Would anyone else like to hear more North American accents in future DA voice acting?

Now in DA2 even Isabela who hails from Antiva has a British accent. And when Hawke gets accosted by Kirkwall locals they tell him: "You sound Fereldan."
I wish Hawke could reply: "But I sound exactly like you do, you bloody idiot!"
I have nothing against British people, but I think British accents already had their day in the sun. Perhaps some variety is in order. Especially when the game is exploring other regions of Thedas. Must we be subjected to the same accents from Ferelden to the Tevinter Imperium?
I simply cannot identify with a protagonist who has a British accent. When I hear a British accent it brings back memories of the awful Star Wars Episode I-III. It also reminds me of the fact that my Head of State is an old lady overseas.
I hope they hire Mark Hildreth for the next voice protagonist. GO CANADA errr I MEAN GO STEN!!! He's a good voice actor that can do many voices, give him a chance.

As long as voice acting is good, I don't really care about accents
This. I'm north american and I identified just fine with Hawke's voice.
Though I certainly wouldn't object to hearing Bruce Campbell and Nathan Fillion playing Dwarves or somesuch.

I don't see why Bioware has to use British accents everywhere. Back in DAO, most of the voice acting, from NPCs to companions had British accents.

I'm English so what exactly do you mean by British accents having had their day in the sun ? We still exist you know.
Besides, in other worlds of entertainment, principally the outpourings from Hollywood, American accents and actors already dominate. So its nice to have some balance. And frankly, Eve Myles (Merrill) Welsh accent was rather lovely. Yep, I've lived in Wales to.
And what's this about the accents in Star Wars ? Are you taking a swipe at dear departed Peter Cushing and Alec Guiness per chance !

Yeah, this game should definitely benefit from some variety. Imagine dwarfs with texan accents! GOTY! do it Bioware.
Ferelden's should get the Texan drawl.
It's on the southern frontier after all.
Dwarves ... I'm thinking Jamaican.

I meant that British accents had a near monopoly in DAO and DA2, so I would like some variety.
Star Wars Episode I-III: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and all that terrible crap.Star Wars Episode IV-VI: the good old classics.
So just to reiterate. British accents were everywhere in DAO and are still prominent in DA2. I just want some variety. I'm not advocating for the total removal of British accents. But I would prefer to hear more North American, Latin, Eastern European and other accents to add more variety and immersion. After all, people from Ferelden and Tevinter Imperium should speak with different accents.

Well, no actors there speak with a 'British accent'. There are many accents in Britain for starters. Local accents within England itself, from the south country ( Devon and Cornwall for example) up to the north, with their yorkshire and Lancashire accents which are markedly different.
Dragon Age has Scottish accents, Irish accents, ( most of the Dalish and Irish is NOT British). Then there is the afformentioned Welsh, With some added home counties. It also has American accents, Flemeth and Varric for starters. Wynne was also American. AS was Oghren. It has Australian, that been Claudia Black. Corrine Kempa (Lelaina) is French,
And so on, so I don't see the claim these two games are dominated by 'British' accents quite holding out.

North America is the same. There are a ton of dialects and accents. *shrugs* Someone just hears one and says OH! American! But hearing people from different parts of the US alone ( Canada not included, which has a ton of its own) the accents/dialects are very different. It is pretty interesting actually, but not really video game relevant for the most part. If an accent is similar enough to sound "country" based in a game, it will likely fly. Meanwhile, if they put someone from Newfoundland, Quebec, Alabama and Brooklyn in the game, they would quickly hear the differences from North America lol People hear California in many shows and movies and say OH America! The same way people from N.A hear some guy on the BBC and say, Oh British. Generalizations. Inaccurate technically, but they usually have the same general body of land correct

The majority of the voice acting found in Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 possess accents commonly heard in the British Isles. That is a fact. Thus it is fair for me to say that British accents dominate the landscape in the DA series so far.
From NPCs, to Hawke(s) and a majority of companions, you hear accents found in the British Isles nearly everywhere in DAO and DA2. The accents from North America currently form a minority in these games, and that includes Varric and the few examples you mentionned.
To a North American person, Scottish, Welsh, English, Irish all sound very unusual yet similar enough. You explain the difference between the accents found in the UK. I could also reply with the difference found in North American accents. People from Brooklyn and Texas all sound differently.
But the fact is that the sum of all the dialogue voiced in
Scottish + Welsh + English + Irish accents far surpass the amount of dialogue voiced in
New York + Southern American accents + what have you
That's why I would like more variety.

It really doesn't matter to me as long as the VA is of good quality. But, if you think of the lore behind Dragon Age (or any medieval type game setting), that would be European type lore anyway, so maybe the accent fits the zeitgeist.
"Where Misnc goes, evil stands aside."
"Go for the eyes Boo, GO FOR THE EYES!! RWARRRR!!!!"
"Evil, meet sword! SWORD MEET EVIL!!!!!"
I think Edwin had an Eastern European accent. Imoen spoke with a North American accent. Korgan had a British accent. So did Irenicus.
When the protagonist of Baldur's Gate casts spells and such, he has a North American voice. So a lot of variety can be good
It doesn't have to be almost all accents from British regions like in DA series.

That is because of where the stories take place. The Free Marshes are clearly a different country than Fereldon. It has more foreigners so you have Orlesians (French) and Antivan (Spanish) accents. The Kirkwall accents seem to be more Middle American than BBC British. The accents are nation based which reflects reality.
