Greetings,

While the developers are working on fixing DLC authorization and performance issues with the next patch (1.05), there's been some talk of coordinating all those community-generated bug fixes in one place so people can access them more easily.  This topic will attempt to do that.  We need your help!

Here's what we're looking for-- some information and a link to an unofficial mod which *fixes* a bug in the game.  Specifically, what we're looking for is:

*Mods that ONLY fix KNOW BUGS.
*Testimony from someone who can confirm it works, and it doesn't break anything else in the game
*EDIT:  Adding... Confirmation that it works with patch 1.04
*A link to the mod and instructions to install... preferably a link from the Bioware Social Network's "Projects", but we'll also accept links to other sites, like DragonAgeNexus.com.

What we're NOT looking for:
*Mods that allow cheats to the game
*Mods that modify spell effects, textures, or character models.

So, for example, we're interested in something like the "Ancient Elven Boots" fix.  We're not interested in something like the "Trailer Edition" model pack.

Eventually, your contributions will be put into one, permanent post that will be pinned to the top of the forum.  It's also possible that these fixes will be collected into one file so they can be installed all at once.

You don't need to be the author of a mod to nominate it for this list.  Also, we ask that you keep replies to this topic limited to adding mods to the list.  Discussion about the future plans for DAO can be posted here.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here's a fix that has worked in-game:

Ancient Elven Boots fix-- allows players to get the pair of ancient elven boots, which were suppose to be available in the Lothering chantry.

Jowan's Intention Quest Fix
http://social.biowar...m/project/2976/
Jowan's quest is badly broken in Origins, this mod repairs it.

Awakening Silverite Mines Bugfix
http://social.biowar...m/project/3569/
Another game breaking bug in Awakening that Bioware never patched can be prevented with this mod.

Sigrun's Roguish Past & Law and Order fix
http://social.biowar...m/project/3129/
This fixes the infamous bug of Sigrun's personal quest.

Awakening Rune Fix
http://social.biowar...m/project/2577/
The problem with the runes in Awakening is that the new high level ones work different than in Origins while for some of them it definitely makes no sense.

DLC in Awakening and Awakening Fixes
http://social.biowar...m/project/2310/
This mod allows to use every Origins DLC in Awakening and most importantly replaces the wrong model of Vigilance if Warden's Keep is installed.

Yuriah's third store upgrade
http://social.biowar...m/project/3142/
The problem with Yuriah's upgrades are manifold, because some paths to the final upgrade still don't work with the newest patch.
For example you can't get it if the Qunari in the Silverite Mines is missed or if Law & Order is completed instead of Smuggler's Run. Although I found a simple solution for the last problem.

EDIT: removed Qwinn's Unofficial DA:O Fixpack

Misc. Dialog fixes
There's the odd conflict that takes some fiddling to get all of these to run together properly but they all appear to work and not cause any issues for me.
Zevran (ZDF): http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=928
Morrigan: http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=1120

Additional but conflict prone - most issues addressed in ZDF
Alistair: http://social.biowar...m/project/2573/
Leliana: http://social.biowar...m/project/1852/

Awakening Blackblade Armor Dragon Drop Fix
What it says on the tin, dragon now drops the the right loot.
http://social.biowar...m/project/2602/

Also seconding the fixes listed by Shard of Truth - have used all (except the Yuriah one) and had no issues post 1.4.

Awakening Helmet Fix
social.bioware.com/project/3836/
Restores the textures of Cailan's Helm and Soldier's Heavy Helm, which in Awakening get overwritten by those of Helm of Hirol's Defense.

Dragon Age Rules Fixpack
http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=1601
Fixes several combat, spell and item related bugs. ONLY install folders marked with "Fix". Folders marked "Tweaks" might alter the game in a way not intended by Bioware.

