i'm pretty sure this question has been asked at somepoint but since i can't find it anywhere.....
anyway, sometimes when you shoot an enemy, he/she kneels down all of a sudden which gives me a free shot or two before the enemy gets back up to attack you again...
i've been playing vanguard so i thought it only worked with shotguns but apparently it works with SMG as well
so..... like what's the mechanism behind this?
cause if i can pull this off whenever i want, that'd be pretty awesome.
plus, what's up with enemies knocking back after getting shot (by shotgun. i couldn't pull this off on other weps)
without getting killed i mean.
the "kneel before me!!" stuff

Shoot them legs ya fool!!
*ahem*
sorry..
Also worth to mention. Husks and LOKIs are weak in the knees, shoot their legs. Husks will simply die when their legs break. LOKIs are easier to bring down by breaking their legs (which will incapacitate them) or arms (they won't be able to shoot) instead of trying to completely deplete their red health bar. It's easier to aim at the legs but I like to just break them down with melee (even through armor

Enemies stagger when you hit their legs regardless the weapon used; shooting enemies in the head can trigger stagger too; shotguns are great for this, but weapons like the Mattock and Viper also have a 100% chance to stagger (headshots); you can empty a clip into a Geth Primes' head without it fighting back at all, for example. A powerful game mechanic, use it well

so, let me get this straight
when you shoot the leg, they get into the kneeling motion
and
when you shoot the head, they get into the stagger motion like as if you were on fire?
is that what it is?
plus, for shotgun do all the pellets have to hit the legs/head for the effect? or just one of them

Can the Scion's legs be shot off or crippled by shots to the leg?

oh yeah, what about krogans?
and why the heck do geth hunters fall back, flat on the ground, once staggered (i thin they're staggered, cause why else would they fall back)

Not that I know of, though I'm usually aiming higher. They move slowly enough already though that you shouldn't need to do that anyway.
