God forbid the fans make the games and God bless the idea as well.

I've seen some amazing ideas and some atrocious ones. Lets make this a democracy and vote for who gets to make the games, eh? Hahaha

Searh your feelings, you know it to be true!

We go through so many stages of grief(like Hawke), some of the devs snark over our advice(just like Hawke's advice getting constantly ignored by some people), we think our advice matters(like Hawke's "choices" leading to the same conclusion), and we think we're entitled to stuff(like Hawke if you pick most of the aggro dialouge about the will in Act 1).

I wonder who people consider to be worse- Activision or EA.

Activision easily. They started the whole charing 60 dollars for PC games which is BS as console games are 60 because of the licensing fees. Then there is the fact they make no good games, period. Well all they make is CoD really.

I was referring to what little knowledge gamers have about their business practices and such.

Ubisoft is not Activision. Try again.

And no a game being good or bad is fact when it comes to Activision. They are the Apple of the gaming industry, aka only sustained by a bunch of idiotic cultist.

Any chance anyone is willing to go through the soundfiles in order to find ones that weren't (properly) implemented in the game itself, like Didymos did for ME2?

There might also be a chance we might find some stuff relevant to Witch Hunt and/or Amgarak, which currently aren't recognized in any way or shape.

Well, these may just be cut lines due to how rushed the game is, but here you have a bunch of lines, some implying Connor and Teagan showing up along with some which imply Cassandra was supposed to meet Hawke. And I think Terra_Ex found some dialogue that implied you should be able to bring up Flemeth to the Keeper when about to do Feynriel's Fade quest and there actually is a codex entry for Arl Foreshadow, but it doesn't seem you can get it in the game.

Whether that stuff is just the resullt of being cut, having the game rushed or just not implemented properly, only BioWare knows.

This line of thinking is a serious problem with these boards. People don't seem to understand, or dont want to understand, that Bioware and EA are the same thing. There is not one without the other. It's not just EA's fault DA2 sucked, Bioware is also directly responsible because they are a single entity.

Seriously people, Bioware = EA.

Think of it like Meredith and Cullen.

Meredith is EA, Cullen is Bioware. Meredith's the one giving harsh orders, while Cullen's the reluctant and well-meaning templar who is often forced to obey, but still Cullen can't help but giving hints once in a while he disagrees with Meredith's thinkings.

No, that's not how it works. Bioware and EA are one. They only kept the name "Bioware" rather than EA Canada or something for brand recognition. It's the same deal with Eidos and Square Enix. Technically, they're now Square Enix Europe, but they keep the name around so those that are uninformed of the aquisition wont get confused.

Also did they ever explain why they went with another VO for Anders? And Isabella? They said they changed Isabella mainly because she was the same actress as Anora, but Anora wasn't even in DA2. It wasn't as jarring as Anders since she was almost a completely different person anyway, but it still struck me as weird.

And do not expect anything more for DA3. It will be rushed since SelloutWare doesn't make the decisions and EA will do the same thing, finish off the trilogy with another crappy game, milk the cow as much as possible and close the book on DA.

It could have been an epic ride for DA but how they managed to screw it up is pretty amazing to watch.

not like its the first time EA suck dry a franchise. After ME3 the remaining hope for bioware branch lay on SWTOR and the general feeling(from forums, friends and such) say it will probably  be one of the biggest flop ever in gaming industry.

DA2 soundtrack felt weak in comparison to DAO which wasn't absolutely superb either. Still, it feels like he pulled it straight from New Vegas  since he worked on it's soundtrack as well and only slightly mixed it up. Still, ost being weak fits the game perfectly in terms of likewise quality.

But everyone has their own opinions and ,as much I am sometimes tempted to, calling 'em retarded wouldnt sit well with me ;)

The bottom line in the whole thing is this:  EA wants to be able to tell investors "we made more money this year than the company who owns Call Of Duty and World Of Warcraft".  To do this they think they need to be like that company: have at least one game operating under an MMO model, and have its other games feature console-like accessibility, multiplayer, and a DLC pipeline.

DLC pipeline - via EA and BSN, this is already in place.

MMO-model game - TOR, also with single-player adventuring under possible subscription model.  Very high risk.  Possible market maps ranging from "zero" interest to "blue ocean" unbounded number of subscribers.

Console-like accessibility goes like this:

- Mass Effect 2 PS3 (low risk entry onto PS3 platform, shakedown of ME3 engine) - success!
- Dragon Age 2 (high risk shakedown of marketing, streamlining, and accessibility features) - at about 2 million copies sold, probably a success, though the developer and the IP took a bit of an internet reputational hit
- Mass Effect 3 (high risk all-in release) - release date delayed to 2012, perhaps to incorporate DA2 feedback or multiplayer

And finally, multiplayer:

- BFBC2, Dead Space 2, Crysis 2 - dedicated fans, though none have taken over from COD in popularity nor will they
- Mass Effect 3 - nevermind possible romantic relationships, from an investor's standpoint it's the multiplayer that has to attract here.  If the Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, and Dead Space IPs could pull it off, Mass Effect could pull it off also.

Oh, and they want to continue to attract the money that is too often being invested in social gaming ventures instead.  Facebook and iOS games for every IP from now on, then!

So if you look at things from this standpoint, whether you prefer to or not, you can see that the release of Dragon Age 2 was right on time for EA.  It is a testament to the craftsmen and women, and the ability of EA to marshal external music and voice resources when pressed for time, that DA2 is as complete as it is across X360, PS3, PC, and MAC.

So knowing that ME3 and TOR are the ones that really need to win in the marketplace in 2012, does the Dragon Age team really deserve your loss of faith and trust over DA2?  If EA is successful at all with these plans in 2012, the reward for "us" might just be a Dragon Age 3 that could satisfy both us and its craftspeople much more completely than DA:O ever did.

The voice acting in the DA series is better than many games. Too bad if it was rushed though. Rushing makes it incredibly hard to focus AND maintain a decent quality level.

My favorite quote from that article though:

" I’m focusing on whoever wants to hire me! First come, first served. As long as the subject matter interests me and I work with non-****!@#%@. "

lol

Yep. And about Jennifer Hale being awesome at her work.Image IPB

I will also agree that the actual voice acting was one of the strong points from DAII. I don't really have a major complaint against any voice actor, with the exception of Jo Wyatt during personal tragic scenes. I don't really feel like my character has a strong attachment even when losing someone close to her. I haven't played a male Hawke past the prologue, so I can't comment on his actor's performance.

Jo Wyatt still did quite well though. I can't stand a humorous Hawke because some of the "jokes" are quite tasteless (bag of bones, anyone?). However, Wyatt still performs them well.

Better than the performances I've heard out of Witcher 2 for the past 10 hours I've been playing it.

Oh, the writing and voice performances in that game is just a goldmine of cringe.

lol what a joke. And people make fun of Bioware's sex scenes Image IPB

Joke? This scence blows away anything Bioware has done to date or do you prefer Bioware's polygon sex, with its clumsy kisses and puppet-like thrashing? What makes it great is that the story and scene continues showing that the developers went the extra mile and added more to is then just sex.
