And there you have it. One of the strongest role-playing features in the game is too intimidating for too many players.

And I bet they think DA2 was pefect, granted I enjoyed it but it has serious flaws.

I don't understand why people complain that you can't create a character therefor it's not an rpg. Does anyone remember Planescape: Torment?

Timed missions aren't even a roleplaying feature...

Like others said it's very laxed. Possible to mod out and you can play Fallout 2 if you don't care for it at all.

Bethesda has EVERY RIGHT to be proud i am still playing Fallout New Vegas and it still kicks ass. I bought on release day 17 may 2011 The Witcher 2, Fable 3 and the DLC Honest Hearts for FONV. I am currently playing Fable 3 ONLY because it downloaded to my PC before the others so it was a race and Steam won by the slimmest margin and i still can not even be bothered to buy DA2 yet such in my contempt for what was done. DA2 RPG of the year that is a laugh it is not even an RPG or is by the slimmest margins. No character customization, no companion customization, combat that is nothing more than a "kite fight", a consolized bastardization of an EPIC game reduced to over hyped trash to appeal to the ADD CoD crowd.

If you want RPG Bethesda is THE only company that knows how to do it right, an RPG is all about the details. Bethesda does not get overwhelmed with thier own self importance and gets out of the player's way and allows the PC to be the MOST important character in the world. They spent the time to ensure that just about any builld can complete the game leaving alot of room for replay after replay. It is this depth that makes a truely epic RPG, not the story, it is simply here is the mechanics, here is the world, write your own story that is epic RPG that was DAO that is NOT DA2.

Is Fable 3 a truely epic RPG like FONV or FO3 no it is not but was not sold as one either, unlike DA2. Fable 3 is still however a good game, it runs well on my PC, i have not had any bugs, it LOOKS FANTASTIC, and is simple enough to be picked up yet has enough detail to require a second or even third play and in no way takes itself too seriously unlike DA2. Lionhead did a decient job with what was most obviously a console game, one can feel the influence of the antiquated hardware like the chaffing of an over starched collar the game was originally made for.

DA2 as RPG of the year man that is good i hear Charlie Sheen needs good writers OP send that one in i am sure he can use the jokes.

I'm aware. It's not something that's needed either.

And how's that a bad thing for Dragon Age 2 to get GOTY?

Besides it is very obvious that Skyrim will get it.

It is if the person handing in the quest says 'we have little time left'

I would be that^ horrified

@OP - Skyrim, it was always going to be Skyrim from the moment they announced it. I guess Deus Ex might have a chance but really Skyrim unless it's a catstrophic failure is going to win heaps of awards most likely including GOTY

Skyrim will get it no doubt. And well deserved to. I think I will be playing that game for a *very* long time. Though, I'd really want TW2 to get it since it will probably be the better game out of the two.

don't the games have to be R P G and not A S S (Action Something Something) to get this award?

Sadly three quaters of this forum cannot comprehend the awesomness of that game. Seriously that game is so good I freaking cried at the end! And I...never....cry.

They probably don't know that Witcher is focused on Geralt of Rivia with stories and characters linked to the book. As long as the game is presented and executed well from start to finish then I have absolutely no problem with role playing as a set protagonist. Didn't matter for me that I could customize my own character in Dragon Age II because execution was awful and re-playability value is at zero.

Mass Effect 2 got it last year.

Anyways, I think DA2 will get nominated, but I doubt it'd win (though it's not impossible). The RPG awards will be between The Witcher 2 and Skyrim, imo, where Skyrim clearly has the upper hand in terms of hype, but who knows...maybe it won't meet the expectations.

No. The majority of this forum can't comprehend that some people have better tastes than others or are more educated about certain subjects,  like in all things. You can shrug it off to "wowowo it's personal opinion" while I can acknowledge the people with more experience who I am more likely to seek out advice from, as opposed to newboyz on the internet who imply Planescape: Torment made them vomit.

Indeed to hate Planescape Torment is to be a moron. That game is... beautiful.

Witcher 2 will not win many goty awards, it's too much of an indie title. Not even that many publications have reviewed Witcher 2. AAA titles like Fable got about 3 times as many reviews in the same time span.

Whether it's better or worse than Witcher 2, Skyrim is going to win far more goty awards simply because it will be reviewed more.

błahahahahahahahah.... Skyrim maybe but Fable? -_-

Skyrim will have to try real hard on story since Oblivion sucked at it HARD. Good thing modders were able to salvage the rest of the game though. Still, Nords and Skyrim thats something I always wanted to see in the TES game and I cant wait to play it ;)
