Adept, but I have always been a sucker in RPGs for the caster type role.

Same for me, in pretty much the same words.

Soldier.
Second was Infiltrator, because it allowed me to do all the non-combat tech things Soldier couldn't.

I must admit I do miss having a reason outside of combat abilities to pick a class. Still, c'est la vie.

I just pick Soldiers/Warriors. I'm a tank kind of guy. I like to have all of the weapons and physical attacks that do the most damage.

Besides that, I do like the Infiltrator and Vanguard, too. I might play as a Sentinel. As for Engineer or Adept? Doubtful. Because they only allow 3 weapons at a time (including Heavies) and don't give me a mixture of the other two classes.

Adept. I went back and switched to Vanguard after some utter disappointment regarding the Adept's abilities, though.

My first class in my very first playthough was an Infiltrator... I cannot believe that I remembered that!

Vanguard.

i was like "hmm, i wanna be good with guns and general combat, but i also want this neat sounding space magic, oh perfect a hybrid class of soldier and space wizard? sign me up!"

That's exactly what I thought.

In retrospect, I'm surprised that nobody thought of the Shotgun-Wielding Telekinetic concept before Mass Effect (that I know of). It's brilliant.

Adept. I like being able to control the battlefield, and Adepts for me are the best class to do that.

Vanguard. Second class was an infiltrator, because it was the complete opposite.

Infiltrator because I like sniping.
Then I went Adept because biotics are fun.
Now I'm going Vanguard to see what the fuss is (and to use something other than a pistol/sniper rifle) and it's awesome.

I'm torn between Infiltrator and Vanguard as my favorites. Perhaps I like them equally. They're both so different, but very fun.

A Vanguard (in both Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2). Fortunately it is also my favourite class.

Soldier because it was the easiest class to get into, and get a feel for the combat system.  However, I did my first complete playthrough with a vanguard and that's my fave class.

Hehe me too. It was cool that in ME2 they really went for something different and focused on CQC combat. Biotic Charge was really something awesome and inovative.

I'm always a soldier whenever I replay ME1. Then in ME2 I go for a class upgrade.

i actually kinda hate that they pidgeon-holed the vanguard into being a shotgun wielding CQC guy. Vanguard is still my favorite class in ME2, its just annoying that the class is so specialized for that when it was origionally intended to be a soldier / adept hybrid.

Maybe it got a little too pidgeon-holed, but generally I like it. In ME1 the vanguard was supposed to be specialized for close quarters too, but since shotguns worked fairly well at range and since it was hard to get close to moving opponents, it didn't really play that way. In ME2 on the other hand, you definitely get that feel. On top of that, once you get the locust you can fight quite well from a distance too.

And yeah, vanguard was always my first choice, back from ME1 on the xbox. I've always liked melee-range-oriented characters, and the vanguard seemed to fit that the most. And whereas tech seemed to rely on gadgets and gear, biotics seemed to be a kind of inner talent or skill, akin to the force in SW, so it made sense that my planned-to-be-capable character would be able to use it.

Engineer, then sentinel, then adept... I remember that even though it was so long ago because it's still my top 3 preferred classes, either in Me1 or ME2.

In fact, I never played soldier or infiltrator in ME1 until just a year ago when I was doing another playthrough of ME1.
