As the title states I'm walking past Aria T'soni's place to get to the NPC to go and get thane, but everytime I reach a certain point the game crashes, I've made it past here before, 3 times if I remember right, and no problem at all. I've yet to try re-installing the game, but I have tried re-installing the 1.02 patch or w/e the current patch is and nothing thus far. Thanks for any help given would love to beat this game...

Two different threads dealing with this issue, basically the theory is lowering graphics quality and or advanced options will correct this issue. I have also heard going backwards through the tunnel will also sometimes work.

Not to mention any specs will also help to determine if there may be a hardware issue, but on this one not likely, so look at the threads and if no help then post some specs and we will continue on a different path.

Going with the re-installation option hoping it works thanks for the links. I will also learn to use search function more often. If the problem still happens after I do some of the solutions I'll edit and post specs. Thanks again.

This is my third playthrough, and the first two went OK, but this one has lots of crashes, especially on Illium. I have the following DLC installed:

Arrival, Shadow Broker, Overlord Pack, Alternate Appearance Pack 1 (Garrus, Thane, Jack), Kasumi - Stolen Memory, Umbra Visor (Dr. Pepper), Recon Hood (Dr. Pepper), Sentry Interface (Dr. Pepper), Terminus Weapon and Armor, Collectors' Weapon and Armor, Blood Dragon Armor, Zaeed - The Price of Revenge (Cerberus Network), Cerberus Weapon and Armor (Cerberus Network), Normandy Crash Site (Cerberus Network), Cerberus Arc Projector (Cerberus Network), Firewalker Pack (Cerberus Network)

ME2 patched to 1.02.

DXDiag is less helpful than you think. It presents us with a lot of irrelevant data which we have to try and wade through to find out your specs, when most of the time all we need is the details as they appear in the system summary in the ME2 configuration utility. If we need more, then we can ask.
Your Geforce driver is listed as 6.14.xxx, when we actually require the revision number as designated by Nvidia (eg: 258.96)
Are you overclocking anything? Have you modded your game in any way? Do you use MassAffinity to help equalise the core speeds on your AMD CPU?
You also havent told us where on Illium it crashes either. In certain spots (eg: liaras office), or just randomly?

Sorry if the DxDiag was too much data. No overclocking or mods. Never heard of MassAffinity. The crash I am stuck on is in Thane's recruitment mission, just after you enter the second floor of the tower, it always crashes as I get into the fight there. It didn't do this on my last play-through, which was before I installed Overlord, LotSB, and Arrival.

From the config utility:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Clock Speed: 2672 MHz
Physical Memory: 5.99 GB
Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295
VRAM: 896 MB (x2)
Driver Version: 270.61
Sound Adapter: SoundMAX HD Audio
Driver Version: 5.10.2.6520
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (Mar2009) or later

No worries about the DXdiag info, I know a few other gaming forums whose members swear by it, and people tend to post it out of habit from those forums. 95% of the time, its overkill.
When the game crashes continually at the same point, its normally an indication that a file has become corrupted, and a reinstall would be your best bet.
During the uninstall process, you can select to keep your savegames and settings.
Theoretically, you can just move the DLC folders into another area, and then move them back once you have reinstalled the game and 1.02 patch, without having to go through the hassle of downloading and installing again.

If you run the Steam version of the game, try verifying your cache intergrity first, as that often fixes corrupt file issues.

A full reinstall. OK. At least I am not a steam-user, so I don't have to download 2 DVDs worth of stuff again. I'll post again to relay what happens. I wonder what would have corrupted the files? Before this, the game never crashed, so that wouldn't be the cause of corruption, and the hard disk itself has been fine, never giving any errors, so I can't guess what the source would be.

So what you say right there didn't work at all I just re-installed it today. Opened game, and walked to the part under liara's office and once again closed itself.

Edit: Just tried windowed mode and walking backwards at the same time and worked so I just have to remember to do this thanks for the help ^^

I did say "normally". The tunnel under Liara's office is a known hot-spot for crashing, with it affecting smoe people, but not others. Seenig as you didnt list your specs at any time, we werent able to begin comparing your specs to others, and see if you had one of the video cards or driver revisions that others reported havnig errors with.

I had this problem when I had a pair of Radeon 4870's. The trouble did not go away, until I got a pair of GeForce GTX 460's, set them up and did not force FSAA and the like.

I'm using the 270.61 drivers from Nvidia.

I will tell you this much, anyone with a Radeon 4800 series card will expeirence this.

Checkdisk came up clean, and I did a full reinstall of ME2 and all my DLC. Thane's recruitment mission didn't crash this time, but then Tali's loyalty mission did crash to desktop. Fortunately the crash didn't repeat when I rebooted and resumed from the last save.
