Just curious.  The Admiral was waiting for me when I docked at the Citadel.  Had 9/12 Charm at the time...
could not select the "we need to build bridges" paragon option.

How much is needed?

You sure?
It's apparently 9: http://masseffect.wi.../Morality_Guide

If not, it's 10... I think I remember doing it with 10.

How do they expect anyone to have that much charm/intimidate by then? That assignment is literally the first thing you see after returning to the Citadel after your first mission.

I did have enough Charm to convince him on my first playthrough. Granted, I pretty much was obsessed over Charm and Intimidate, so my other abilities were somewhat lacking. =P

No clue how much Charm it was though at that time.

It's not a mission you're expected to pass: IIRC, that's usually the player's first introduction to the charm/intimidate options (unless they chose to do Noveria first), as every step requires more and more charm/intimidate, but the results are somewhat inconsequential...maybe.

Basically, Bioware's expecting the player to not put any points in the conversation skills (a reasonable assumption),and the snap inspection was their way of pointing out how important those skills are.

That makes sense. Clever design decision on their part, then.

Actually you can get enough before then... you just need to fill the first quarter of either Charm/Intimidate (up to where the bar narrows in on itself, approximately), and you unlock up to 10 points of C/I... all that's left is to put the talent points in while you're leveling up.

Just refuse to let him on board. As a Council Spectre, you can quite happily tell him to sod off.

Tell him to ****** off, it's much more satisfying.

You also don't have to return to the Citadel as soon as you leave. My first time through I'd already finished Therum and Feros, + most of the side quests that I had started there.

I just remember being overjoyed on my 4th playthrough to get through the damned inspection with a half-decent review. LOL

How odd. I could have sworn I managed it at charm level 8.
