And now while the rest of the world drools in awe for a fantastic game, TW2, some are betting in a game that is not released yet for GotY? Well, for me, if Bethesda keeps their tradition, Skyrim will be a good game, maybe even a great game, another one that people don't bother to go for the Main quest and just like living in there decorating their homes, like MW, or one that people will complete the Main Quest at level 1 like Oblivion. Maybe one that the player can simply go and be head of every single faction in the game, like in both games mentioned.
If anything, Gothic has always been a better game than Morrowind or Oblivion but then, Germans!!! And Germans, Poles, Russian are all the same as far as some people are concerned!
I did have fun with MW and Oblivion, usually very completionist with beautiful mods. Around 1,000 hours with 2 characters. But give me 60 Oblivion gates to close again and I'll trash the game DVD for sure! Because I can't resist... must close gates before doing anything else.. level 54 and had hardly started main quest... with both chars! If I start Oblivion this days I get really sick. And I don't doubt TES5 will have the same "put a tape on the forward key and leave character hitting the head against the wall to train skill and level up" philosophy!

I think there is a serious case of prejudice going around. Against the Poles. How can The Witcher 1 have sold some 500,000 copies in Russia and only 150,000 in the USA?

I know why your called Rage now.
But I agree. I like Elder Scrolls sure who doesn't when you play on PC and mod the hell out of the game. I expect Skyrim to get goty just because it's always by name.
Witcher 2 is MY goty. Though I'm looking forward to Deus Ex and Skyrim.

If we call Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect RPGs then Deus Ex is RPG. Simple as that.

I agree, I never thought of it as an RPG, though I liked the game a little. I only played the first one long ago, I wasn't impressed with it. Not because it wasn't a good game, just that the style of cyber-punk futuristic gameplay didn't appeal to me. I won't dismiss DE:HR though, I may get it is if it really has some good RPG elements.

The Witcher won't win. It might get critical acclaim, but it's probably going to sell all of five copies. Nobody will care by the time the award season rolls around.
You do realise that The Witcher 1 sold around 1.5 million copies right? A completely unknown European studio with their first ever game - a PC exclusive, and an RPG (NOT a shooter) - sold 1.5 million copies. That's pretty incredible.
My prediction: TW2 will sell twice as many copies as DA2 has before this year has ended. At a bare minimum.
I don't think so. There are so many piracy in PC gaming and RPG is a niche market compared to shooter and being a single player game with no multiplayer component makes it worst.
Those who purchase it are just old school RPG gamer... at least in my opinion.

Alan Wake was the second most pirated game on Xbox360, with 1.5 million pirated copies.
So shut the **** up about PC piracy when it's actually just as bad if not WORST on consoles.

That as Ringo said plus, how come TW1 sold over 1,500,000 copies with all those pirates around? I think you're too obsessed with filesharing and people downloading games for free. They do not make a difference in the sales result and I'm with those who expect and hope TW2 to sell at least some 5,000,000 copies. It is THAT good! And you know it! Pre-orders alone for TW2 are much higher than downloaded copies.

Look at this Witcher is 4th!
"Fourth in sales that's despite it being a PC-only release and the chart not counting digital sales. There's good news also for Polish developer CD Projekt - its Witcher sequel is outselling the original by three-to-one."

Especially when Digital Sales (Steam, GoG, D2D etc) for PC titles are huge in numbers compared to sales of non PC titles. Witcher 2 was estimated by professionals to sell around 4.5mil in total going off speed of sales of first one, now Witcher 2 day one saw 50% more than expected and selling 3x the original thats 4.5mil number is looking like could become atleast double that number. Also if they do release on consoles which they said interested in doing then that figure will shoot up even more.

Which is not surprising since Crysis 2 was developed with Consoles and PC in mind... Crysis was planned just for PC in the beginning and later ported over.Mecher3k wrote...
Crysis 2's graphics are worst then the original in many ways. Never mind the gameplay being ripped straight from CoD.

First Crysis and it's expansion (Warhead) never made it to consoles.

Honestly i felt even Borderlands graphics is better than Crysis 2 and it's far more fun i have in that. And on topic, how on earth will DA2 get RPG of the year? Many said the game sucks but i think the game is just mediocre. It's not bad but it ain't awesome too. Witcher 2.. i'm honest to everyone here.. it's the best RPG out of my entire PC gaming apart from BG2.. yeah it's just my opinion

In my book TW2 did beat the crap out of DA2 in every department:
* Artwork is by far superior (those flashback comic animations)
* Alchemy (DA2 does not feature an alchemy system)
* Believable World (Kirkwall is a sterile ghosttown not allowing any immersion. Any mage is a bloodmage...)
* Day and night cycle (We don't have that in DA2)
* Distribution and EULA (No draconic 28 page long EULA, DRMfree distribution via GoG.com)
* Graphics (Even while mostly utilizing dx9 feats it overall looks nicer than DA2 with HQ Texturepack)
* Mature content DA2 is rated 18 and does not deliver (except silly body explosions)
* No flying Ninja spawns
* Story is at least on par with DA2 while not ultimately offering only one possible course of the game like DA2 did
* Time spent ingame (Just reached act2 after about 30h, yeah I enjoyed walking not running while exploring that beautiful woods near Flotsam and I did check every corner possibly twice because of stunning visuals. In DA2 I spent about 55h to complete it with all sidequests but the bugged ones but thats only due to insane flying Ninja re-inforcements, take those out and you beat it in about 25-30h)
* Weather (We do have dynamic changing weather in Witcher2)
I believe DA2 does in no way deserve the title of best RPG in 2011, until Skyrim is released the title should go to TW2. I liked the storytelling of DA2 and enjoyed the characters but combat/magic is no more than button spamming, true Witcher2's combat isn't perfect as well but at least button spamming would not get you far in most cases.
