They're always on for me. I should probably try without to see the difference.
Film grain and motion blur.. Do you use them?

I didn't like film grain - looked too blurry, and I like a crisp look to action games. Turned off motion blur - makes me queasy.

Something about the motion blur and film grain in the first game was really good, second one I don't think I even noticed (in fact did the second one even have it?)

I liked ME1's film grain better, but I did leave it on in ME2. Not sure about the motion blur...

Yes, number 2 has it also.
It appears as though if people have an old television set, its better to keep them on..
Where as if you have a HDTV then its better to have it off as it hides the resolution somewhat.

I like and use the film grain since this is something I associate with human vision. Motion blur, however, is something else and something visually displeasing, so, it gets turned off.

Never used film grain - tempted to run through a game with it on for curiosity's sake. As for motion blur... never really messed with that one, so if it's turned on by default, then I guess that works for me. xD

I was so new to gaming when I first played ME1...I didn't know why the picture had that horrid grainy look, hated it and was about to give up on the game, when I whined to hubby about it..
..He fixed it and made it all better for me....
...
....what a noob I am....
...
...He removed motion blur while he was at it, I get queasy easy...

Actually, at least in the PC version, there WAS motion blur and film grain, though to activate it and deactivate it you had to go to the configuration tool through the main menu, before launching the game, I THINK. Dunno about in game really.mattahraw wrote...
Motion blur was gone in ME2 was it not? I definitely missed it, actually.
I turned off both motion blur and film grain in ME1, but in ME2 I stayed with the motion blur. Film grain was never appealing to me since you couldn't like in L4D graduate it, I like a tiny bit of film grain, but not so many xD

film grain - on
motion blue - off
film grain make it look like I'm watching a movie at the cinema.

I discovered that filmgrain enhances the visuals in ME2, unlike in ME1. Just recently turned it on and was surprised by how much more texture the game appeared to have without beeing as intrusive as in ME1.

I always have them both on unless I'm capturing videos/screenshots.

I'd remember turning something off in ME, but there is an option to do so in ME2?
I need to play this game again someday and find out what it changes.

Depends on how it's handled. For ME/ME2 I have both off.
