RaenImrahl directed me here. I posted this elsewhere and they thought I might get quicker help if I posted here. I'm just taking all the help I can get right now.

Jim has been overloaded in graduate school and is unable to oversee his thread here. He isn't even on the site often enough, long enough, to read and reply to PMs the past month.RaenImrahl wrote...

For anyone who is interested in knowing what to use with Improved Atmosphere, this is what I pulled out of the readme:
Improved Atmosphere encompasses:
- VANILLA BUGFIX: "Shaper's Life" and "Golem's Registry" side quest reward
- VANILLA BUGFIX: Soris acknowledges that you spared Caladrious
- VANILLA BUGFIX: Made stealing Nugbone (crossbow) from the Mines Commander possible.
- VANILLA BUGFIX: Made stealing Dwarven Defender (crossbow) from Captain of the Guard possible.
- VANILLA BUGFIX: Fixed vanilla game bug where NPC's could get stuck in an infinitely repeating animation upon the player's re-visit of the module (Lothring).
- VANILLA BUGFIX: Added a pair of Ancient Elven Boots (vanilla bug fix) and special Qunari Heavy Boots into Lothering chantry's cabinet.
- VANILLA BUGFIX: The Gangue Shade from the Dead Trenches should now drop Dead Metal Bucket (medium helmet) when killed.
- VANILLA BUGFIX: Fixed vanilla game bug where NPC's could get stuck in an infinitely repeating animation upon the player's re-visit of the module (Dalish Camp).
- Conflicts with COMBAT TWEAKS (tweak)
- Weapon VFX Remover (included) (tweak)
- Bodies Stay (included) (tweak)
- Gorim will no longer annoy you with his "Fine Dwarven crafts..." more than once (included) (tweak)
- Does not actually conflict with DRAGON AGE REDESIGNED for minor NPCs (according to the readme) (tweak)
I think this means if you're using the UNOBTAINABLE ITEMS bugfix with IA, you only need to install these parts:
lite_kor_gazarath.utc
pre200cr_hurlock_alpha.utc
cir200cr_greagoir.utc
lite_caged_sword.uti
gen_im_wep_mel_dag_fng.uti
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of that.

no biggie. What I want to know is why don't I see any darkspawn in
Awakening when I first go into the Keep except when walking down the
road, and when I raise the gate up? Also, when I get to the room to go
through the door when Oghren is, he is just standing there and the door
is locked and you can't go anywhere....that's where everything stops.
Any help on that one?
I'm still trying to figure out why this is happening this way...Anyone? Help? I had to take off my game, Awakening, and all my mods. I need to know before I decide to re-install it again.

Can someone give me a run-through of what's working now, and what still needs mods to fix?

I still don't understand why I see a few darkspawn on the road approaching Vigil's Keep, yet when I walk in with Mhairi, I hear them, but see none. Also when I get to the room where Oghren usually is fighting darkspawn and waves, he is just standing there. I have gone over everything, and nothing as of yet. I have stripped all my mods off, with just the Origins and Awakening, it's still the same. Any help here at all?
BTW, I am playing on a good computer with 750 gyg harddrive, Intel®Graphics card, 8gyg ram...If I can't get any help in any of these forums, I give up. lol

The game package information:
Windows XP Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows XP with SP3
CPU: Intel Core 2 Single (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
AMD 64 (or equivalent) running at 2.0Ghz or greater
RAM: 1 GB or more
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space
Video Card: ATI Radeon X850 256MB or greater (this is clearly wrong)
NVIDIA GeForce "6600 GT" 128MB or greater (and this one is more wrong)
(Note: IMO, the practical choices for the two video cards above should be the Radeon X800 Pro, and the Geforce 6800 GS, at least, for small textures - it will take a Radeon X1650 XT (or X1800 GTO, same thing, almost) for medium or better textures)
INTEL'S solutions (Graphics Chips) ARE NOT SUPPORTED

