island prison &, w/great difficulty, defeated Aec’Letec.  Zbyszko will not let you forget that without his followers, he’d long since have been destroyed & forgotten in the wilderness south of the Nashkel Mines.

Zbyszko’s team of mages, Neera & Imoen, are a tough match for any wizard & they proved so on ice isle. The combination of Spell Thrust by Neera &, a moment later, Greater Malison by Imoen were too much for the wizards’ defenses in the tunnels of the isle.

Posted Image

Key Event:  Zbyszko & his followers fought three highly charged battles to infiltrate & destroy the Cult of Aec’Letec. After defeating them in the street, Zbyszko withdrew to rest unmolested. He returned & took out a second group of defenders inside the cult building a day later. Both fights were difficult & took all of the group’s skill & prowess to win, especially w/o taking any losses.  Again Zbyszko withdrew only to return the next day intent on heading into the basement. Expecting resistance, Zbyszko, Ajantis, Yeslick & Rasaad quaffed various Potions of Giant Strength (Zbyszko Storm Giant) & Magic Blocking or Shielding. Yeslick cast Protection from Evil 10’. Descending the stairs they immediately fell into battle with Cult Guards & Aec’Letec. Zbyszko & the other fighters attacked the Cult Guards intent on killing them first while Neera & Imoen focused on breaking down Aec’Letec’s defenses. After killing all the Cult Guards Neera cast Cloudkill & with great difficulty Zbyszko, Ajantis & Yeslick finished Aec’Letec. Imoen & Rasaad were killed. *

* I took one reload here. Not sure what happened. This is the 2nd time in this run that my PC is just suddenly dead w/no obvious source. I’ll take the hit & attribute it to Aec’Letec but I sure didn’t see it.
Treasure of note:  None

There is truth to the phrase, “confidence is good, but overconfidence sinks the ship.” While, in hindsight, it appears this is not the reason the inhabitants of Balduran’s Island found their way there, it’s certainly apropos to Zbyszko’s journey to that Lycanthrope infested place.

Zbyszko & his followers had a tough going @ Balduran’s Island. The culprit? Wolfwere’s.  Especially, Greater Wolfwere’s! Zbyszko managed to get to the lair of a powerful Greater Wolfwere after battling through many lesser Wolfwere’s, Vampiric Wolves & various other Wolves thinking he was assisting the local populace. The Greater Wolfwere was EXTREMELY difficult to kill & Zbyszko lost both Ajantis, his Lieutenant & Neera, his senior Mage for the remainder of his time on the Isle.

Posted Image

After defeating the Greater Wolfwere & saving the village, Zbyszko returned to share the ‘good news’ only to find he and his followers, now down to four, attacked by Werewolves. Yes, that’s right. Wolfwere’s on the north of the island, Werewolves in the south.

Zbyszko rescued a baby, recovered a ‘man’s’ lost brother & even a small child’s dolly only to be attacked by them viciously. Eventually Zbyszko was directed to a cave complex & managed to get to a ship the village had completed for their own use. Even here, he once again had a battle against a Loup Garou before he, Imoen, Yeslick & Rasaad could finally depart for the Ulgoth’s Beard.

All the Faerun is abuzz with tales about Zbyszko’s heroic rescue of Duke Eltan & his confrontation with  Sarevok in the Ducal Palace. No one knows for sure what happened but Duke Eltan and Duke Belk confirm the basic facts. Those facts leave there to no doubt that Zbyszko is an honorable and noble knight. They also make very clear that Zbyszko and his followers are a powerful force for good.

Regardless of the specifics, what is known is that Zbyszko did rescue Duke Eltan from an assassination attempt and he did save the city, and the Faerun, from domination by Sarevok. It is said that Zbyszko and his followers took the fight to Sarevok and his minions deep beneath the city of Baldur’s Gate.

In my fantasy mindset, Paladin’s & their subclasses equate to members of the monastic military orders of the Crusades. I organize them this way; Paladins equate to Knight Hospitaller; Cavaliers to Knights Templar; Undead Hunters & Inquisitors to Teutonic Knights.

That said, I’m introducing Behmen von Bleibruck of Candlekeep. Behmen is modeled after the movie character of the same name who acts as the protagonist in Season of the Witch.

Posted Image

I was originally going to play him as an Inquisitor or Undead Hunter. However, in the movie, Behmen deserts from the Teutonic Knights. To try & portray his fallen status, I’m stripping him of his Paladin status & playing him as a Fighter/Wizard Slayer.

This class works well, since the movie plot has Behmen escorting an accused witch to a monastery to have a curse (Black Plague) lifted from the land.

* Note: This game would be even more interesting if the ‘Hard Times Mod’ would work with BGEE. The ‘plague’ could then be associated with the Iron Crisis.*

Behmen von Bleibruck is Lawful Good but has Neutral Good tendencies @ times.

I intend, at least now, to keep w/the typical comrades & play them throughout Baldur’s Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast & then onward through Baldur’s Gate II Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal.

I envision dual-classing Behmen to Fighter/Wizard Slayer-Cleric at the beginning of Baldur’s Gate II as he tries to recover some of what he lost when he deserted

Key Event:Character creation – took three days to develop this character idea

Treasure of note: Absolutely none

I, Behmen von Bleibruck, have trained to be an Inquisitor all my life. Working under the tutelage of Monks & Warriors of Candlekeep, I received my commission. And then, I walked away from my order shortly after acceptance. Wrestling with demons that have tormented me mercilessly all my life, I turned away from what I truly wanted most. Before I ever set foot into the Faerun as a Paladin/Inquisitor I gave up my dream. Only Gorion, my step-father, knew of my decision…and the loss of the powers that would have gone forward with me as a Paladin/Inquisitor. His connections allowed me to retain some skills toward the elimination of practitioners of Dark Magic and I have honed them the best I can.

