Witch hunt takes place 2 years after the blight as it says in biowares advertising, in the game and I think on its cover as well. So A warden that goes through the Eluvian with Morrigan would be gone 4-5 years before King Alistair goes to Kirkwall - And yet Teagan says that The Hero of Ferelden - Our Warden is in Denerim?

The Hero of Ferelden could have come back with Morrigan and his progeny from the Eluvian. I wonder how Morrigan would react to a mage being in command over an entire arling. I'd imagine his influence is why there's no reference to templars putting a bounty on her (like there is with the Orlesian Warden WH storyline).

I admit there are problems with the timeline. There's an issue with the timeline when it comes to Oghren's baby with Felsi being born in the span of six months, Anders and Justice meeting if Anders was never recruited and Justice was killed in the Dragonbone Wastes, and Anders showing up in Kirkwall a year after the Blight when he's supposed to be meeting the Hero of Ferelden (or the Orlesian Warden-Commander) in Amaranthine a year after the Blight.

Ok, I would love to see this and hear what Morrigan has to say on the issue.  In my case Morrigan has  Alistair's progeny, since my canon play is the Human Noble Female who marries Alistair.  Well I don't see  the wardens that she saves in the game calling for a bounty on her head since she did save their lives if a player goes the DR route.  I've never played the US ending yet from Origins.  So the Orlesian puts a bounty on her head?  Hmmm, that is interesting.  Why would the wardens do this unless Alistair is king and he knew about the offer which the Hero of Ferelden refused if your warden is dead.

I'm beginning to wonder if the reason for the timeline to be off is if the developers might spring some type of time travel into the plot.  I got this impression when we first meet Flemeth and what she says to Hawke with the line "Will your King not miss you?"  Uh, which King was Flemeth referring too?  Cailan or Alistair?   The very first time I played the game I was like....why did Flemeth say that?  I just chalked it off well it's Flemeth. Image IPB

Cailan is susposed to be dead at this point.  Unless you fled Ostagar before the final battle and head to Lothering to save your family.  Yet Aveline knows that Loghain withdrew his troops.  Hawke doesn't comment he saw Loghain's withdrawal at no time during the game.  Except having the option it was sad to leave Lothering that way.  Hmmm, sounds like something my warden would say. The Wardens dont put a bounty on Morrigans head, the Chantry does. I believe Lob was suggesting that The Warden from Origins who became hero of fereldan and arl of amaranthine used his influance to ensure no bounty was made since she was under Warden Protection and helped stop a blight etc.

Whereas if he died and an Orlesian Commander of the Grey is in place he's never met Morrigan and so he isn't going to really do anything for her or use his influence to protect her. So a bounty is placed on her head and the Orlesian Warden sees it in the Wardens interests to obtain info from her or something

Ok, I didn't realize it was the chantry that did this, as I said, I haven't done the US ending.

I agree the wardens would want to know about the DR even if a player does the US.  Alistair would be the only one with this information.  If Alistair is killed at the end of DAO then how do the wardens know about the DR unless they knew about the DR from other blights?  Maybe those other warden who killed the the other Arch demons survive or they've run into the Architect in the deep roads.  These are the only possibilities that I can come up with.

Alistair and Loghain can be aware of what happened, and even if you don't tell Loghain he admits he has his suspicions but will keep them to himself, so it's not guarenteed the Wardens will be aware of the "dark ritual."

It's not guarenteed the Wardens will know about the dark ritual, although it's clear they are curious and asking questions. The Warden certainly doesn't have to share the information with anyone.

Considering that Hawke can tell her that he's certain he would miss his life more (in the sarcastic response), I think Flemeth was aware of the fact that King Cailan was dead. The timeline does seem to be a bit skewed as Anders is in Kirkwall when he likely should be in Amaranthine (as Amaranthine takes place six months after the Blight ends and Hawke meets Anders a year after the Blight begins).

Tbh I dont think Morrigan would care about mage influence in Amaranthine, I mean she doesn't care about the plight of the mages anyway, She supported Annulling the circle in Ferelden, She probably would have supported annulling the Kirkwall circle as well - Shes like Bhelen, No Morales - More Logistics. For example killing a bunch of innocent mages could have prevented an uprising which makes sense.

Morrigan has no respect for them precisely because they do nothing to free themselves from Chantry and templar control, and The Warden can persuade her that she could have been one of these Circle mages if things were different. Morrigan clearly has empathy for a mage protagonist from the Circle mage, thinking he would feel like a caged bird. She advocates freeing Sten and Jowan from their imprisonment, so I disagree that she has no morals. It was planned to make it clear that Morrigan offers the dark ritual to The Warden because she cares about him (which is evident if the two are in a romance). As for her lover being a mage and having command over lesser nobles, an army, the order of the Wardens throughout the nation, and governing a city, I'd think she'd have an opinion on the matter.

ElvaliaRavenHart wrote...

