@Clonedzero That would be interesting, but it's probably too late to have a potential new Default Shepard become an iconic Shepard like Sheploo. I wouldn't certainly not mind it, though.
I think part of the appeal is she isnt iconic or has a set image unlike male Shepard. Bioware I believe still have the flexability to show off another femshep model if they choose. After all most the art and videos out there dont often show Default Jane. Femshep really does have much more scope.
This isnt a knock on default, but more of an appreciation at how femshep is certainly much more diverse and doesnt instantly conjur up a set image. Especially when you explore the femshep thread or the Deviant Art Group and see all the variations and diversity out there.
However I think because of what we know as default, Jane would be chosen for any endeavour. Simply because she will be the most used face for femshep and therefore easily recognisable. Plus she isnt an "individuals" femshep. Shes everyones potentially.

+1 for FemShep trailer. I really wonder how many people out there are simply unaware that you can play as something other than Meathead John Shepard. I don't think I would ever have bought the original Mass Effect game if I didn't know about FemShep. And the only reason I did know was because a friend showed me the game and let me create a character. Female protagonist with customizable appearance was a huge hook for me, then the story and characters reeled me in. Now I've bought an XBox 360, two copies of the first game, the second game on XBox360 and PS3, and I eagerly await the third game—all because of FemShep. FemShep for the win!
She doesn't have Sheploo's meathead appearance. You know, appearance? Pretty much all you can evaluate about Shepard from a trailer? My point was about Marketing. How Marketing didn't help me to discover Mass Effect in any way. Was that not clear?

personally i'd prefer if they scanned in 3-4 high quality faces for each gender. i always play as sheploo because its just so much higher quality than anything ive tried to make.Vertigo_1 wrote...
You know I wish Femshep could be modeled after someone like DudeShep was (default). I think it would make it moreBUTTONawesome for a trailer.

I don't see what a game's trailers have to do with whether or not it's been dumbed down. Some crappy games have had trailers that made them appear awesome, and the other way around; it's all about appearances.
Also not sure what to make of the smugness of some of the female-Shepard "supporters". It's not like that will affect the game, or as if there was a war going on about which Shepard-sex was the best. Or so I thought.

I agree. They are carbon copies of each other in all attributes. she is equally as strong, doesn't show any more emotion, isn't any more or less persuasive, has the same dialogue, etc. I don't get it either.
I think its internet nature to pick a side and demonize the other, even when the difference is negligible.
As I alluded to before, marketing is simply promotion. Its true that you can make a female Shepard, so it makes sense that they would market it.

I agree as well. I honestly don't understand all this hype is about & why it even matters.

I say no to FemShep in any trailers. It will, as pointed out, cause unnecessary confusion amongst the playerbase. The Shepard used in every trailer, cover and marketing artwork has been Sheploo, and to change it would be a jarring direction for the franchise. You simply cannot expect that the millions of players out there waiting for ME3 will have put as much thought into this as the very small percentage of people here on the forums have.
Consistency will help sell the game. Let's stick with male Shepard.
I understand this is for ONE promo/trailer. My opinion on the matter still stands.
Question for the Marketing guy! When can we see a Mass Effect LEGO series? ;D

Why would it cause confusion? This game lets you customize your own Shepard right? If anything using the same guy over and over again would contradict that. I didn't even know you could play a female Shepard in this series tell someone who played the game told me you could.
Sheploo is the iconic face for the Mass Effect game series. Replacing that would be like replacing O'Neil from the Stargate SG-1 show mid-series with a female actress that does the same things and says the same lines. That's something in marketing you just don't do. It has nothing to do with male vs female.

I wasn't aware there was an iconic face, if there is, then a good number of players seem to ignore it, which means it is no longer Iconic.
Besides SG-1 is a show, Mass Effect is a game. You don't have imput over character decisions or story progression in a show, but you do in a game, or at least you get the allusion of choice in a Bioware game.
I don't see the harm in having one or two promos with a female shep in them.

I think the iconic, banner thing about Mass Effect is CHOICE. Using multiple character images sells their core premise. I think the use of Sheploo exclusively is a disservice to that, and inferior to using femshep.

That's about the only thing I can think of, honestly, Marketing has too many buzz words and too little real info for my tastes.
He'd have to start talking about the game without using buzzwords for me to listen much. I'd be the first in line if he'd talk about how past choices potentially affect ME3, or the new RPG aspects that are supposed to be present, or how weapon modding works.
