And people wonder why so many of us do not blame Bioware, but EA instead.

Much of the Bioware stuff must be screaming inside to explain the truth to us, but is unable to due to the contracts they sign.

Still, we understand perfectly that DA2's development time was out of Bioware's control, so we won't blame you guys. Just...try to persuade EA to give you a longer dev time for DA3 okay? *wink*

Yeah, they do make fun of Bioware's sex scenes. A lot of people, in fact.

This line of thinking is a serious problem with these boards. People don't seem to understand, or dont want to understand, that Bioware and EA are the same thing. There is not one without the other. It's not just EA's fault DA2 sucked, Bioware is also directly responsible because they are a single entity.

Seriously people, Bioware = EA.

Think of it like Meredith and Cullen.

Meredith is EA, Cullen is Bioware. Meredith's the one giving harsh orders, while Cullen's the reluctant and well-meaning templar who is often forced to obey, but still Cullen can't help but giving hints once in a while he disagrees with Meredith's thinkings.

Ugh, wow. That makes me mad on behalf of the talented people in the trenches, assuming it was the suits pushing them so hard- and mad on behalf of the fanbase, as well. For all that the voice acting is really good.

Fireyeel I think Mike2640 is right, the Doctors are both EA VP's now, if the DA2 devs had wanted more time then I think they would have got it.
We don't know why it was rushed out, but I believe DA2 is the game that Bioware wanted to release, it's just not the game that most of the Origins fans wanted to buy.

Curse censorship. Either way, great animations. The characters look great doing small things, like brushing off dirt, or being pulled into a water pool. The mouth animations aren't the greatest, especially from the Witcher himself, but it's still decent. Then, at least the characters had unique (or, well, nude) models for the romance scene. The only one in DAII seems to be Merrill, while the others remained clothed. Considering that character uniqueness was such a huge praise by the developers for giving the companions one solid, defined look, they were rather stale when it came to scenes that should appear far more engaging and intimate.

I found the Origins romance scenes to be much more intimate. I don't want graphic sex, but... I was unsatisfied with all but Merrill's scene, and she is the companion I'm the least interested in romancing. (I pursued each romance on a character, and then decided which one I wanted and continued on that save.) Sad, really.

On-topic, though...

I don't need more confirmation that DAII was rushed. Of course, it does make me feel better when someone who played some part in the creation of the game admits it. If the voice actors didn't feel like they had enough time, well, from playing the game I can see why. They didn't. The game shouldn't have been completely overhauled in such a short development time, and should have built and improved on what already existed. That likely would have been the best way to push out the story in a more cohesive and engaging manner.

Interesting interview overall, as well.

Going by the lead designer of DA:O (who quit early on in DA2's development) and by the statements of those in Bioware like the doctors, it is pretty clear Bioware big wigs wanted really short development times and weren't happy with how things were. They want to do things EA-style.  I don't doubt that many of the lower level people at Bioware don't like this shift and especially didn't enjoy getting rushed about on DA2.  The fact is, however, that the people who call shots at Bioware are as guilty as heck too.

We'll just have to see how this plays out in future Bioware products.

Why are people still blaming Bioware for the game being rushed? Didn't Inon Zur blank out say that it was EA that pushed things too much?

EDIT: Thats not to say that the people who work on the Dragon Age team don't care about the quality of their games as much anymore...Casey Hudson and the guys who are making the Mass Effect series seem a lot more serious about the whole quality games thing and I really hope the Dragon Age crew gets back to making phenomenal games like DAO.

This. *curses out EA, then tries to look forward to DA3 with optimism*

I'm just saying that from what people who left Bioware have said, the big wigs in Bioware WANTED to move to getting out games very frequently.  They wanted to change how the company did things.  As such, it seems like internal support from the people in charge probably was pretty lackin when EA starting pushing for things to get done NOW.

Yeah, they do make fun of Bioware's sex scenes. A lot of people, in fact.

Well more people should make fun of TW's sex scenes because those are the very definition of cringeworthy.

DA2 plays (to me) like the alpha build. A friend of mine who did some QA playtests mentioned that to me, and it honestly makes sense from the feel of the game. Like.. it's on the cusp of being good, but multiple areas feel like placeholders for cinematic elements versus finished areas, etc.

Thanks for the link OP. And I agree with the reaction of a few others, it really isn't much of a suprise that the voice acting was rushed, just like every other aspect.

I know this is a little off topic, but I just wanted to respond to this so I'll get it out of the way.

Well, I haven't played The Witcher 2 yet(and won't ever play it unless they make a console port since I don't game on PC's) but I have seen at least one sex scene from TW2 and it didn't make me cringe at all.

As a matter of fact, I thought it was done better than the scenes in DA2. At least in TW2 they're actually naked.

Fully clothed dry humping is more cringe-worthy to me, to be honest.

TW2 has a talent for sneaking into almost every conversation on this forum. It's like an infection or a bad rash. xD

Anyway, hopefully whoever was responsible for the rushing of DA2 will take all of this into consideration and try harder with the next installment. While I will harp on about greedy business folk, etc, I'm sure that the main goal is to give us an enjoyable experience. I think if less people were willing to accept lousy craftmenship then it would be less likely to happen, if you get my drift. I want to be able to encourage players who don't usually do so to give feedback.

Lol, I could go door-to-door like some strange sort of Dragon Age mormon.

That's why I said I knew it was off topic. I don't know how that topic came about, but I wanted to respond to it.

Anywho, yeah, DA2 was rushed. That was evident enough already without all the proof laid out for everyone to see.

I don't know what else to say about the subject as I think everything that needed to be said has already been said before, here and elsewhere multiple times over.

The question is will Bioware learn from their mistakes? DA2 shook my faith in Bioware a little. Now I'll have to be more cautious about purchasing their games.

Honestly, I think that's because while TW2 has also limited the classic RPG game inclusions you'd expect to see in a PC RPG, it.......well, its better.

That's pretty much it, really. I haven't played it, but every single person I know out in the real world who has played both has said that TW2 blew DA2 out of the water, and just looking at 20 minutes of TW2, I can agree with them.

I assume its brought up so much because fans of DAO are trying to tell Bioware that releases like DA2 just won't fly with them and if they are going to limit and change their series, they should do it like TW2 did because that game is getting love from almost all who know of it while DA2 is getting torn apart limb from limb.
