I have a pixie in an inn. I want him to be invisible, how do I have him in stealth mode?:bandit:
--Further; When he is hiding, what can I do to make it so he keeps hiding until spoken to? (secret quest master):wizard:
--Extra points if you can tell me the method of reactivating stealth mode on the completion of the conversation. :police:

Unfortunately creatures don't seem to be truly invisible in the game. You tend to still see them blacked-out (I think you're supposed to pretend you don't see them). You just can't initiate dialogue or combat with them.

Although I've since noticed that if you have a party member in SoZ with the 'hide in plain sight' feat, they become truly invisible if they use it. So it seems that you can always see enemies or neutral NPCs (even if you don't want to), but sometimes you can't see your own party members.

Perhaps a better approach would be to make him 'script invisible' and have an object nearby or a trigger around him that senses when the player is near, and that the right conditions are met for the pixie to appear. Then you can make him 'script visible' again.

DannJ's method works, or you could have the pixie not there. Have a trigger round where the pixie is and if the PC triggers and gets thier spot roll then the pixie is spawned, perhaps with a suitable VFX, and initiates conversation. You can then have the pixie go invisible at the end or enter stealth mode if that is appropriate now the palyer knows the little fella/lassie is there.

DannJ is the way to go. Just a clarification, you want to use script hidden.

When switching between the two, hidden & not hidden, it is instant, there is no fade in or fade out. So you may want to use a VFX with the appearing and disapearing so it will be a bit more visually appealing.

I have a simple search heartbeat script here, which can be run from an Ipoint:

http://nwvault.ign.c...s.Detail&id=372

It currently uses the search ability as the trigger, but it could be modified to use other conditions (like a quest entry, or a plot item in the inventory, or a secret decoder ring...)

There's an option in the ScriptHidden function that allows the creature's AI to run even if they're hidden. I wonder if this allows their heartbeat script to run as well? If so, you could use the script hidden pixie's own hearbeat to run it. If not, then a nearby Ipoint is the way to go (provided the pixie isn't the wandering type).

wow that was really easy to install, I used the rock wall doors directly, I will try to adapt it to the pixie as well, though I may have further questions about that-- lets see how it goes
