I've played most of bioware games and loved them all, and I figure instead of twiddling my thumbs waiting for Mass Effect 3, I'll play Jade Empire which I just purchased. But I'm running into issues that I can't help but thing are caused by Windows 7 (Just a hunch).
First Issue, My saves, most notably my quick saves, are constantly getting corrupted and sometimes, just dissapear.
I hate having to replay my progress over and over. I usually make backups but I swear Jade Empire will wait until I forget to make backup saves to corrupt them (or cause them to vanish).
I've searched like crazy for fixes, the largest one I found was to "Rum as Admin" when playing. I tried it, still same issue. I also tried to add Jade Empire to UAC exceptions.
Secondly and less of an issue. The config utility crashes on startup. It's not that major of an issue, I can edit in game and with the ini directly but still it's annoying. (off topic: I just reinstalled Mass Effect recently and I'm having the same issue with the Config utility crashing) I've tried running as admin, in compatibility mode, and adding to UAC exceptions. Still, nadda. Still crashing.
If anyone has an idea on how to fix it'd be much appreciated. I honestly don't want to play the game until the save issue is fixed, I just hate replaying stupid quests again. Along with small unskippable cutscenes again and again jag at my patience and ruin the expirence for me. Which I don't want the expirence of a bioware game ruined, as they're too awesome.
Thank you.

You may want to check your save folder for a "read-only" tick mark. For me this has always been the issue as well with the config crash that happens if the config exe has the 'read only' option ticked on its properties page. It sounds like the dreaded "Read-Only with Vista & Win 7" problem has reared its head again.....
