You are basing this on something as meaningless as DLC? (In comparison.......)

You're already paying for the game. So sure. Why not? As long as it's not an expansion, I don't see the reason of people paying for DLC.

nah now that they're being surpassed by the likes of CDP and perhaps soon Eidos Montreal and have to compete with Skyrim, it'll be more fun to see them try to compete rather than rest on their laurels and tell fans to get over it

i do kinda question how they're going to impress folks with story-based DA2 dlc tho, by the time it comes out a lot of folks will have played The Witcher 2 and be anticipating Deus Ex

can DA2 ever redeem itself or should they abandon it to make DA3 better?

Well, IMO it needs no redemption, though I would welcome story based/game mechanics improvements/additions A LOT.

Well, then don't. Nobody is forcing you to. I am glad I got Return to Ostagar, Warden's Keep, LOTSB, Overlord.......

it's a great way to please both happy fans and disappointed fans tho, ya know get the hard-to-please crowd somewhat interested in the franchise again in between now and years down the road when the sequel comes

the problem is that games don't exist in a vacuum, so yes gamers will compare dlc for DA2 to TW2 or Deus Ex or Skyrim or whatever else they're also playing

I'm sure that EA will dismantle BioWare soon enough if they continue making inferior products. Just look at what happened to Mythic when they couldn't deliver with their supposed World of WarCraft slayer. Poor Mark Jacobs. Then EA will buy up yet another promising developer, force inane time constraints on them and wonder why they couldn't deliver. And so the vicious cycle will continue on and on.

EA has been doing this for decades. Bullfrog, Westwood, Mythic and now BioWare. The funny thing is that people still manage to get surprised when that final nail strikes the coffin. While I'd love to see a different outcome I know what to expect.

True. It's hilarious how BioWare is actually charging for DLC comparable to horse armor when CD Projekt RED is giving it out for free. It's like they're not even trying to compete. It's like they think they're too good for it.

Well they should you know why? Because when people decide to buy the dlc for $5 a piece for virtually no work, like Activision imo.

The only thing companies understand is money so people have to not buy everything Bioware releases.

Well, I'm glad I don't share that pessimistic outlook.

And I know CDPR is doing this as a marketing ploy (Their aim and target are pretty clear) as much as to please the fans. And I'd never presume to think that I know Bioware's motivations, given how I've never been invited to a single meeting.........

To the OP:

DA2 has its flaws. No doubt. But a company has to experiment for its products to evolve and for the sales to improve. Some projects work out better than others. Instead of bashing them I try to give feedback in the hope that the next product will be better. In the past BW has stated that they want and use that feedback. Because I usually love their games I'll do the best I can. And sometimes I fail and get annoyed. I know. Lately I am getting a bit disillusioned by their public responses to this. And I certainly don't like the promises that BW doesn't keep. Especially when it concerns DA. Which makes it hard to continue what I think is right.

To be honest, I didn't like some aspects of ME2 either. But I have the feeling that ME3 is on the right track again. And I have invested a lot of time in that franchise. Lots of playthroughs. That's why I want to follow the trilogy to the end.

Do I know what's best? Do I have all the answers? Probably not. I'll just give it my best shot.

Seconded. I may disagree with both of you re: DAII but this is SPOT ON. And can I just ask.........why can't we all just GET ALONG? DAO fans, DAII fans, Witcher fans, TES fans.......if we worked together in showing Bioware what we'd love to see, we'd be a force to be reckoned with, rather than a divided fanbase slaughtering each other verbally.

Why can't we all get along? Why are we fighting amongst each other? Are we not here to discuss and share great stories about our games be it DAO, DA2 or TW2?

That's so NOT what I said.

In fact, asking people to get along isn't fanning the flames, it's the opposite.

And do NOT call me fanboy. If anything, fanGIRL. <_<

eh my original point wasn't about "horse armor" DLC and more about story-based DLC that would put it on the same plane as the expansions CDP has said they will charge for

the problem i raised was a question about how much Bioware can really push the DA2 engine and assets to compete with what people feel is the new standard for quality, or just take whatever improvements they could make and put it into a new engine for the sequel where ideas can be more fully fleshed out in a way to bring gamers back successfully

This I am curious about myself, I admit. Good point, that.

No. They've made good games; they've made bad games. Perfection simply does not exists.

you have that right.
But wait!
Maybe if people outwit each other with their vitriol and preference-based superiority, Bioware, just by their presence on the forums will have that awesome rub off on them, and improve from some proximity based osmosis.  ?  What, no?

Ok, maybe we should just work together then.

That's silly suggestion, make one average game so you quit. Hell Sega's been making crappy games since the 90s yet there still around.

No, absolutely not!

What, we haven't all screwed something up at some point? One bad game and suddenly one of the greatest development shops on the planet should hang up their keyboards and go work the land?

What a ridiculous notion.

I do think they should try not to steamroller right through their own designers, QC and fans, but they may disagree (or even have no choice). Time will tell on that score, but for crying out loud you can't write people off because they fail once.

Imagine if we'd all done that because of the official NWN package when it went gold?!
