Prior to the love-making scene, Leliana is supposed to have some dialogue having to do with the warden writing in their journal, pudding and etc.  I got this dialogue as a human noble warden, but for some reason my elf mage only has the option "let's go to bed" and it goes right to the cut scene without the prior dialogue.

Does Leliana only mention pudding and sex with human wardens?  My elf has max approval and romance is active.

Here is the mentioned dialogue that appears to be inaccessible to my elf.  Spoiler warning.

Anyone with a non-human warden out there who got the pudding dialogue with Leliana? My elf just finished the Landsmeet and will be imported to Awakening soon, so he's running out of time to do "the deed" with Leliana.

Yes, I myself has played a elf-mage warden, and I also romance Leliana, but I see no dialogue about the pudding. Maybe this is not an issue.

Hmm. Had the same problem, Arthur. Except I did get the journal/et al conversation on my first elven warden but not on my second. Still have the save point from the first time, but didn't encounter it on the second playthrough. Maybe last patch borked things a bit? I finished my first run through with patch 1.02. Second was done during 1.04. Other variables might be she was at or near 100 love) when I finished her personal quest and that might have screwed things up?

My warden is Dalish and got the pudding dialog... there is no human exclusive dialog for Leliana... in fact the elves are the only ones who got exclusive dialog with her. (the Dalish even more so)

This is a random glitch and I think I got it with my male human once. It has something to do with getting her approval high too quickly not the race of the warden.

Hmm...

Getting her approval high too quickly shouldn't have been an issue since the only gifts she got were the nug and Andraste's Grace, when she was already close to maxed out. All approval before then was from dialogue and regular gameplay.

It's not a big deal. I'm just wondering why I got the dialogue with my human warden and not my elf. I thought that I must have missed something.

Leliana has many fewer dialogue options based on her approval rating. That is, if you get her high quickly and do not pick the proper options as they appear, they will never appear again until you get her approval lower. You can achieve this using console commands, dialogue / actions, or most easily you can do it with Feastday pranks.

Hmm...

Perhaps it is Shmooples' fault. That was the first "gift" that I gave Leliana and her approval was maxed afterwards. Too bad they can only have sex at camp and not in the middle of the Orzammar Commons. This particular conversation must have a very specific approval window, and having maxed approval makes it no longer accessible.

It is a bit of dialogue easily missed.
You only get it if you pick "Love?" when she starts talking about love
Pick any other option and it's straight to bed without pudding

I never got the dialogue that led to the "Love?" option on this recent playthrough. I did with my hn rogue, and I follow the wiki dialogue guides closely enough that I wouldn't have missed the dialogue if it came up.

It's not a big deal. My elven arcane warrior+Leliana had their moment of passion, without pudding, and then defeated the archdemon as a duo. On to Awakening...

To get  "love?" dialogue, Leliana must be hardened. I have never received this dialogue because I think hardening Leliana is the most evil thing you can do in the game.

not true - I managed to get it for my female city elf with an un-hardened Leliana

according to the Wiki for a soft Leliana you have to first pick the "gift from the maker" or "divine matchmaker" option before getting the "love?" option but I'm pretty certain that is not the exact dialogue I got
(she even named a variety of pudding...I think it was caramel)

Yes it was indeed schmooples fault... it has nothing to do with hardening or race of the warden. There is nothing exclusive about that dialog.

Like someone said earlier use the feastday gifts or the console to fix her approval.

How is hardening Leliana bad? She admits that she was bored in the Chantry and that her former life was exciting. By her becoming "hardened", Leliana stops running away from who she really is and she seems to be more comfortable in her own skin.

I think with my human warden, Leliana didn't have enough approval at the time to get Schmooples from the casteless dwarf and I had to make a return trip after giving her a gift. Next time I guess I'll try doing Orzammar last or not giving her the "subterranean bunny-pig" as a gift until she mentions the pudding at camp. With my elf, she had nearly maxed approval from dialogue alone, prior to getting Schmooples.

It's mostly a matter of opinion. Some people see hardening Leliana as having her going back to her bardic roots, which she ran away from once before.

Hardening by itself isn't bad... it's the way it's handled in the dialog. You basically tell her it okay to be like Marjolaine which isn't okay because Marjolaine is a psychopath.

Plus after Leliana's Song it's hard to tell her it's ok to go back to a lifestyle that caused her so much misery; metagaming or not.

I thought one of the choices you can tell her, the one my Wardens typically chose of hardening her, is the "Don't punish yourself for doing something you enjoy," which doesn't seem to be "Hey, be like Marjolaine," to me

The problem I know about concerning Leliana's approval blocks her personal quest and romance if you get her approval too high too soon. This is more about her ready for sex dialogue.
There is definitely more to it than shown in the wiki but we may never know the full variety of dialogues available (with associated preconditions).
The Wiki goes..Leliana talks - if you pick a question (twice if soft)-she then talks about pudding, other response she talks about her bedroll.
either way you should get a choice of journal, sex or end conversation

It is a matter of perception. I think she is the best "good" companion ever. She has an auro of benevolence, with her I always feel an urge to do good things. It is really hard to create such a succesful good character. Even Baldur's Gate couldn't do this; although my character was a paladin, I hated Aerie. Spoiling such a pure person seems a bit savage to me.
