Exhibit A: ME2 Core Demographic Sample

Soldier. It's not like that classes in ME are really that different. You have the shooty dude and the dude who shoots a little bit less.

Infiltrator class is pointless because you don't infiltrate anything. You're not a class needed for say hacking or lockpicking because everyone can do it.

tnx but no

I don't really like this game (me2). I play RPG games for the story (and ME2 lacked in that part) and I always picked a stealth class or a warrior class. And considering that there is no stealth in ME I picked the soldier. The "cloak" is pointless I mean...what will you do when you cloak? Reposition? You're playing a tight corridor cover based shooter game where the hell will you reposition that will give you some big advantage? You have a chest high wall to the left and a chest high wall to the right. You can move without the cloak to the same places. And the passive to tactical cloak is a weapon damage increase? So a cloak increases you damage? Sure thing. Why is the class called infiltrateor when you're not doing any infiltrating what so ever? You're not like scoundril/rogue of KOTOR/NWN so that the party needs you because you can unlock stuff and disable traps. Everyone can do that in ME.

Like I said. Completely pointless class.

oh lord, i feel bad for ME1 soldiers. i tried playing through as one, its SO boring.

Actually, the most fun I had in Mass Effect 1 was as a soldier.
I modded my guns right for neverending fire, used Immunity and Shield Boost, then took Ashley and Wrex along for backup and there wasn't an enemy we couldn't stomp into the dust!

Sadly, that level of fun tapered right off in ME2.
I lost both my signature powers and although Geth Shielding could replace one of them, it still wasn't the same.
And the ammo issue was disappointing to the nth degree.
I can guarantee during the length of one mission, even if I hit every target with a deadeye shot, at least one-two guns would be completely out of ammo (usually my Collector Assault Rifle and Geth Plasma Shotgun).
If it was a siege moment (like Object Rho in Arrival), they'd all run out pretty fast!
By the way, I never survived all 5 waves.......
I was out of ammo when the Ymir mech showed up and that was that!

I've always hated games that cater to the "power casting' type of character and don't consider what would happen if someone (like me) wants to play a character based purely on weapons and the skill of using them.

And, unfortunately, ME2 was one of those kind of games.

Still, I'm sticking with Soldier in ME3, even through all it's ups and downs, it's still my favorite.

The Object Rho battle as a soldier (on insanity) is probably the easiest way to do it.  I just did it a few days ago with no ammo issues at all.  In fact, As a Soldier I found it nearly impossible to run out of ammo.

Anyway, to answer the TC's question, Soldier was my first class in ME1, but Im a Vanguard lover all the way.

Infiltrator (btw Sheploo). Infiltrator is still most comfortable class for me, but Vanguard is more fun.

Infiltrator. I switched to a soldier after, because I didn't really like tech abilities on my main (and my companions were tali & liara so I didn't need it) and could snipe anyway.

But since ME2, Infiltrator is my favourite class. And I don't find the easy positionning and the 2 sec enhanced damages useless at all in a lot of maps (all the main missions except the prologue, a lot of recruiting or loyalty missions... Everything was far easier with massive and offensive using of the cloak)

Honestly? It was the Soldier. When I bought Mass Effect, which I did the week of (saw a couple of trailers and peaked my interest). But I had no idea what the other classes really did. So I just decided to go with the general Soldier. He eventually became my token evil shepard. My Vauguard shep is my Canon shep though. That and my female Infiltrator. Soldier... is good but he;s just a walking tank. Still cool though
So Soldier.

Vanguard... firepower and biotics sounded interesting, not to mention that I was also a KOTOR fan, and Vanguards sounded like Jedi to me
