This is outrageous. Shepard should not cry. If Shep ever does cry it'll mean that I'll have to go back to my last save point.

This is not good news.

Even Solid Snake cried.

Ain't nothing wrong with it, unless you do it excessively.

Figure of speech folks.

Although I can see the whine thread a year from now. "But Casey promised, PROMISED my Shepard could blub his way through all of ME 3. RUINED FOREVER"

As long as it's optional and isn't forced on players that don't want to cry, it's a great addition. Just make sure to make it obvious when the option does come up.

Crying will be the results of a Renegade interrupt.

They will not be tears of sorrow, but GAR tears of pride as things blow up in an outrageous, entirely awesome way.

Um, figure of speech?

I hope, it would be uncharacteristic for my Shepard to cry.

Interrupts are usually pretty clear. They could probably be avoided.

Also, yay for more emotion!

I do not approve of Shepherd tears. She will rust.

Perhaps they'll be tears of anger. Followed by a ShepRage.

I... don't think it'll be so bad to see him crying XD
What really am wary of, is that if Shepard ends up crying, knowing how strong willed he is, how resoluted he remains even in the worse situations, is that... what kind of ****ed up situation will he front to actually make him cry... "Death" is the one word that comes to mind, and well, this makes me think that characters are going to die. Which will not be strange, since it's a ****ing war afterall. BUT, will be quite sad xD

I hope it's just a misunderstanding, and the player is supposed to be the one crying.

Then again, in ME2 the Paragon ending is the one with the huge explosion.

I'm not sure whether Casey refers to Shepard or player crying but I definitely see many forumites crying about a hypothetical option for Shepard to shed a tear.

im cool with shepard being gay, but crying? HELL NAW! don't you be wussing up shepard!

I hope this is some sort of joke..

Crying is NOT synonymous with wussing out.

It's ok to show emotion, it won't turn you into a woman.

hey, if you want your shepard to be a sissy and cry all the time go ahead. mine will be making out with dudes and chicks and not crying and being all tough and punching batarians. he dont give an F. shepard is gonna roll about the universe busting skulls and breaking hearts. he doesnt cry!

How does "You'll cry" equate to "Your Shepard will cry"? It's crap like this that leads to "BW promised Shep will cry in ME3!"

I'm going out on a limb saying that if your Shepard f***s up and lets Earth be destroyed after all he's/she's been through he/she will probably have them self a good cry.

I like the idea they said it was going to be like an interrupt and I would think BW would only use this when shep is with his LI or in private or the situation is that painful physically or emotionally. I like this idea one less brick on the shep brickwall so that'll be good. I mean Tali cried at a correct moment her dad died, Thane cries because he's actually scared of dying now that he's found love again, shep could cry when what he thought was a great tactical battle decision turned into a blood bath and 600,000 militant and civilians died because of the blunder that's not unreasonable to be upset after that.

If they do emotional icons I hope they aren't quick flash buttons like we got all of ME2 like for a crying scene maybe their conversation is really intense really hurting and as this conversation unfolds the player is suppose to feel upset as well the icon shows up but not all neon sign flashy perhapse use the Dpad on controllers? like ^= sad >= scream at them you could map all directions to mean something to cover what the players should/could be feeling at this moment in time. They have from where the writer intends emotion to hit the players till a few seconds after the conversation stops between the two characters to hit any one of the Dpad directions if they want emotions expressed if not the main convo wheel pops up.

The player would have that time to put where they think this emotion should go into sense one person may cry or yell sooner then another. If the emotion is made the character speaking may change what they were saying maybe they were talking about the death caused by sheps bad decision and she starts crying so the person goes hey wait and starts trying to either back peddle on what they said that hurt her or they try to smooth things out better. If player has no emotion then the convo still goes on talking about all the death and destruction until the convo naturally ends.

EDIT:
I would also like to be able to crack jokes regardless of my alignment with my bros and my LI w/o being a jerk or the too many jokes and they start to hate you either maybe use the left middle of the wheel for jokes and just title it joke and the person they're talking to will either respond happily or be upset shep choose the wrong moment to lay one on them.

Also no more para/ren flashy interrupts I hate neon signs in the middle of my scenes. I think they should just be one interrupt button and only use it where shep can gain tactical advantage like we did when we shot the mech when rescuing Arch Angel, when shep is offended by someone else like he was with the Krogan headbut moment, or life threatening situations like the Kensen grenade or the SB hostage those where great moments to use interrupts all other times in game where unneeded or rude.

EDIT2: I just thought of a great way to introduce the Dpad emotions during trial! Shep is being aggressively prosecuted and then we get the pop up box that says shep can display emotions and it shows a very large and clear Dpad and says what each arrow means say: up = sad, right = yell, left = defensive, and down = laugh it is explained then every time you see a little Dpad icon appears emotion from shep is possible hitting the direction on the Dpad will get the result the player chose and these will not change so say again shep and whoever are talking about  that serious convo I mention above well player hits down and shep starts to laugh well now the person they're talking to thinks shep is going insane rather then trying to calm them from them crying.

So your interpretation is instead Bioware promised that their game will cause it's players to commit violent acts?

This Shepherd wouldn't!  She would happily transcend to the next level of existance and go on to devour other civilizations.

So now Shep's Gay and can cry? Why don't you just put him in a pink frock with lacy stockings if you are going to make him into such a little b-i-t-c-h...

ONLY JOKING!!!

I think the tweet means that the player/audience will laugh, cry and then punch someone when they see the final boss is just another Terminator... again.
