I believe it's safe to say that metacritic scores are a reflection of how excellent a game is.

Personally, I do not care if Bioware and the entire gaming community ascribes to Metacritic or not; just know false data when I see it. Pass.

In the case of user reviews, I tend to agree, but how are the critic reviews false data?

Besides all the accusations of pay-offs and bribery just seen here, there is the skewed equations and biased data:

Because opinions are not factual just because they are turned into data, when that data is falsified/

Considering that:

- most BW games get high grades from both professional reviews and user reviews
- TW2 has (so far) got generally good grades from both of those
- DA2 has received sub-par pro reviews (for a BW game) and absolutely horrible user reviews

These were the points at the centre of the debate, from an objective standpoint, they do hold true, regardless of the specifics involved.

Elhanan wrote...

But the facts are entirely about people's opinions.

The simple fact that is by and large, Dragon Age 2 has a) been less well received than previous Bioware games and B) has been less well received than Witcher 2.

No more, no less.

Opinions are not facts, it doesn't matter how many or few, they are still not a fact, just opinion. Reviews are meaningless, you should not need them to validate your beliefs.

You need them to make an educated guess if you're even  interested in a certain product. I know about my tastes and if a whole lot of people point out things I know I wouldn't like, I can make up my mind based on these points. And in addition I saw some of it when playing the demo.

In the case of DAII its the combat, the waves, the non reacting NPCs above all the other mentioned tidbits. Nevermind the actual ratings, I know I wouldn't like the style they adopted let alone spend a considerable amount of money on that kind of game.

If TW2 is such a good game would it not make more sense to talk about it on TW2 website? Why does it keep getting brought up on here? Maybe they protest too much about how good it is?

To find out if  I like a game I play it, I don't need someone else to tell me what to think.

Good for you if you have it to burn. For me 60 dollars are quite an expense when it comes to experimenting.

I think that it's a crapshoot. You have haters who will review bomb a game because they don't like the way the cover looks, then you have people who play the game actually review it (and then the people review boost a game, that is rate it a nine or ten because it was made by x company, even though they have never played it). The critic reviews are a "safer" bet, but user reviews can be a good indicator of how people felt about the game.

Then return it if you didn't like it, get your money back, or exchange it. Or download a demo/free trial. You may be missing out on games you might enjoy if you listen to the opinion of others.

If he hasnt then i seriously doubt his ability to judge if a game is good or not.

So what?
Most people on BW forums are into RPGs.
Most of them have been a part of the BW community for a long time and also enjoy RPGs from other companies.

Why would they not be allowed to talk about other games (especially in comparison to BW products)?
Why would they have to join other forums simply to talk about one game?

In most countries you cant return PC game, you can't exchange PC game, you can't rent PC game, it is hard to sell them because in many cases you can't register cd-key on another account and many games doesn't have any demo.
Any more bright ideas ?

My post, which you quoted entirely, said I was playing the demo besides reading the reviews.

As for money back, they don't do that where I live. Open the box and its yours unless its damaged.

Not it's own forums yet as they are down.

And still I'll be on BSN because it's a much much larger community considering Bioware has been around for a long time. I like rpg's I'm assuming everyone on BSN does too. Do I have to limit myself to a forum because your unhappy about a certain game being brought up?

A friend of mine returned Dawn of War 2 on PC recently as he was not happy with it. No problems at all. I've done the same with no problem, usually console games though, can see how PC games may offer some resistance.

Not unhappy, just found it strange how TW2 can't be discussed other than in reference to DA:2.

This is the DA:2 forum, not TW2 forum. Too complicated?

I don't mind discussions of Witcher 2 or other RPG's for that matter; new releases do impact the BioWare community and I don't think it is harmful per se to discuss where other games improved the genre and what we'd like to see in future games. In my industry (which is not gaming) while it's nice to be praised, sometimes negative feedback can be the most helpful as it shows where we can improve.

I draw the line at using Witcher signatures or Witcher profile pictures, blatently advertising another company's RPG and shoving it down the community's faces when, while we are customers, we are still BioWare's guests on their forums. And we are a Dragon Age community here, not a Witcher.

Then why were people upset for having a Bioware employee giving a high review for their own game? Why the hoopla over 10-0 scores? If it all works out, they should not matter, but they do. The equations should matter a lot.

8 + 8 +7 +9 = 32 + 4 = 8; looks like valid data and equation.

10 + 10 + 10 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 30 = 6 = 5 + 3 cause we like three of the companies = 8 ; looks like a valid result, but is based upon likely falsified data and a biased equation.

I have no problem with TW2 being rated higher than DA2. I have no isses with those that contend DAO is better than DA2.

My possible issues are with nomadic fans of other games coming into these forms and spamming thread upon thread over how wondermous their piece of heaven is doing, and that DA2 is the worst thing since Jar Jar.

I may have a problem with folks contending that it does not matter if a site is knowingly cooking the results as long as they get a review that is praiseworthy, then insisting the results are proof of excellence.

And I may have a problem with those that insist I be silent because I have not played their highly rated game because I have opinions over the materials.

Pass on the other game; pass on the recommended site.
