On topic: Sure, why not. If its going to get more people into the Mass Effect world, go for it.
Mass Effect already has me hooked, so I don't really need any marketing. I'd rather their marketing strategy was to capture others, rather than trying to appeal the people who already know about the game.
edit: Find a model for a default female Shepard. As someone said, she is pretty fugly.

how exactly is femshep any less of a meathead?Siansonea II wrote...
+1 for FemShep trailer. I really wonder how many people out there are simply unaware that you can play as something other than Meathead John Shepard. I don't think I would ever have bought the original Mass Effect game if I didn't know about FemShep. And the only reason I did know was because a friend showed me the game and let me create a character. Female protagonist with customizable appearance was a huge hook for me, then the story and characters reeled me in. Now I've bought an XBox 360, two copies of the first game, the second game on XBox360 and PS3, and I eagerly await the third game—all because of FemShep. FemShep for the win!

Of which im still really excited about, Im looking forward to hearing what plans they may have and which direction they will take.

Right, I am editing that part of my reply out for the sake of the thread, but I still maintain that this behavior is counter-productive and uncalled for.Captain Crash wrote...
I can easily see this spiralling in a direction none of us want. Which in a thread created and run by a moderator isnt the best idea.

Anyway, would you prefer the same trailer with alternative versions for Sheploo and FemShep or different trailers?
Oh, and should the FemShep be the default one, a custom one, or should she wear a helmet at all times?

a whole bunch of stuff got spoiled in the ME2 marketing which was a bummer for me. keep it to gameplay changes and maybe generic info about non-spoilerish characters.

Button-awesome now connected in ME3? Hehehe.
I don't mind FemShep trailer though it might cause confusion since a lot of people are simply dumb. Though I fear for that trailer if this guy has anything to do with it

personally i hope they do a scan of some pretty lady to use as default femshep like they did for sheploo. i dont really think anyones femshep looks the same, look at the crazy range in the femshep thread. though i can see that backfiring as well, as sheploo has been the default shepard since the beginning everyone accepts him as shepard but everyone has a different idea of what femshep looks like.Phaedon wrote...

like i wouldnt see femshep being a super attractive chick, that'd be really weird and would make me not take her seriously. ive seen femsheps that look way too good to be a believable space marine badass. she should look hard and rough not cute and dainty
