I didn't buy Witcher 2 or DA2, and have no intent to do either. What does that make me?

A big fat loser if either side sees that Post! lol
Seriously, I haven't been able to afford DA2 yet, so I haven't been able to play it.

While I agree an overzealous fanbase can ruin things for you(I mean, heck, I didn't mind Tali until I saw the Tali "doll" and now I hate her), I don't think a single player game applies.

i get a kick out of this when there were bioware fans saying Dragon Age 2 would stomp The Witcher 2 long before either game came out...

No, most of the people who are saying this aren't always saying it to get someone's ire. As someone who's beaten DA2 and was offended by how bad it was when they had DA:O right there, Witcher 2 is by far the better game. I can't see that even being arguable.

Take into account:

- This is their second game.
- They've shown they're good at improving their base game rather than just patch ones or twice
- They're saying all DLC other than expacs are free
- They created their own engine from the ground up to save royalty costs
- The production values of TW2 are undeniably impressive.
- They've always had a FANS FIRST attitude about helping their customers
- They make incentives all over the place that aren't just DLC.

Those things off the top of my head are major to my enjoyment of CDPR as a company. Whereas you have bioware:

- This is the sequel to a great game
- They have tons of games under their belt
- They charge for ****ty reskins and armor packs
- They're using an engine that's been torn apart and rebuilt but is still basically rooted from the Infinity engine
- The production values of DA2 at times were nice, but for the most part inconsistent
- Bioware both seems to listen to the wrong fans, and not listen to the right fans.
- From that, Bioware lately has taken a "throw the baby out with the bathwater!" design choice which isn't very appealing.
- The only incentives they make are DLC garbage and THIS IS THE NEW SHET garbage marketing commercials.

Those things I'd say are the undeniable parts. You can have an opinion on the rest of it if you want, but that's the situation.

I've been a supporter of Bioware for years, but with ME2's derivation from RPG to ****ty romancin TPS game, and DA2's sloppy design and shameless dlc nickle and diming, I simply cannot and won't support Bioware at this point. I don't think I'm getting ME3 or DA3. I have more hope for ME3....but I have no hope for bioware at this point.

Might as well rename it to EA Canada.

Actually, the amount of quality I got from TW2(playing and enjoying the game right now) easily stomps the "OMG I CAN HAZ FACIAL CUSTOMIZATION" for me.

I can actually get over myself and pretend it's not a Bioware game! Problem solved!

I lol'ed about people still calling ME2 not an RPG, to be honest, ME2 is more like an RPG to me than TW2, Shepard is different, it's more like my character, the witcher is just someone else. the things TW2 did good imo are its inventory and crafting, other than that it's just a sword play game, but I dont see how these things make a game RPG or not, you can not even choose class and the distinct way you want to play

In ME2 you can play as 6 distinct classes, In the witcher 2 you can only play one

In ME2 there are 12 biotic powers and 10 tech powers in addition to gun play, in witcher 2 you have 5 signs in addition to sword play

I already consider The Witcher 2 a true masterpiece but I still love BioWare and about half a dozen or so other developers. Hell Skyrim may end up being my choice for RPG of the year.

In Witcher you craft your potions, traps, armor and weapons. To clear a nest of specific creatures you need to find books ingame to locate, find out weakness and learn their habitats. To get them out in the open in big numbers you need traps and lure to bait them.

You can upgrade armor and weapons with crafted enhancments or temporary buffs. Like ME Witcher sings evolve and can be upgraded further with mutations. ME and Witcher 2 are both action based rpgs. Witcher 2 is more tactical that it requires you to learn the enemey and be prepared since you can't heal or drink potions during combat. Hell even meditate can be interrupted by people/monsters.

Shepard is different. Not really maybe his/her look and class but it's not like your given free reign to do whatever you want. Your playing a set protaginist. Is Planescape Torment less of an rpg because your the nameless one?

I just don't get how a game is more of an rpg then another. Isn't it just rpg or not an rpg?

I find it ironic that someone is sick of "The Witcher 2" posts, but makes a "The Witcher 2" post.

In all seriousness though, don't lump the whole fanbase of this game into the troll category. It's a small percentage of people that make these "haha DA2 sux" posts. Go to the over 100 page post about it and you will see mature, well thought out conversation. The post in itself comes across as a teenage rant, rather than expressing your concern about these trollish posts. If you want results, don't try to incite a crowd to support you here, but do something that will actually work; reporting the posts.

I can't enjoy this site anymore.  Can't go a day without seeing "haha bioware in your face Witcher is so much better blah blah blah"

I feel like I'm in kindergarten again where its "my daddy can beat up your daddy"  seriously grow up people.  Its just another game so its meeting every single standards of an RPG in the last 800 years its paying your mortgage and fixed your relationship problems.... some of us don't need to hear it all the time.  Believe it or not The Witcher 2 isn't the only game in existance and some of us would like to go about our business without hearing about it.
So F-ing what if DA2 didn't meet your standards this behaviour makes me wish no game ever does again because you don't deserve a good game anymore.  Hell with Witcher 2 I guess you can go kill yourself because your life is now fulfilled.

I agree. I never really like the first witcher all that much to begin with. (Loved its concept, but its execution was flawed. Still havn't finished a game because of that damn swamp.)

However fan's don't stop there. I enjoyed DA2 for what it was despite its flaws, but I can't express that without being trolled eight ways to sunday by people in the DA2 forums!

The Witcher fanbase??? what the hell are you smoking??? there is no fanbase war it's still the same RPG fans bull****ting over the failure that DA2 was armed with new ammunition in form of the "The Witcher 2". Haters gonna hate and apparently whiners gonna whine....

While I don't feel as strongly as the OP, I will say that I am getting a bit sick of wading through countless Threads about The Witcher to see if anything else looks interesting.
I don't understand why it can't all be kept in a single Thread? For the most part, that's what's happening with Skyrim.
I'm not going to try to take away from anyone's excitement or enjoyment of a Game...but c'mon...use the Thread that's already there.

If you don't have a brain that is a size of a peanut you would have clearly seen that it's the BW fanboy that is fanning the fire.

After you learn more about it and play it, it will be. The Witcher 2 is nowhere even close to how amazing Skyrim is going to be.

Depends on what you like more. If Skyrim is like other games from Bethesda so far, the best is exploration, but they are rather weak in the main plot, not to mention their story-exploration ratio. For all I enjoyed Morrowind or Fallout 3 , I often forgot the game has a main plot I was supposed to be following. It just lacks focus. That´s in fact my main problem with DA2, lack of story and character focus most of the time, and worse exploration in a game I´ve ever played.

Skyrim is about the open world gameplay. Story and characters are not it's strong points unlike DA:O ME and Witcher. Honestly it's not comparable. Elder Scrolls and Gothic maybe.

Witcher fans pretty much ruined Witcher 2 for me as well.

I doubt I'll get that game any time soon, unless nothing interesting comes out this summer.
