Personally, I find it hard to take an American accent seriously in a Medieval Fantasy setting. Now, I love America, but the US doesn't have a medieval history, identity, culture and society to it.
I will say that good voice acting is most important, but I prefer seeing British & Old World accents over American in a medieval/ancient environment. However lovely the accents are, having people speaking like their from New York, California or the South just sounds completely out of place in an medieval/ancient environment.
Would anyone else like to hear more North American accents in future DA voice acting?

American accents just sound ridiculous in a pseudo-medieval setting. It kind of works with the elves and the dwarves because they're fantastical races, but hearing modern Americans in fantasy? No.
The Tevinter Imperium should have italian or greek accents, or something.

Where would these accents fit in the world? Only the dwarves(and Alienage elves, strangely) have American accents, and because there weren't many dwarves in the game you didn't get many of the accents you wanted to hear. Simple.
Besides mainstream TV is saturated with American accents, I don't exactly miss them in my games.

Honestly, I don't even notice the accents, one way or another. I do notice when lines are delivered badly, though, like moronic-sounding Hugin in Varric's Family Business quest. I cringe when he shows up around that corner and brace myself for some really grating lines.
Could be because I work in the sciences. As long as you understand what the other person is saying, you learn to ignore the accent. Or maybe I'm just going deaf.

Although for a few actors I'd make an exception.

The Tevinter characters I've heard in DAO had German accents close to that of Jügen Prochnow, who is a Berliner.
However in DA2 the Tevinters seem more Middle American, which is considered The American Accent. Now Tevinter is supposed quite big so they certainly have regional accents of their own. Or Bioware could have gone cheap and not hired an accent coach for the voice actors who could not do German accents.

there needs to be more voice acting with accents that add consonants unnecessarily.
for example, saw is pronounced "sawr". makes them sound a little funny, but it's worth the laugh every once in a while.

British accents have been associated with the medieval times for so long that I've began to associate them with the medieval times. It's historically inaccurate, but I'm so used to it that I find it suiting.
I agree that there should be a bit more variety, though. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I heard the elves in DA2 speak with Irish accents. I thought that was cool.

Medieval (fantasy) and American (accents) don't sit well together, imo. If an American accent has to be used in a medieval fantasy setting, it should, ideally, be as neutral as possible. The one and only time I played The Witcher, the first thing that really put me off (other than the stupid GUI) was the obnoxious American voice acting.

I said that American accents in (as they are used in the Witcher voice overs) are obnoxious. IMO, they have no place in medieval fantasy games

In Dragon Age 2 there is a woman in the Blooming Rose, I think she is a waitress or something (I forget her name) who has a really thick American accent. Where in Thedas does she come from?

There is a standard English accent. It's called BBC English which is actually a Canadian accent. Peter Jennings, the late ABC reporter who was Canadian had this accent. The BBC uses this accent because they found that it was the one accent everyone in the UK understood and was not offended by its use.

Isn't Dragon Age loosely based on medieval European history? Fereldan the Anglo-Saxons, Orlais is France, etc.
