After playing through DA: 2 as a Warrior and really liking the abilities and play style of a weapon and shield warrior I've gone back to DA: O, which I've only played through as mage previously on normal, and started a nightmare warrior playthrough, which will eventually link up nicely with a nightmare palythrough on DA: 2. I think I'm a warrior convert now, lol.
So far its going well, no injuries and only a couple of reloads, just finishing off the 3 DLC's then will begin with the Circle Tower. Normally have Alastair, Dog and Leliana in the party, sometimes swap Dog for someone else.
Gone for Berserker for first specialisation, was thinking champion for the second, for the upgraded war cry, any thoughts?
Currently got Starfang and Earthearts portable bulwark equipped, any weapons and shields I should look out for?
Any tips for using runes? Any of the elements superior?
Thanks.
Nightmare Warrior Playthrough.

Why aren't you running any mages in your party? Roleplay? Or just don't like them?
Specs sounds alright, however Berserker is more beneficial to a dual wield warrior, templar is nice for tank as you can get 100% spell resist. Champion is good for the attack and def boost, and the AoE stun is worthwhile investing in.
Cailen's Arms are a good weapon/shield set due to the damage boost:

Runewise I would say go with cold/lightning as many things in the game are resistant to fire. Or you could load up on Dweomer runes for spell resist.

Sometimes rotate Morrigan in for Dog, need Leliana for lockpicking, Alistair tends to follow me into the middle of the fighting, also being a templar makes him useful for enemy mages.
I have found the berserker damage and health regen bonus quite useful so far, was tempted by templar but thought with having Alistair around he could fulfil that role.
Might go for the dwecomer runes, damage output seems pretty decent at the moment, bit more spell resistance couldn't hurt, sometimes get frozen in place by winters grasp and cone of cold right before my strike lands.
Haven't taken it yet but is final blow useful?

Final Blow will leave you with no stamina. It's up to you, whether or not that's a big deal.
With my warrior tanks, I usually use the best 3 dweomer runes available along with the spellward amulet. That's enough magic resistance for me. Just make sure that you make enemy mages the priority when you see them as to minimize the damage they can potentially do.
Have you recruited Wynne? She's a far better healer than Morrigan (initially), and a 2 warrior, Leliana+Wynne party would be a good setup. If no one seems to be dying, then keep on doing what you're doing, but just remember that you have a healing specialist sitting there. Health poultices can then be reserved for emergencies or even sold.

Quick tip - don't forget the salves. They're great for warriors. Easy to forget, but they come in nice and useful for some of the bosses - well, the nature and fire ones, anyway. The others are a little redundant.

spirit for the archdemon Ferret, just saying
also, you could build your warrior as a more damage orientated build and Allastair as the main tank with spell resist templar gear if you wanted.
IMO final blow is awful, especially if you are a skillspammer. It doesn't particularly do loads of damage, drains all of your stam, I don't rate it.
Rest sounsds good though

On my way next to the circle so will be getting Wynne then. Usually take out enemy mages as quickly as possible, curse of mortality can be awful. Does cleanse area remove the curses effect?
Got dwecomer runes on starfang and marics blade now, nice boost to spell resistance.
Both my warrior and alistair are set up to deal a decent amount of damage and survive, making use of the 4 weapon and shield activated skills, with shield wall sustained, no knockdowns anymore.
Got Alistair kitted out with all of Cailans gear, very useful.
Will give final blow a miss, I like using the skills.

Completed Origins, started Awakening, kept the number of injuries to 0 for all companions. Archdemon fight was pretty straightforward, was expecting more of a tough time of it. Used Warden, Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana for the final fight, worked very well.
At the moment in Awakening using Warden, Oghren (re-speced for weapon and shield), Nathaniel and Sigurn both as archers, everything is falling quickly in combat. Pretty deadly combination.
