After playing warriors I finally decide to make a rogue archer.....but I'm not sure if its Dex or Cun...

I had originally planned

str- 20
mag- base
will- base
dex- 30
cun- max
con- base

Mastering all the archery talents too....... is this right??Posted Image

I suggest Warrior Archer, they make better Archers then Rogues in Origins and can do the highest single target damage of any class in Awakening.

Reaver/Templar works well. (Especialy if you setup AoEs right)
Champions Rally is too much of a Staminia Drain, and +8 Damage per hit from berserk require you to have melee weapons equiped then switch to bow each time you activate the ability.

You can have a spell immune, tough to kill aoe damager dealer this way. You can even focus on Str instead of Dex and use Cross Bows instead if you liked. Also the class talents work better. Like getting stam for each enemy killed or gaining attack bonus for more enemie around you.

Just a few questions about this, as I am interested in giving Warrior Archer a shot.

First, the Wiki says that bows get their damage bonus from STR (50%) and DEX (50%). If that is correct, would there be any reason to go with crossbows which do not get any damage modifier? Aren't you going to end up with around 30ish dex anyways for the top tier archery talents?

Also, since Master Archer won't get rid of the penalty from Massive Armor, would you restrict yourself to Heavy Armor or lower?

Longbows and Shortbows are 50/50  Str/Dex and are 100% Attribute Modfier.
They require Dex to equip though.

Crossbows are supposed to be pure Str and require Str to equip. You may need to download a mod from nexus to fix that in your game.

But anyways, you only need 34 Dex to equip the best bows in Origins.
Talent wise though you only need 30 base Dex to purchase all the Archery talents, and 18 dex is all thats required to learn all the Warrior talents.  As far as Dex in concerned so you should focus on getting 26 Dex, then you will get 4 points for free from the fade. Bringing you up to 30 base, you can then get higher from equipment from there to equip items.

Strength wise, you need at least 25 Str to get all your Warrior talents, and for armor you need 34 for medium or 38 for heavy. I suggest getting 38 for heavy with buffs from equipment and aim for this set.

Now you have two options, both are acceptable.  Either focus on Str from here or Dex.    Dex ins generaly better though due to it also incresing your defense score point for point (Chance enemies have to hit you)

Read this Guide (also link in my sig)

For a better understanding of Archery, suggested builds and equipment.

Though I will add.
I highly suggest getting Reaver/Templar for the stated reasons. champion is too much of a Stam drain and Berserker is useless. Berserker might also be taken just for the Str and health class bonus though.

As a Warrior you have some decent abilitys..
Power of the Blood - Blood Thirst boosts your Crit chance by +10% (+20% with aim)
Powerful gives +25 health and -10% Fatigue
Bravery gives +3.5% (+7% with Aim) Crit chance when facing 3 enemies and gives more chance the more enemies.
Death Blow gives you Stamina for every enemy you kill.
