Ahh I misread what you typed. I still like to play NWN2: MoTB. One of the best games I've played. Personally, I quite like the 3.5 ed rules.

Now if a toolset is released for DA2, modders will work miracles for making DA2 a playable game. Even without one, they're doing a fine job.

I was a little snarky too, no worries.

DA2 actually becomes a a much game, IMO with mods. All I need now is a mod to remove the waves, and I think DA2 can be a solid 7.5. There would still be fundamental flaws like the absolute lack of choice and recycled areas, but mods take the edge off that.

Of course, I'm including things like diversified followers armour, the companion ability unlock, coherent outfits for mages (using the Hawke finery skin), ability tweaks that bring in mage skills in line with lore, much longer cooldown on assassin, and likely many more I can't recall.

You can get these mods at DA Nexus already. I am unsure about assassin cooldown, but I think I have seen where they have a mod that eliminates them from spamming their own potions when their health gets low. The one you mention can be done with the console, for unlocking companion ability.

Yeah, I did find that part annoying. But it auto saved in each section and they weren't long.

But they forced you to use non-Geralt. It made the combat brutal, because I built Geralt differently and was forced to switch to blocking and slow, plodding melee. Not a good design at all. But it was risky, and I always give bonus points for a fun, risky design even if the implementation is poor. How else does the industry grow?

Mass Effect 2 did something similar with the Joker run. I played ME and ME2 and think ME was the superior game more of a RPG and less of a CoD shooter, but i like to fiddle with details it is how i justify a replay. Even in that case i still only played MEtwice and ME2 twice and i only played ME2 the second time after i modifyied the coalesced.ini file to negate the annoying ammo mechanic. So the complete removal of ANY character or squaddie customization options, and  the annoying ammo mechanic are primarily the resons i will also wait until ME3 hits the 20 dollar mark unless it is fixed. I intend to purchase a copy of DA2 once the value of the content balances with the price of the content which is approximately 20 bucks.

I still keep offering a deal, If i can buy DA2 for 20 bucks and play it and i find it is worth more i would be willing to admit that, kick in the difference, a fair and honest appraisal. I only cancelled my pre order for DA2 after following the development on the forums for 16 months, and playing the demo. As it is I am not going to pay 60 bucks for something i am pretty sure i am not going to enjoy, especially coinsidering i already bought Fable 3 and TW2, plus the DLC for FONV Honest Hearts, i have too much to do as it is. I need a vacation just to get caught up on my games, perhaps next month, shoot The Hunted Demon forge is going to be out, sorry DA2 you get bumped again.

Dragon Age 2...winning the RP GOTY?

I highly doubt it. DA2 has way too much negative attention. Not even the causal crowd liked the game, the only fans are mostly a few weird people on BSN.

Skyrim, that game will get RPG of the Year 100x over DA2 (even if you hate all Bethesda games, its gonna get GOTY and you know it)

DA2 will not even be nominated...

As far as I am aware, the removal of the wave system is absolutely impossible, since its burried deep in the core of the game. No modder can achieve that, and even if they could, it would be a copyright infrigement to change core elements.

Ok, I just have to know how this would work. If you buy DA2, and it turns out to be a great game for you, to whom do you pay the difference?

Donation to a charity of thier choice that they name or i will mail a check to Mike Laidlaw himself. I could also buy extra Bioware credits, there are many ways to get thiem thier vig. My belief is though that it will not be necessary, and i want to be clear here. I cancelled my pre order and i felt very very very sad to do so, and would have LOVED nothing better than for DA2 to rule. It is not the type of game i want to play, DAO was, but sadly DA2 is not. It is not really an issue as a consumer with disposable cash to spend on pretty much what ever i want, (no wife, no children, no car pmts, house is paid for, no credit card debt) with none of the typical money pits normal people have, money is not an issue for me. I bought Fable 3, The Witcher 2, and Honest Hearts Tuesday morning, and did not even bat an eye, and have yet to do anything with any of those games except Fable 3, yes i paid full price for them all.

It is not about the money it is about the principal, i expected to buy DAO2 what was offered for sale was not even remotely close to DAO i still can not figure out what Bioware was trying to do. What ever it was was EPIC FAIL, and unfortunately for Bioware i appear to be in the majority opinion. I am directly responsable for the sales of 6 additional copies of DAO upon my recommendation, but conversly i am responsable for the lack or 6 sales of DA2 or 7 if you count my lack of purchase.

Bioware made such a fantastic game with DAO and then went on vacation and let the interns run wild over the summer and make DA2. That is the only thing that makes any sense to me. There is evolution (unless you live in Kansas) the great migration of the species from the trees, and then there is DA2 which is like the whole species slathered themselves in feces and climbed back into the trees.

Good luck Bioware with all your future endeavors and when you figure out how to make a DAO quality game again i maybe interested, that is completely dependant upon how bad Obsidian and Bethesda have schooled you. FONV is awesome, FO3 was awesome, Skyrim looks to be awesome, Hunted Demon Forge looks awesome and drops next month, (another 50 bucks gladly spent), i do not know what to tell you, you have strayed from what made you, you. I would have bought EVERY game Bioware put out but you ****ed me twice once with ME2 and now with DA2, if that is your new direction i will pass. No hard feelings there is always Bethesda they do RPG right, would they love to get some of the CoD crowds money sure but not at the risk of thier core fans. A DAOer in the hand is worth 2 CoDers in bush.

DA2 won't get any awards probably. Even though the game originally received good scores (probably because it was a BW game and because of EA's and BW's ties with the major gaming services) it's being bashed as a complete piece of trash nowadays. Which it is.
Witcher 2 will probably get some awards as it set new standards for the genre (i.e. choices and consequences) not to mention that it looks much better than its competitors.
However, most rewards will probably go to Skyrim, which will probably be a bland and boring game with bad character development system and no plot whatsoever, just like its predecessor and will feature terrible FO3-style dialogues. Also it will probably turn out that most of its new features were a lie, just like "Radiant AI" for Oblivion turned out to be a fraud. Still, I'm expecting Skyrim to receive 10/10 on most major services and get most "Best Game" and "Best RPG" awards.

Here's s simpler idea; make the bastards offer refunds again, like every other industry.

Then Gaider can get on his high horse and tell people to "move on"* to his heart's content. Until that time, it's downright dishonest to push a substandard product on consumers through a marketing campaign based on deceit and then turn around and give them the finger when they feel ripped off.

Does anyone seriously think that's anything other than mindless arrogance when you have a captive audience that you've intentionally ripped off (they can't seriously have believed DA2 was worth that price given the competition)?

Gaider is god dontchaknow? He is never wrong. We as the customer can't expect quality from a develope who has only ever done quality games. How dare we expect a game to improve upon it's predecessor. (sarcasm)
