What exactly am I supposed to see in there? Skyrim is piece of joke game, infact, any sandbox rpg is a piece of joke because they will NEVER reach mmorpg level. Any game that tries to win over their fans by making "big" world is a failure. They loose resources on something they should not even work.
Single player games are about quests, COMPANIONS, stories, dialogues, lore and the world itself and not about a place that is suppose to feel big or alive. Meh, I think DA2 did good on that, not as good as DAO but atleast better than TW2 or Skyrim with their shallow, dark and boring worlds.

the 3 reason why you're opinions fails:

1. you're stating your judgement as a fact.

Me, I'm more amused at the fact that he's in possession of the Collectors edition.    Which means *somewhere* in the whitehouse,  there's some Dice, a couple of Termerian coins, a sculpture of Geralt, and a few  action figures.  lol

DA2 is one of the biggest dissapointments  this generation.
I loved Origins, played it to death.  I thought I had found a "new" developer to fall in love with.

Then DA2 came out and crushed that idea.  And Mass Effect 2 as well.  I honestly can't believe this is what's passing as a "thinking mans" game these days.  Insulting to anyone who isn't a n00b or a kid. 

Too bad Bioware; we could have made beaytiful music together.

This, times ten. Bioware games are fun, but imo rarely do they require any thinking on the player's part, especially everything past Baldur's Gate. Games like Portal or even the Hitman series instead did a much better job of making players think creatively. I wouldn't say I've found any Bioware game to be intellectually challenging.

The combat system in TW2 is about spamming quen sign and clicking left mouse button. It's also quite unresponsive at times. Not impressed. The skill trees feel extremely limited and have nothing on DA2's vastly more massive skill system, which allow for much better character customization.

There are also tons of annoying things like having to meditate before being able to drink a potion, which means if you're playing for the first time and there's a hard fight coming up you don't know about, you will die because you didn't drink the appropriate potions. You have to reload and re do the fight. Very clunky game design.

Character customization is also very bad. In DA2 you could play 3 classes and add uniqueness to them via specializations or investing in different skill sets. In TW2, you basically play the same way, borefest.

You cant spam it, magic bar runs quickly out of mana and you must combine heavy and light atack. (you probably never even played anything above easy)
Pretty much everytime you went on side quest or left the village you knew there is a possibility you will get atacked.
And no game always told you when there is going to be big battle.
For customazation dont mix magic, sword fighting or alchemy. Just go for one path.

I don’t know abaris. When faced with a difficult decision (lets use the Rachni Queen for example), I think long and hard about the options available to me and their consequences. I do understand that many are content to go with their gut, but I'm just not one of them. Anyway to bring us back on topic, DA2 will not 'get' RPG of the year, nor does it deserve to do so.

The only decision that seemed to have weight was deciding the fate of the council in ME.  Too bad it turned out to have no effect at all in ME2.

The pessimist in wants to say "wait for ME3".

But I also hoped for more to be carried over. That would depend on the game. To begin with, not every Bioware game tests one's moral compass. The majority imo do not because morality is often broken down into good vs. evil. Take KotOR for example. It's my favorite Bioware game, yet rarely (if ever) was there a scenario which tested my moral compass. If I was an evil character, I typically responded with evil remarks. And if I was a good character, I responded with good responses. Most of my responses were already predetermined based on my character concept.

Admittedly, more recent Bioware games (ME and ME2 come to mind) have gotten better about offering moral dilemmas, but these moments are still few and far between.

Most of us agrees, that DA2 is crappy. Apparently, its too crappy to compete for the RPGOTY - the reviews were pumped up, but overall it got very negative feedback. Even IGN, which tends to rate any BioWare game as high as it is possible, rated it 8.5. TW2, for the moment, recieved better reviews, and the gamers are rating the game very high. Just compare DA2 and TW2 on Metacritic, especially the user score. I can see no point in overlooking TW2 and awarding DA2. Even if so, no sane gamer would treat that kind of award with any respect.

As for now, TW2 is the strongest competitor for RPGOTY award (or at least the user-base equivalent), the other one being, for sure, Skyrim (I have little faith in DE3).

I never was a particular fan of TES series. I played Morrowind and Oblivion, never finished the former or the latter. TES is in my opinion a game, playing which is awesome for first few hours, and the more you play it, the more powerful your character is, the more boring the game gets. And the core mechanics are lame as hell. You swing your weapon like forever, after some time it doesn't really matter if you have 70 in some skill or 80, cause you can kill anything you desire, each spell looks exactly the same (small, crappy energy projectile), some skills are plain useless.

Frankly, I think that TES series need a serious revolution to compete for RPG of the year... and, from the first gameplay trailers, I don't suppose the revolution will happen. But apparently the reviewers like the mechanics I complain about, so I'm probably wrong.

Oblivion was dull as anything - repetitive and with reused environments, no less!! - and I didn't like Morrowind either.

But I found their Fallout games excellent (I also liked their game Call of Cthulhu - DCotE), so maybe they can win me over with this Skyrim malarkey.

I think that any awards panel that gave an award to DA2 other than the gaming equivalent of a Razzie would be taking the ******, frankly.

Truly, DA2 is the Daikatana of RPGs. Crappier, even, than Dungeon Lords.

The Witcher 2 was good, although it had a few performance/camera/other technical issues and was too short. Witcher 1 was a great game.

Witcher 2 is 10 times better than DA2, and I didn't play Witcher 1 and didn't even think it would be good.

However, Skyrim will win RPG of the year or even game of the year. Elder Scrolls has that much hype and a following not to mention a amazing series.

You linked Tera, the MMO failed in Korea already.  All guilds in Korea that left from Aion to Tera went back to Aion, that is how bad it is.  They already admited where they failed and are trying to making things right.

I played a 40 minute demo of GW2 and it was average, it is overhyped.  I also laugh  at the fact you called these games "sandbox", you obviously don't know what that term means.

To be honest DA2 used the same formula as ME2 did. The only reason people didn't complain as much was because ME2 was a shooter. But there were quite a few people who complained about things being stripped out, but the combat was improved in ME2 so I guess people were more forgiving.

You can't save. It's an encounter. From the ghost to the Draug, it's all one path and you have no option but to replay if you die.

Yeah, I did find that part annoying. But it auto saved in each section and they weren't long.
