oh lord, i feel bad for ME1 soldiers. i tried playing through as one, its SO boring.
Actually, the most fun I had in Mass Effect 1 was as a soldier.
I modded my guns right for neverending fire, used Immunity and Shield Boost, then took Ashley and Wrex along for backup and there wasn't an enemy we couldn't stomp into the dust!
Sadly, that level of fun tapered right off in ME2.
I lost both my signature powers and although Geth Shielding could replace one of them, it still wasn't the same.
And the ammo issue was disappointing to the nth degree.
I can guarantee during the length of one mission, even if I hit every target with a deadeye shot, at least one-two guns would be completely out of ammo (usually my Collector Assault Rifle and Geth Plasma Shotgun).
If it was a siege moment (like Object Rho in Arrival), they'd all run out pretty fast!
By the way, I never survived all 5 waves.......
I was out of ammo when the Ymir mech showed up and that was that!
I've always hated games that cater to the "power casting' type of character and don't consider what would happen if someone (like me) wants to play a character based purely on weapons and the skill of using them.
And, unfortunately, ME2 was one of those kind of games.
Still, I'm sticking with Soldier in ME3, even through all it's ups and downs, it's still my favorite.
There is plenty of ammo lying around in Arrival - to survive the waves you have to keep moving and not bunker down, which is pretty much true for all classes, imo.

Vanguard! I just loved the idea of having biotics and still being an awesome fighter!! In ME2 got even better, and I hope ME3 takes it to a new level
Then I played soldier and Infitrator. Will do an Adept playthrough as well. Dunno bout Engineer and Sentinel though...
I just started an engineer. It's pretty fun, if only for the mix of powers, but be prepared to take Grunt with you everywhere.

I never realized how boring the Soldier class was until I played another class for the first time.

Guess I wanted something grounded but not as boring and stereotypical as soldier.

I don't think anyone has picked Seintinel as their first one yet in this poll. Probably not a lot of people drawn to a complete hybird class to start off a game. The description of them being healers probably didn't help their cause either.

Engineer. Completed the achivement of taking more damage to shields than to health easily in that playthrough with such high electronics rating.

I got that achievement from my first playthrough. I'm just good at games.
