I'm Well aware that  in ME's future universe genetic tech has alllowed people to have  near perfect human  figures, but still you would think there would be some tubbies hanging around. Right now in the early 21st century  obesity rates on earth are sky rocketing especially in the west, I doubt  the discovery of alien tech and contact with intellegent life 100 years later would erase humanity need to eat stuff thats bad for them.

I'm sure some will the  say the lack of lard arses  is due the amount of character models availble to the devs, but  if Dragonage can do it  ( I''d always seen DAO as ME's Shy smart plain little sister unitll DA2 when she suddenly became like Jack   ) so can ME  and as Judge Dredd and many great sci-fi have proven fat people are funny espcially if bad things are happening to them check the intro to Vanquish for example

Fat guy running away from a horde  of husks  would be funny yet realistic at  the same time, since not everybody  on Earth can get Gen enhancements  right?

And if you think Im being silly think to previos human colonies Feros, Eden Prime & Horizon not a single fat NPC not even a beer belly

So come huh when Earth burns lets see a  more representive view of one most idiototic and stubborn species the Universe has even seen.

Nah, genetic alteration is very common in ME,

Everyone has been genetically enhanced some way.

Mass effect fields stop people from getting fat.

That and I would imagine we dont see fat people for the same technical reason we dont see many female aliens or children.

Model issues :)

Because you can either have a couple over weight models, or something that actually does something of use. You choice

Genetic enhancement. Referenced in the Codex somewhere.

It's really just a polite way to say that fat people have been expunged from the gene pool.

Jokes aside, there's really no point in making a whole new model for an issue (the lack of overweight people) that can be handwaved with some Codex fluff about genetic modiftication ot just plain ignored.

It's also worth noting that 98% of humans live on Earth, and we've only seen the types of those who don't, as we have yet to visit Earth.

Actually it was more dependent on socio-economic status.  People from the arcologies or joining the Alliance did get ready gene therepy wheras those from the slums, they didn't unless they joined the military.

Which means only the poor would be overweight and everyone knows the only poor people in space are the Quarians.

Iniertial dampeners only work on a solid hull. The outlying blubber on fat people would sheer off every time the ship jump into or dropped out of FTL.

Space Travel requires a well trained body. I don't think they'll send an overweight or underweight person into space even if they pay since they would be a flight risk and may just die dureing travel. After all, their bodies aren't toned for space travel.

spaceflight/-life is very demanding for the human body. Anyone not on earth should be in very good condition. that means most of off-world speices chould be in shape. Maby a few exeptions from characters who were born in off-homeworld-places and never left their easy life there. But those are not the characters you encounter during your high-risk adventures.
And it's lots of extra moddeling and animating that should be used to create very lively worlds and other environements.

Hell man, maybe medi-gel regulates the BMR (basal metabolic rate)? Maybe it's just hard to get enough sustenance to be fat.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Quarians have implants that regulate their basal metabolic rate to prevent them from gaining weight; which would be understandably catastrophic. If medical technology in the game has advanced enough to implant things into peoples spinal cords, why the hell couldn't they implant a device into the thyroid and hypothalamus to control hunger and BMR. Basically every time you start to gain a few pounds, your neuropeptide levels would decrease and your BMR increases, making you burn more calories and have less desire to satiate. Lots and lots of things could do this, theoretically.

Did you read the news article earlier this week that talked about the location of the "Obesity" gene? In 10-20 years we could have gene therapy drugs that prevent people from gaining weight. Who knows where we could be in 200 years?

Clearly Bioware is full of bigoted ableists.

Seriously, I imagine there are no fat people for the same reason there are no fat astronauts.
