I've been wondering what I'd do with Seneshal Bran if I became viscount. Merely replacing him seems to kind.
Perhaps making him work the docks as a barnacle scraper is suitable. What are your thoughts?
The eventual fate of Seneshal Bran...If you became viscount what would you do with him?

I would tie him up and toss him into lowtown at night.

Is'nt he dead? I assumed the Arisok got him in Act 2. Is he in Act 3 and I've forgotten?

You mean after I ravish him in celebration?

I'd get him a cushion so he's comfortable under my desk.

Bran is such a huge queen. I'd totally let him continue his job, and get him a lackey assistant to order around and take out his frustrations on.

I dont know. At some points in the story he is nice and helpful. At other times he is a complete douche.

Well of course, that goes without saying.

I would have him replaced, but only after I punched the secret of his youth out of him.
Isn't he supposed to be Leandra's age and have a teenage daughter? He looks way too young and sounds like Sebastian. Creepy.

I would keep him around because he would think of political implications that I wouldn't. Granted, I would likely never follow his advice but his knowledge of nobility would be useful.

Keep him, on condition that he continues to be as rude as in Act 3 rather than turning into a sycophant.

I'd keep Seneschal Bran in the job (if he would be gracious enough to stay in it), and give him a damn raise to ensure his continuing to provide accurate assessments of the goings on in Kirkwall. Majordomos who are that good are worth their weight in lyrium.
In the game, Seneschal Bran acts as the classic Greek chorus from literature -- he lets the audience know the unvarnished truth of things, that the hero, being too close to the action or sympathetic to the other characters, doesn't choose to achknowledge.
At all points in the 10-year span of the story, Seneschal Bran told Hawke the truth. He said the Viscount's son's personal leanings would cause a political crapfest with ramifications beyond the son; the Arishok and the Qunari were not even neutral enemies; and trouble followed Hawke around like a determined puppy, and Seneschal Bran did not care for it.
Seneschal Bran never glossed over things to Hawke or to make nice, just because Hawke's political star was on the rise, and a true sycophant would have sucked up to Hawke after the whole "Champion" thing. He pointed out that Hawke couldn't be Viscount without getting the support of the templars - that he was "not yet" that person - that means that he had figured out that Hawke could be Viscount and STILL didn't suck up to him.
But if he chose not to continue his employment with me, well, ravishment (with Anders available to treat any *cough* awkward diseases) is always an option.
As a player, I would love to hear his assessment of Hawke's performance after that Act.

No opinion.
Met him a few times, he was a snob, but his usefulness might outweigh that. Just don't know enough about him to decide. He could be extremely important in dealings with other influential people and groups, his position might even be a peace-keeping move between the Office of the Viscount and some noble family.
Just because he's a snob to Hawke a few times doesn't mean anything about his use.

I'd probably keep him on in the job, listen to his advice, even follow it every now and then. And then shortly before Hawke has to flee the city I'd have Bran put forward to be the next Viscount. Let's see how he likes doing the job that seems to get just about everyone killed.

I would keep him around just so he can keep that one dude waiting all day for an audience with the Viscount. (I think he has been waiting 7 years.)
I actually liked the guy, he had a back bone and would stand up to you and give you snark if you gave him snark.

keep him around so the guy who says, "good luck getting in, I've been waiting all day" never gets in

I'd keep him on. He's competent enough, even if he's prone to catching unfortunate maladies at the Blooming Rose.
@Avilia - no, he's still very much alive in Chapter 3. You can even have a chat with him - he's none too pleased with Meredith's trying to rule Kirkwall.

Keep him as an adviser. Even if Hawke doesn't agree with all Bran's assessments, he can at least attend the PR functions in her stead.

Every leader needs politicians to see things someone more sympathetic may not. Allows a more open mind and clarity on possible ramifications of actions, rather than hoped possibilities.

My Hawke would keep him just for the sheer joy of being able to order him around. I'm sure taking orders from a lowly Fereldan would really chafe his hide.

I'd keep him around. But I'd make it a hobby to ensure he mutters "I hate my life..." at least once a day. Also, he would always wonder why I'd occasionally refer to him as "Udina."

@CalJones - I'm such a good explorer o.O. I never noticed him hanging about. Shouldn't he have thrown himself between the Viscount and the Qunari?
Eh, well, then, to answer the OP's question - I'd keep him on. Love his VA using that posh tone (sounds very different to Sebastian) and the way he says 'wounded coast' so portentiously in Act 1. He is useful for doing paperwork and pretty to look at. What else does one need in a secretary?

He's standing upstairs on the balcony in act 3. Though not involved directly in a quest you can have a rather lengthy conversation with him when he explains the current political situation, what it would take to be made Vicount, and why you don't qualify for the job.
As for not throwing himself between the Viscount and the Arishok...I'll assume its because he's not a fool, and knows the sword would continue through his body and kill his boss behind him anyway.
