Hi.

I hope I didn't miss the right forum. :innocent: The "no spoilers" in general discussion scared me away.

So here is the deal: I got all the "big" DLCs for Mass Effect 2 adding new missions. Now I still have 320 Bioware points to spent. I've got all DLC for Dragon Age, and I am not really interested in the Comic. (I've got Mass Effect 1 to make all the choices I like). Unsure about the alternative appearance packs. I sort of prefer playable content to watchable content ^_^

That leave the three equipment DLCs. Which ones add most variety? Do they overall change the game balance?

Thanks in advance!

Take Weapons Pack 1 :) Imho you wont regret that pack. Especially because it's damn to play shooters with gamepad without autoaim (i play on pc)

The fire power pack changes the balance of the guns. The other 2 packs are fairly well balanced.

If they don't change the balance then what's the use. You're just paying for something that looks different but doesn't do anything more than what you already have. Might as well get an appearance pack if that's what you're after.

Go with the Firepower pack if you only have one to choose.

Take Aegis Pack and Firepower Pack. Aegis gives you very good N7 armor parts and the Incisor sniper rifle, which is the best sniper rifle for your squad mates. Firepower gives you the overpowered M-96 Mattock assault rifle and the Geth Plasma Shotgun.

Firepower pack. It has changed the gameplay dramatically. I could finally pick shotguns with my Engineer without feeling like I'm shooting myself in the foot, because I have the geth plasma shotgun.

And the Mattock is a must for any class that has assault rifle training.

The Phalanx is a very powerful gun too.

I agree with the Firepower Pack. Those three weapons have awesomesauce written all over them. ^_^

Aegis Pack is a very close second for the Armor and to give companions the Incisor!

Firepower gives you the most... well, firepower. Some of us think it gives you a bit too much of it in fact.

I don't think the other equipment DLC is all that great. You get the best equipment from Firepower Pack and Kasumi.

Aegis and Firepower packs are the two most used "weapons" paks I have. I use most of the Aegis every play, and my squad always gets the Incisor SR when they can use it, as well as the Firepower is just too good to pass up. The only real knock on the Firepower is it is almost too good. But if given a choice of only two, then this would be it.

Firepower Pack.

It adds the Mattock assault rifle, a very powerful semi automatic rifle.  It's not this compact, high rate of fire, pansy Avenger or SMG crap.  It's a man's rifle made for man's work :D  It is a god-tier killing machine when used with adrenaline rush.  It's also powerful in the hands of squad mates.  Samara is basically an entire heavy weapons squad when she's using it; not only is it a powerful rifle, she has biotics to go with it.

Firepower pack also adds the Geth Plasma Shotgun and the Phalanx pistol.  The GPS is effective at ranges greater than regular shotguns.  It's a good weapon for shotgun wielding squad mates.  It's also devastating in the hands of a soldier Shepard in conjunction with AR, or a Vanguard Shepard in conjuction with charge.  The GPS can be charged up by holding the firing button for a very powerful shot, at the cost of two ammo instead of one.  The Phalanx is a godsend pistol for the caster classes that start out with an SMG and pistol.  The Phalanx is like the Carnifex in that it's effective at much greater range than an SMG, but it also has more ammo than the Carnifex.  It inflicts massive damage per shot (even more than Carnifex), but rate of fire is slower, so make the shots count.

The Aegis pack gives you Kestrel armor and the Incisor sniper rifle.  The Kestral armor set can be used in its entirety, or you can mix and match parts of it with regular N7 armor.  I don't care for how the Kestral components look aesthetically, but it is a nice armor set.  I frequently use the Kestral greaves and gauntlets.  I can't bring myself to use the Kestral chestplate though.  It doesn't have the N7 logo on it.  I have to have my N7 logo.  That way, every badguy I take out will know it was done courtesy of the Alliance Special Forces.  The Incisor sniper rifle, unlike other sniper rifles, works very good at removing shields.  It's not a good rifle for the player, though, because it's impossible to keep ammo for it.  It uses ammo fast and the ammo pickups are minimal.  However, it's very powerful in the hands of squad mates since they apparently don't suffer the usual ~45% damage reduction with it that they do other weapons.  I usually have Thane use the Incisor as it seems like the kind of rifle he would use.  The Incisor is sort of like the Viper in that it's really more of a designated marksman's kind of weapon, than a pure sniper rifle (I consider the Mantis and Widow to be "pure" sniper rifles).

besides firepower, aegis pack is quite nice. If you are a vanguard, you will love the kestrel armor.

Apart from the arc projector I haven't bothered with any of the downloadable weapons. I'd prefer to beat the game with just the standard ones at the moment!  Having said that, I'd love to get hold of the blackstorm singularity gun 'cause that looks awesome.  Trouble is you don't seem to be able to get hold fof it anymore Image IPB
