Hello, I'm right about to start another playthrough of Dragon Age Origins, possibly buying Awakening and the DLCs later if I feel like it. The last and only time I've played before was like a year and  a half ago, and it was done rather haphazardly (for example I left Sten to die, killed Leliana when I tried to be badass at the Dragon temple and never got any of the Dragonscale stuff.) So now I'm going for another try, and I'll be playing as a human rogue. I'm going to run a Human Rogue + Sten + Morrigan + Leliana (hoping that Sten can tank since I'll be a meek Cunning rogue with little avoidance), and I'll try playing at hard/nightmare. I played Mass Effect 2 easily on nightmare, and at the start of DA2, but some fights with loads of assassins or big boss fights like the High Dragon made me turn it down. I remember having to turn options down to easy in DAO though; those Revenants are insane.

I've read from the DPS calculations thread on rogues, and it seems that an dagger/dagger DW build with a focus on cunning (and getting lethality) is the ideal DPS build, even if others are decent. Unfortunately I have almost zero idea on stat allocation in DAO. I remember that you get several stat tomes in the Fade, so I'm not sure how much Dex I need to get, whether or not I should get any willpower, strength or constituion whatsoever and so forth. If I recall right, you need 23 dex to get lethality which makes cunning your "best" stat. But since you have a certain base dex, a bonus for being rogue and human aswell as get free points in the Fade,  AND get str/dex from some of the gear, I'm not sure how much dex to get or when to get it.

The stat allocation for dagger/dagger cunning from the DPS calculations thread is;
Str: 15 + 5 (to wear T7 light armor early)
Dex: 21 + 9 = 30
Cun: 20 + 46 = 66

Does this mean that 15 str is the str you get from base + Fade, and that you need to manually put 5 extra str into your Warden to wear the best medium armor? Is the 21 Dex the base dex + Fade dex, while the + 9 dex means that I don't just want 23 dex for Lethality, but rather 30 Dex for wearing items or getting the ideal Rogue talents? I'm guessing the 20 + 46 cunning means that you get a base+Fade cunning of 20, and that after putting 9 points in dex and 5 points in str, you should pump everything else (+46) into cunning?

Really would like some tips on how to build my rogue, any items to watch out for etc (because at least for me, the entire game wasn't very obvious the first time, very much unlike ME2 and DA2, which didn't seem to have much "hidden content."

Cun rouge daggers is good but actually dex deggars does more dammge. Heres a good topic which I made a while back for a duel weilding warrior and even if your character is a rouge it should still sufice: http://social.biowar...index/7278739/1

Armor wise battle dress of the provocateur is pretty good if you have Leliana's Song DLC

With my rogues, after the fade, they should have a base 15 strength, and then I get the extra +5 from accessories, rather than spend attribute points raising strength manually.

I like to go 50/50 dex/cun with my rogues and leave everything else at the base amount. If I import to Awakening, then I'll start putting points elsewhere as a rogue with 75 dex/cun has more than enough of each.

Don't forget that dexterity also raises attack+defense. Lethality only uses your cunning total to boost damage, so if you neglect dexterity, you'll have to go out of your way to make sure your rogue doesn't have accuracy issues.

Going for an almost pure dex dagger/dagger build I think, with 2 cunning and 5 strength and the rest into dex.

Don't forget that a DW cun rogue (unlike warrior) has Song of courage which is beneficial for the whole team. Plus a cun NPC doesn't have to waste too much points into coercion/stealing/Deft Hands trees.

As said, I'm going with Leliana in the party so obviously I'm not going bard. Thanks for all the replies, I think I've figured stuff out now.
