I read a while back that you need to rename the Mass Effect 2 .exe as "UT3.exe" in order to enable forced anti-aliasing through the catalyst control center. Not anymore, it seems. I used my Radeon HD 5770 to set anti-aliasing to 8x, under "Box" mode, and it worked flawlessly. I guess support for anti-aliasing in Mass Effect 2 must have been added to the drivers at some point.
The improvement in image quality is striking, really. I dearly hope that BioWare puts full anti-aliasing support in the normal rendering path of Mass Effect 2, so players don't have to take the considerable performance hit of forced anti-aliasing in order to smooth out the edges.