Where the Chantry is involved she does care.  She is considered by the Chantry to be an apostate so I'm sure the plight of the mages in Kirkwall would be of great interest to her.  I'm positive she'd have something to say on the issue and which decision on who Hawke supports.  She hated Alistair for being a former templar.

The only reason she agreed with the annulment for the Circle of Ferelden is because those mages didn't fight for their freedom and they allowed themselves to be caged.  This is the way I took her comments.  I'd imagine if Hawke sided with the Templars this will make you an enemy of mages everywhere if you also killed all the mages in Ferelden and if Hawke kills all the mages in Kirkwall.  Yeah, I see her son being used against the Templars  and The Chantry if Templars are running around killing mages everywhere at the end of DA2.

Morrigan would probably like the fact that the mages rose up against the Chantry and the templars, and freed themselves, although I imagine Hawke helping Flemeth escape death would anger her regardless of what side Hawke chose. And Gaider has said the children of Grey Warden mages aren't taken away by the Chantry since Grey Warden mages aren't under Chantry juristiction, so the templars can't legally take away the Commander of the Grey's son.

Yes, married or not the child of a mage is taken away by the Chantry.

Would the same happen if the mage was also a Grey Warden, such as the Warden-Commander of DA:O and Awakenings?

A mage who is not part of the Circle is not subject to the will of the Chantry. So, no.

And I'm certain having the Silver Order and a nation of Grey Wardens under his command would make them think twice would trying to take away his son illegally.

A TON of fereldans went to kirkwall and he is checking up on his people hoping they will return. There are many reasons he could be there. Use your friggin imaginations, this is an rpg, it's all about you deciding why things happen.

Or it could have been that he was hoping to find an ally in Kirkwall, like he said.

He says that he wanted the Champion to do something for him, but that Merideth found out he was there, so it was too late to ask.

What I wonder more, what was he going to ask us to do?... I always thought he was on his way to the Anderfels, to give Duncan a proper ceremony, and stopped by for lots of reasons (Kirk-wall is a trade-hub, and in a pivotal strategic position, and the city is basically run by a fereldan...)

A bit late for that.  Duncan's been dead for 7 years when Alistair shows up in Kirkwall.

Being KING can keep someone busy. So can fighting Darkspawn. Traveling to the Anderfels and back would take a LONG LONG TIME, would a nation, recovering from an occupation, then a civil war, then a blight, be ready for it's king to leave so easily?... And if he's only a Grey Warden, then if not the darkspawn, his friends would need his attention (he's not the sort to abondon his friends).

I enjoyed writing it. It was a fun moment, and felt like returning home to a character I knew well, at least for a bit. If you didn't enjoy it, oh well.

It was more important to me that the same actor returned to do the voice (and Teagan too!) The bonus with the DA2 character creation engine regarding Alistair is that he and Anders don't look so much alike now (which I found annoying in DAA.)

The main thing I took from his visit was that we might be seeing more of Orlais in the future. After reading The Stolen Throne, I'm not sure how I feel about that >.<. However, since Orlais is also the seat of the Divine, I think it would tie in together several storylines.

not just the Divine, but Empress Celene too. I'm curious as to what she looks like.

Why doesn't Queen Anora make an appearance? I know that most people think she's a bit of a b**ch but I liked her. Is it because she's more capable than Alistair, more devoted to the Chantry, or too proud to seek out an ally?

Possibly she was trying too hard to get the face morph to look as close as it possibly could, even though the system wasn't designed to make faces much like Origins', and should have known that even the slightest difference would be picked apart and declared hideous. So she probably needn't have tried as hard as she did.

I thought it looked fine.

In Alistair's case it doesn't seem as much the morph quality, but rather whatever you guys have done to your rendering engine, specifically to how it draws characters' faces. It's the same thing that made people complain about Sebastian's appearance in his trailer etc -- things seem to fall apart and look really bad and flat when there's no decent lighting in the scene (like, just the ambient light especially if there's large shadows cast over the whole thing)

For Alistair these changes hit twice as hard because people have actually seen his character rendered by DAO version of the engine and in much better lighting than in these spots where he gets his DA2 cameos, so the deterioration in quality (in these conditions) is far more obvious.

Pity the designer's effort got wasted like that, but she has only the person who decided about placement of these particular cutscenes --and no doubt thought it all looked fine there, too-- to thank for it.

There's something... muddy?  about the faces.

But, I liked the cameo.  Alistair still got upstaged by Zevran, I'm afraid.  Zev's cameo was a highlight of the game.  Having the same VAs makes all the difference.

Zevran AND Nathaniel's cameo are the highlight of the game, my dear. Especially in Act 3. I was in heaven when I triggered those two quest.

I have noticed that Allistar LOVES to make these LOOOONG road trips, speak a few words and then promptly leave.
Either, he really wants to get out of the Castle REALLY BAD, or... he's forgotten that he has ambassadors??

I was curious on this also.

Duncan's father was from Highever in Ferelden and his mother was from Rivain.  I'd think Alistair would have made it to Highever before showing up Kirkwall after nearly seven years.
