On my last playthrough, I tried it. My PC flirted with her at every opportunity during her Act 2 quest, and apart from sounding like a stalker, there was no difference between that and previous playthroughs. Did get a +15 friendship, but that was it. Does the PC need to have a particular personality type? My current PC is witty/sarcastic.
How do you get Aveline to kiss you?

Always (and I do mean always) choose the flirt options when they show up. If you complete The Long Road in a satisfactory fashion, she will smooch you right on the lips. I am not entirely certain if the kiss is alignment-dependant, though, as the only time I got her to kiss my Hawke was when she was diplomatic.
Maybe you also need to be at 100 Friendship?

Use the sarcastic (purple) options when there are no flirts available. She responds best to those.

There is also an option were you can hypnotize her with your beard. But you have to play Default Hawke for that.

On one playthrough, my Hawke used a mix of diplomatic and sarcastic options. No kiss - just a nod, thanks, now get out of my office. This last go, Hawke wallowed in sarcasm (every single dialogue choice, even if it didn't seem appropriate) and thus the kiss was bestowed (playing a F!Hawke too, so that was quite nice). In that last dialogue decision post-Long Road though, I selected the middle option, which doesn't have the purple icon (and wasn't blatanly sarcastic), so that might be part of the trick as well.

seems to me that when she's talking to you after having slept with Donnic just use the sarcastic options. That's what I did, never flirted with her.
unless there's some other kiss I dun know about, this wasn't exactly a romantic-type kiss

Yep, that thank you kiss is just Aveline living a little. Don't need to flirt with her at all, just use sarcastic dialog post the long road.

Yeah, I think it's just the Sarcastic one at the end of The Long Road mission. Total accident, but it was an adorable surprise for my Elyza Hawke, who only flirted with a certain rogue apostate.
And I did go "D'aww" after the dialogue finished. Ok, confession over.

DEFINITIVE ANSWER
I tested it on several ps3 with help of my friend.
I have a hawke mage with sarcastic personality, and have aveline FRIENDLY at 90% (on ps3 there isn't numerical value).
At the end of LONG ROAD quest i have aveline kiss me, always.
No offense for those who had written wrongly but to have a kiss you have simply to response with the flirt OPTION in EVERY dialogue with aveline, and in the end she finally kiss you.
(no sarcastic option must be selected)
After the kiss you can react as you want.
