 Hey everyone,

First off, I just wanted to say that I created this account just to find out some answers here. I'm really bummed that I spent $10 on a game that I haven't been able to play all day. I've looked for hours over the Internet trying to find decent answers, but honestly, I'm no tech junkie and I have a really difficult time understanding a lot of terms and things like that.

Now on to the issue...

I bought the online game off of D2D (Direct2Drive) and the download went smooth. So I click the icon, and I'm met with a blank screen and the custom cursor for maybe five to ten seconds. After, I get an error report saying:

"Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please tell Microsoft about this problem...etc."

After searching tirelessly through threads and topics about this, I found that perhaps it's my graphics driver? According to Microsoft, I have the XP Service Pack 3 (most recent I believe) and according to NVIDEA, I have the most recent graphics driver for this computer. I scanned the hardware via game, and this is what I got. I'll bold the part that I see is the issue:

If you require my system specs, just let me know. I'm really anxious to play this game, and I really want to get my money's worth as I've been a huge fan since both Knights games have been awesome for the XBOX. I don't want my first experience with the PC to not end well.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me here or email me at mmcollver1@gmail.com

Thanks so much guys (and girls)!

Hi was just flicking through and saw this and thought hey why not give you my limited technical expertise. Got three questions:

1. What are your full system specs?
2. Have you updated the game to it's latest version? [Ibelieve we're on 1.03b now]
3. Are you sure your using an NVIDIA card cause those results seem to suggest otherwise?

Once I know a bit more I'll see if I can help a bit more specifically. If you've solved this in the month since you've posted it Happy Playing

What it looked like was an onboard chipset video chip from ATI, before the merger with AMD. Chipset video always has more trouble than real graphics cards do.

Aw man, I can't believe I took so long to respond to this. I feel like such an ass now.

Anyways, I actually am glad that I wasted that ten dollars on D2D or else I'd have never discovered Steam. I ended up purchasing the game on Steam and just running the game on my laptop which has an updated graphics card (or at least updated enough for the games I play).

Thanks so much for offering your help though. Much appreciated!