You should not expect anyone to feel supportive toward a gamer either too stingy to use a decent computer, and /or too argumentative about going so cheaply on the video. Intel does not make any properly designed game-playing video solutions. None. This game was not designed for such low quality hardware, and there is no support offered for any such, sorry.
I don't think it's fair to damn someone as "too stingy"-- the Intel graphics system is by far the most commonly available in notebook/laptop systems these days. Moreover, Intel chops are touted as a means to watch high definition videos on those devices (for which they work well enough).
Not everyone is as enlightened as you. The average consumer does not realize that a game like DA:O requires a different set of hardware needs than those required for playing HD video content. Likely, this is ignorance of the technology involved. This is no reason for snide or hostile commentary.

Mods are not normally designed to overcome massive deficiencies in hardware quality. No computer with only a puny video chip from Intel qualifies as a "good" one. It only meets the definition of "cheap", and it is entirely possible to beat the Intel price with an AMD Fusion system that has far superior graphics (without, at this point, being much more than a minimum level. Intel's graphics is just not playing within the ame ballpark as AMD / nVIDIA).Papajack55 wrote...

The way to play games on desktops without any real video graphics card is to go out and BUY the needed card, while making certain that the PC's power supply is sufficiently capable. Laptops do not offer any similar upgrade path.

Does anyone have any intentions of updating this thread? I have no idea what mods from the first page are still required, as it's been over a year since it's been edited/updated.

There have been no content patches since the list was compiled. The only patch was solely to fix authorization issues. Therefore, all of the mods are still valid fixes and as far as any of the 1.05 beta testers could tell, all behaved exactly the same under 1.05 as they do under 1.04. A few of them have been validated as well as possible under 1.05 such as ZDF. This game has been out for a fairly long time and hasn't had any patches in a long time. The state of fixes and such isn't going to change.

Hey thanks, thanks for that help. But guess what? I actually got it working for some reason and somehow. I don't know what I did, but I got it working. I still can't create any characters in the beginning for some reason due to when they reach to decide on rogue or whatever, they disappear. Tried the CC, but the whole game crashes when
trying to import the character from the CC. I can import a character from Origins to Awakenings, but not the CC. Weird I guess, but I tried without the mods, but oh well, glad to have what little I have I guess.
I tried EA and got no response from them at all.
But again, thanks for the answer.

No matter what oddity shows up, if you do not have adequate hardware to perform as the designers intended, you WILL experience repeats of such failures, and over time, those will accellerate as the hardware is stressed over and over so far beyond its design envelope and gradually deteriorates as a result. New game-capable GPUs for desktops are available now at bargain costs compared to any time in the history of 3D graphics.Papajack55 wrote...

Well if the person in question isn't as 'enlightened' getting information before buying anything would be a great first step. And yes the Intel GMA/HD series and AMD llano equivelant (which is better for 'gaming' depending on the title) are widely available from notebooks to desktops.
Also i must admit back in the days (talking 386-486's here ~22 years ago?) the system requirements on the boxes weren't really 'honest' (and still aren't) when it came to 'minimum system requirements' Still when buying a piece of hardware you first think about what you are going to do with it, then you start looking at what's available and maybe gain some knowledge from the internet/friends etc.

I want to ask you something. Do you ever check things out before you type anything in here? I did some research all before I decided to come back in here. I found out why all that with Awakening was happening, had NOTHING to do with computer parts or types of computers as you stated.
I ran a diagnostics test to see if my computer was compatible to run DAO and DAA, and it came out it would, but it would have a slight variation in video only. This hardware is not stressed, there were no oddities, and there were no failures.
All it was was a double mod combo that was conflicting with each other causing the problem, nothing more. I think maybe you might do some rethinking on your part and start doing some research before talking about computers.
Also, I just purchased a new computer because I felt it was time, although there was nothing wrong with the older one(although my son needed one) and Alienware is by far geared towards gaming specifically. I won't tell anyone to buy a computer or parts for their computer because of a glitch or something not happening or going right.