Damage Statistic Fix
http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=1911
This mod increases the maximum cap for the "Damage Dealt" statistic in the heroic accomplishments window. Players with Awakening and DLCs can reach the default of 999999 easily, which causes the game to ignore further "Damage Dealt" data.

Seconding the ZDF Dialogue Fix and Morrigan Restoration Patch. They also play well together.  ZDF corrects more than just Zevran's dialogue bugs, including all of the bugs in the Alistair mod (as well as several others for him), most, if not all in the Leliana mod, fixes to other companion dialogues including Sten and a host of other issues such as incorrect epilogue slides, various issues with dialogue with all the NPCs if Allistair is not king and several endgame plot flags that were firing incorrectly (i.e. the Dalish boon was granted if Lanaya was alive whether the Warden chose it or not).  The most current version of ZDF is only up at Dragonage nexus right now.  MRP is available in both manual and DAzip versions and works fine with ZDF, though it is easiest to install the DAzip of MRP with ZDF.  It may not be considered strictly a bug fix as it restores some omitted scenes that had VO in the game files but were not triggering either by design or by oversight. Alistair Dialogue Patch and Leliana Dialogue patch will conflict with ZDF.

Qwinn's unofficial fixpack does conflict with nearly every other fixpack/mod out there and incorrectly "fixes" several of the dialogue bugs.

I have used the Ancient Elven Boots fix with no problems.  There is a second mod that includes the ancient elven boots along with other items that don't drop due to bugs here. I have only used it for one playthrough but had no issues with it.  Both must be applied before the player enters the area in which the loot should drop or they will not work.

Awakening Blackblade Armor Drop Fix has already been mentioned and works well.

Awakening Silverite Mine Bugfix works beautifully to prevent the infamous lost gear bug in the Silverite Mines. The fix must be applied before the bug has occured or it will not work.

Dragonage Rules Fixpack mentioned by StoneTheCrow has individual fixes for a number of different skills and spells that do not work as described (fixes) as well as including some play tweaks such as auto-loot.  The fixes can be installed seperately, so the tweaks could simply be ommitted.  It is officially still in beta, but I have played dozens of hours with the fixes only and have not encountered any problems. The list of fixes is LONG so I have not included it here; but they are listed in the description of the mod. Edit to add: Two of the tweaks in this pack have a few potential issues, The helmet removal tweak can result in loss of helmet during after scenes in which the game removes the character's clothing (Flemmeth's hut, Urn of Sacred Ashes, Ft. Drakon) and can also result in loss of helm if switching from the No Helmet Hack to this tweak.  The auto-loot tweaks can slow the game and make it choppy, particularly if the character's inventory is full/nearly full.  As both are clearly tweaks, they don't really apply here, but the pack as a whole has those issues.

Golem Registry and Shapers Life Reward Fix dumps all of the rewards into inventory upon quest completion instead of the one for the player's class, but otherwise works perfectly.

Also seconding Sgirun's Roguish Past Fix.  It works perfectly.

Thanks to everyone so far for their contributions. One thing I forgot to mention in the original post (I'll add it)... is that we want to make sure this is working with version 1.04 of the game. Chime in, please, if this is not the case.

Thanks!

Ahh I hadn't spotted any conflicts in-game so thanks for that, mainly installed it for the Ostagar fixes but could probably live without them.

The restored Alistair dialogue at Ostagar is in ZDF and I *think* the mage's chest key issue was fixed in the most recent PC patch but I'm not positive.  There are actually several things in the latest version of his fixpack that were fixed in the latest patch and a pretty much all of his dialogue fixes were identified by him using the ZDF and MRP change logs.

Qwinn's Unofficial DA:O Fixpack
http://social.bioware.com/project/2563
Appears to solve a lot of issues listed that weren't addressed in 1.4 but occasionally does something very odd to Shale's character model. EDIT: Has conflicts with misc. other fixes and mods, see post from sami jo below.

Qwinn's is not solid for 1.04.  It is only sure to 1.03.