Now just scant months from that event, now a Fighter/Wizard Slayer, I am thrust out upon the road, away from the security of his lifelong home in Candlekeep. Gorion is dead, & the demons inside me continue to dog my heels.

In the span of only a few days, I’ve gone from the doorstep of the Candlekeep Inn to a Commoner’s Room in an inn in Beregost by way of the Friendly Arm Inn. I am accompanied by follower’s including my childhood friend, Imoen. Gorion gave me the name of two companions I was to seek out should he & I become separated, which his death brought to fruition. Khalid is a knight w/Longbow skills, & his wife, Jaheira, is a Druid trained as a fighter herself. In Beregost, the four of us assisted a mage named Neera &, after defeating his evil mistress, picked up a Bard named Garrick.

Key Event:I have defeated four assassins, a Red Wizard w/a couple of thugs, an evil mage, a handful of Gibberling’s & their diseased cousins. I have no question; however, that defeating the Assassin Wizard, Tarnish, on the steps of the FAI has been the key to my early success. W/the help of a guard @ the FAI, Imoen & I were able to defeat him despite my taking two separate Magic Missile blasts from him. We picked up a little booty from his person, including a spellbook (which had his name on it). Imoen has the spellbook – wonder what she’s doing with it.

My followers & I have completed the short trip s from Beregost to Nashkel. The roads were somewhat challenging for a party so inexperienced. We battled 2 Ogrillons; had a run in w/a Flaming Fist Mercenary; fought a pitched battle w/6 Hobgoblins & took out a couple of Gibberling’s.

The Ogrillons carried a letter addressed to, “My dearest Marianne” from “Roe.” I feel I need to find this Marianne & deliver its good tidings to her.

Shortly after arriving in Nashkel, we met a Ranger, Minsc, who asked our assistance in rescuing his companion, Dynahier, from a Gnoll Stronghold w of Nashkel. In agreeing to do so, I had to make a difficult decision to release Garrick from his service to me. While that service has been minimal from a combat standpoint, his friendly personality will be missed. Still, I feel I need the ‘sword arm’ of another warrior @ my side & having a ‘Bard of my own’ might just bring forth pride, something I don’t need out here on the road, for Pride, it is written, leads to destruction.

We were offered a mistakenly offered opportunity to collect on a bounty that was due someone named Greywolf. Honesty won the day & we garnered a measure of respect and gratitude for our efforts.

Key Event:Once again, found myself in a battle for my life against an assassin. I assume this one was a Cleric but I’m not sure she was serving her deity, at least directly, no matter how evil that deity might be. No, it appears she, like the others I’ve faced, was acting on a bounty notice from some unseen hand. She managed to get off an Entangle Spell but aside from that, we took her down using bows, crossbows, sling stones, a Magic Missile from Neera & a Doom Spell from Jaheira.

Treasure of note: The Eyes of Truth is a Helm of Infravision & while I could use this in a dungeon setting, I am going to sell it and use the gold to purchase a Long Bow for Minsc, who as a Ranger has been trained in that weapon skill as well as his immense 2-Handed Sword. I have found my Crossbow, @ times, to be a real combat multiplier. Minsc w/a Longbow will make us even more difficult for any foe close to us in experience.

Current Disposition: Resting, Recovering, Recuperating, Resupplying in Nashkel

Next Steps:
West to the Gnoll Stronghold to rescue Minsc’s charge, Dynahier

Level Up: Jaheira has improved to Warrior/2//Ovate/2. She’s been granted a 4th 1st Level Spell. Initially, she’s chosen Doom to compliment Armor of faith, Bless & Cure Light Wounds, which she was already using to our benefit,

At Minsc’s request, I decided to head w to the Gnoll Stronghold to attempt to rescue his companion, Dynahier. The journey to the stronghold turned out to be more challenging personally than the stronghold itself.

Twice, I fell in front of my followers to the swipe of a Cave Bear’s mighty paw. As I mentioned in my last note, inexperience is our greatest foe here in the vastness of the Faerun where we are ‘like a mist that appears for a little while, and then disappears.’ Only the honor of my companions allows me to use my quill @ this moment. Twice they carried my belongings the Temple of Helm @ Nashkel where the honorable priest, Nalin cast Raise Dead to restore my person, for a suitable donation of 100gp on each occasion.

Key Event:While my run-ins w/Cave Bears are obviously fresh in my own mind, our victory @ the Gnoll Stronghold is a success for all of us & has increased our confidence. We really had little trouble w/the Gnolls and their Xvart slaves. Although, once we’d rescued Dynahier & were mopping up the sentries outside the walls, I took two deep wounds from one Gnolls’ Halberd that reminded me how quickly I could arrive @ a dirt nap if I’m not more careful.

Sadly, I had to make the tough decision to part ways w/Neera. I cannot afford more than five henchmen. Maybe it’s for the best, b/c I found myself becoming attracted to Neera & I’m sure the feeling was mutual. I need my focus & so do my henchmen. Depite her disappointment, as a parting gift, Neera gave the party a Gem Bag she'd had when we met her.
