After the disappointment of Dragon Age 2, I really hope Dragon Age 3 turns out good!

To improve on the series Bioware has to:

Get rid of reused areas!
Coherent story that is not disjointed
No plotholes!
No glitches(although I doubt this will litterally happen)
and Romances that feel genuine not just clicking on a heart to unlock a sex scene!

I agree with most of your points there, but I think that romances are genuinely unnecessary

I'm totally seconding the reused areas.  I liked that DA2 wasn't same-old same-old though.  I liked that time jumps and the gaps in Hawke's story.  Glitches are inevitable in any game.  :):):)

I, however, Must Have Romances.  They add a huge dimension to the characters and I like seeing that side or different characters.

Well, I can only hope that the game is fabulously successful and still pisses off the hardcore fanbase.

So.... if Bio sticks with a player character who's somewhat more restricted than the one you had in DAO you'll stick with a franchise that has a completely predetermined player character?

Exactly what principle are you upholding here?

I just hope the game does not come out 2012 and comes out late 2013/early 2014 and fixes some of the issues with DA2.

I agree with most of your points there, but I think that romances are genuinely unnecessary and futile, although they add some reality, and some spice to the game, but I could live without it, love and occasional kissing would be enough, and it would take some PG rating off the game. Your 100% correct about the reused areas, and the incoherent story. Glitches are inevitable, but I hope that they will be sure to remove all the ones that give you infinite gold and Exp, because those ruin the whole point of the game, and the thrill to ascend a level. I have other suggestions of improvements, but they are so big and controversial, that they'll need other threads.

then DA3 should be mostly about romances from party members, to enemies, to random NPCs. then everyone should love it(sarcasim obviously). though i do think being able to romance just pretty much anyone would be intresting.

would be nice to import your Wardens(1 from each origins) and your Champion(obviously male and/or female)and be on 1 team though not sure how that would work out.

Hrm... if the release date is really Feb 2013....

Taking into consideration a couple months of time between the game being sent off for mass production and if Bioware barely started work on DA3 as of this month, it's about 17 months, give or take a few.

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't seem like a lot of time.

I find it odd nobody noticed he said 31 February 2013.

HE is upholding the principle of making quality rpg. Yes it has a irk that the witcher doesnt have a character head morph, nobody is perfect and yet it doesnt stop it from being ten time better than the turd that his DA2. Small flaw can be overlook when a game isnt terrible.

Its appaling to see the biodrones try to lash out at TW2 when they should be rejoice that a great rpg has hit the shelf.

I would also like to add side-quests that have deeper meaning. Less side-quests with more depth instead of twenty fetch quests.
Each side-quest should be highly unique even if there are only a few of them. I'd rather have ten brilliantly well done side-quests than twenty fetch quests, and twenty "wipe out random bandits" quests.

These are the first adjustments you need to make Bioware.

Three times the charm maybe? here's hoping DA:3 will be a combination of both praised aspects from Origins and DA:2 with some of its own uniqueness thrown in.

Looking forward to it...

Meh i really hope DA franchise returns to origins... I don't want a dragon age 2 sequel...I refused to puchase the game after i finished it at my cousin home... This time is better if they shows people evrything... And stop with marketing and pr lies...Just make a nice rpg and go..

Da2 was a disaster... We are really lucky that exist company like cd-project that have care for their fan and put love in the work they do... Ea dictates: We want a dragon age game for every years.. Bioware says: Yes mistress!...

Bioware don't exist no more.. now bioware is a part of EA they are EA.. Its very clear at this point...

R.I.P bioware... you bring us awesome rpg in past.. but now you are part of EA..

I really hope they can change my opinions.. But right now i don't thrust of bioware

What Bioware should really do is just take their time, put in the things that made both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II great, add a few ideas to the mix, and I think Dragon Age III will be amazing.

I suppose he could probably get away with that point of view by saying that it is not that Hawke was pre defined but because Hawke was pre defined to be a knob. Personally I dont think Hawke was as bad as some people make out but I cant deny there were some points I would have liked to strangle him just to stop him from spouting those woefully lame jokes (seriously who writes the jokes for the Dragon Age series?), it was almost like playing Michael Thorton again.

Seems to be true.
I bet it will continue story from DA2. I also bet you will be able to choose character to play, somewhat like Origin. And I also bet your choices will be Warden(import or new custom) or Hawke(import or new custom) or Cassandra(custom) or Varric(custom).

I cant tell, is that supposed to be a joke or are you just that naive?

I hope Hawke returns. Talk about having it all over the Warden! Oh wait, the Warden can't talk, so it looks like Hawke wins.

Too many people are programmed to need a boring DAO/BG hero a super bad icky monster. I'm glad BioWare is challenging people's preconceived notions. It's a shame so many are shrinking away from the future.

The DAO hero had a much bigger impact on the game plot than Hawke did in DA2, so I wouldn't personally consider someone of such importance "boring." There's a reason why DAO was such an immense success. It didn't gain its fame from being a boring game with a "super bad icky monster."

If Bioware wanted to experiement with something different, they could have made a new game entirely (since that's what DA2 is anyway, basically.)

I just don't understand why Bioware felt the need to fix something that wasn't broken. DAO was a huge success for a reason, so why change it to the point where its hardly recognizable?

That's like taking the Mona Lisa and painting a giant blonde wig on her. Why change what people loved and adored to begin with?

Meh, I've just had that on my chest for a while. Looks like you happened to be the victim of my venting. haha.

Anyway, I hope DA3 will make up for DA2.

I just want Bioware to get enough time to finish the game they want to make.

I'm unsure as to whether my issues with Dragon Age 2 are a result of conscious design decisions or a result of botched execution due to the shortened development time.

I personally find Dragon Age 2 to be a mish-mash of unrealised ideas that lacks cohesion. It tries to be "cool", innovative and accessible at the same time, yet fails at all 3. It is an opinion only, but one I feel is very valid.

It should be much more like DA:O than DA2 was, back to the good old gameplay we've liked since BG2. :)

Bring back the isometric camera and get rid of the dialogue wheel, that should be a major improvement already.

I think it is great news. I welcome DA3. My only hope is that it returns more to its Origins gameplay (isometric) and inventory/mechanics, but keep up with the more social aspects of DA2 (party members actually seen having chats and cutscenes together, more interaction between PC and party members/romance partner, party members using their special skills or knowledge to help out in scenes, etc) and keep the bi-romance choices for love interests.

No voiced protagonist, and many more varied roleplay choices in the dialogue list/wheel would be divine, too.

So what was the secret behind Origins success? What was it that Origins or even Awakening had that DA2 was missing? Not trying to be an ass here I just want everyones honest opinion without the hyperbole.