Just a sidenote for the dialogue fixes ZDF Dialogue Fix and Morrigan Restoration Patch: They work flawlessly with localized versions of Dragon Age but the fixed parts are always in English.

Groovy - I'll go back and edit my post, thanks. Find it hard sometimes to ferret out all the tweaks people have done so  this thread is definitely a good idea!

Thanks to ShinsFortress  too :)

No helmets hack http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=202 a fix that definitively must be added to DAO, as the option already exists in DA2, ME1, ME2... Confirmed: It works with 1.04.

This is not a fix, this is a hack or a tweak.  Please abide by RaenImrahl's intentions and keep preferences, tweaks and cosmetic mods out of this thread.

Umm, sorry. I know technically it is not a "fix" because it was not intended originally in DAO that you could remove helmets, therefore it doesn't "fix a bug". But it isn't exactly just a cosmetic tweak that alters skins or textures. It gives you a function that should be there. The proof is that they included the option in DA2. It is also standard in Mass Effect. I put forward that something like it should be included in the next patch, however perhaps I misunderstood the strict guidelines, in that case ignore my suggestion.

No worries. I agree with Kastagir on this one... we're looking for only in-game fixes for this primary list, not necessarily features that were not in the original game. However, once we see how much we need to supplement the impending 1.05 patch, we can always begin work on a secondary list for "enhancements" to the game.

Thank you all for your contributions thus far. Please keep 'em coming!

Alistair's boon dialogue needs to be fixed as it's not setting the proper plot flags. That affects not only the epilogue slideshow but possibly importation into DA2. I'm not sure if one of the dialogue tweak mods listed above fixes that issue or not, but I fixed it by gff editing the .dlg file. (Also, I'd love it if that dialogue resource could be fixed in the toolset. It shows up completely blank.)

This is fixed with ZDFalong with several other end-game plot flags.

I'd like to think this important to the topic. If we keep posting multiple fix packs like ovi_187's and others, we will eventually get fixes that do the same as others. My question is does this affect the game in any way? If I have a billion fixes for the aim bug (over multiple packs) that all correct it (assuming they all set it to the correct value) does anything negative occur?

Terra X had a fix for it, but she used scipting (I think). Are there other non-scripted fixes available?

If two or more mods "touch" the same file, only one will be called (generally the first one the game runs across). That said, if different mods fix some but not all of the same things, or fix the same things differently and one fixes it "better", those different fixes could be combined into a single mod. That is why modders provide b2b (builder to builder) files. The combined "Official-unofficial" fix-pack that devs have mentioned would do that, so pointing out different mods that fix the same thing is still a good idea.

You raise a valid point, one that crossed my mind a few hours ago.  I propose this:  for now, let's list potential fixes, in total.  Once we're ready to move forward and compile a master list, I'll lock out this thread and create a new one with the appropriate links.

It is also possible that this list will help Luke Barrett (of story, song, and Bioware legend!) to come up with what he terms an "official unofficial" compilation of these user-created fixes... which would necessitate *someone* making a decision about which version of a fix should be used.  He posted this recently in the DA2 forums:

Luke Barrett wrote...

*snip*

As to the question of these (and a few other) issues being fixed in DAO/A with a patch to that game: all the bug and report work is written up for all the DAO/A issues that were brought up as still occurring over the last month and we're working on freeing up resources to work on that. Unfortunately, any time reactivity (plot flags) is changed it must be fully tested in both the game it was changed in as well as EVERY subsequent game to make sure nothing breaks further on - this is an insanely time heavy process. In the mean time, I'll be gathering a bunch of community made fixes for DAO/A and doing a quick test case on all of them to check the validity of the fixes and then bundle them together as a sort of 'officially unofficial patch' for everyone.

*snip*

Adding... this is one reason why it's important, when nominating fixes in this thread, to include details about just what said fixes do. Can somone dig up the details of @ovi_187 fixpack and post here?
