New engine, no more Hawke and actual choices would be a good start.

Yep. Not to mention multiple races again, tone down the unrealistic combat moves, bring back skills like Coercion, Trap-making and such, being able to equip companions with armor(the entire inventory felt like the Junk section), more interaction with your companions (see Origins), less  no waves, alot less fetch quests, longer dungeons(I really liked The Deep Roads in Origins, 'twas fun!) and bring back Shale, pleaseImage IPB

Coercion exists in DAII.

Trap making was meh in DAO. If it's like in TW2, GIMME:

No thanks, don't want interrogation hour coming back. I want more interaction too. But not Origins style. I want more interaction DAII/TW2 style.

There were more Fetch quests in DAO. Besides, they were optional. Far as I am concerned, get rid of them entirely (Both the DAO "Get 10 toxins for X" nonsense and the "This yours? Yay!" DAII inaneness are awful IMHO)

NO NO NO! Please NO! No more dungeon grinding. Look at the TW2 dungeons for inspiration re: dungeon length, not DAO level grinding!!!

Why? Seriously are you that shallow that what you look like matters because that is all you get with mutiple races unless 3-5 throwaway lines in 70 hours of gameplay means something to you. Race in DAO meant nothing, not one lick of importance. The more variations you have in your "start" the less the game can actually mean to that variation - hell the game handles "mage" as a class pretty weakly overall in terms of story as well so that choice is already problematic and pooorly served adding more "issues" isn't gonna help unless you just flat out ignore it like DAO did.

It may no have been much, sure. But why not have BioWare improve the discrimation against you if you're an elf, or people being frightened of you on account of being a mage. I vastly preferred being referred to as "bloody elf, clean my boot!" instead of things staying the same on subsequent playthroughs. My preference, I guess.

First order of business. Find and destroy this so called "awesome button".

Keeping on topic however, I'm waiting to see what happens in DLC rather than look forward to DA3 right now, if they can improve on the gameplay of DA2 with the improvements that the fanbase has pointed out. Then it should be ok.....should be

Not just the gameplay. *points to fixed protagonist, being heavily railroaded by the plot, thereby removing player agency, the stupid dialouge wheel that should've stayed in ME, and limited companion interaction*

And you call yourself a The Witcher fan-lass? Blasphemy!

Hawke was no more fixed than Amell, Cousland, Surana etc. DAO just offered MORE fixed protagonists.

Completely and utterly. Here's to hoping for a briiliant DA3. CDPR set the bar VERY high, if anyone can make a game better than TW2, it's Bioware!!

There's a difference in authenticity between 'mercenary organisation requests X healing potions to bolster their supply' and 'you found a book, give it to whoever has the arrow over their head', unfortunately. Fetch quests in Origins tended to at least make some kind of tangible sense.

Not that I'd miss either if they were gone, I suppose ^_^

There will be those determined to hate it. I'd prefer to play it before forming an opinion either way. Heck, I was very unhappy with TW2 pre-release.........now I'm utterly bewitched.

Yes, but I could make Aeducan or Surana MY character. I could project my own voice and personality onto The Warden. While Hawke and Commander Shepard are BioWare's characters. The same thing goes for Geralt of Rivia being Andrzej Sapkowski's character. Doubly so for not being able to make him a woman.

Trap making- Not many players used them.
Running around trying to buy flasks ( all type) to make potions-gone for good.
Buying blank paper+ink to make runes-gone for good.

I like DA2 crafting system. I carry runes in the armor and weapon not in my bag's, potions/poisons already crafted and not 99 empty flask, blank sheet and ink.

Both annoyed the hell out of me and I'm avoiding them in either game. Only did all of them in DAO once to get an Import save. Never again.

Not to mention a terrible one. ME2s ending made me want to play ME3. DA2's ending made me curse at my PC. Also, Origins has mutiple endings. I know DA2 has side with Templars, they bow before you and side with mages, Hawke glares at Templars. Does that really count as multiple endings?

I said it before and I'll say it again, at least this cliffhanger isn't as annoying as the s3 ends of Fringe or Castle or the s1 ending of West Wing for that matter.

Of course, I expect something the quality of Shadow of Two Gunmen for DA3, but that shouldn't be so hard for the DA dev team.

There are and have been fetch quests in just about every rpg going including some of the beacons of rpgdom that people hold up. They are necessary in some cases to allow a player to progress at an even, controlled rate. You will not often have really good or involved fetch it quests but a little more care in their writing and or a tweaking of rewards for doing them can make them a palatable part of games.

As an aside, the fact that this news seems to have been broken by a BioWare person saying they are looking for environmental artists is a very good thing.  To me that indicates that they are aware of the back lash against reused environs and are willing to hire more people to work on that aspect of the game.

And I liked Castle for the surprise; disliked Hawaii 5-O for placing a cliffnote on every main character save one....

agreed DA2's crafting system for potions and runes was a definite improvement.

Trap making was only useful if you used the Lothering Trap Girl exploit to get a lot of money. If you tried to set up traps for the corpes in Redcliffe, they disappeared when nightfall came around. That shouldn't have happened. There wasn't a single time when traps could be used because you go to all the enemies, not the other way around. I think that should be rectified or like DA2 did, removed entirely. Either one is good enough imo.

Not sure how to take this news. I'm looking forward to more DA but the thought of DA3 being rushed like two creeps into my mind. I don't want another act 3 + mage ending *shutters*

I loved the Castle season ender, but hate waiting for season four, which is the only problem with cliffhangers :)
