For some reason the toolset just wont open if i have CA Security Suit 2011 installed on my comp. starts right up if its uninstalled but what good is that doing me, letting my comp unprotected.
The toolset exceptions are added to the firewall and i even tried the data prevention method and it simply will not start up. The process opens but no Toolset opens.
Hell i even wiped my comp and started fresh and it STILL wont load up with CA security installed. I am out of ideas for possible solutions. Ive browsed the forums for anyone having the same problem and mine seems to be unique.....
Any advice on this annoyance would be appreciated, other than lose this garbage security suit =P
ty in advance

Two options. Contact the company about the issue and ask them whether it is possible for you to add the toolset to a local exclusion list or if they could add the toolset to their whitelist. Alternatively, get a decent AV package.

Spent the last 2 hrs with a ca tech using remote access to my comp and came to the conclusion that its hopeless. He couldnt figure out what the problem is. Good Bye CA, Macafee anygood?
Ive had problems with other apps doing this same thing with CA so its as good as gone

Im thinking it was a resource issue, the new CA security uses alot more memory to operate than the previous version. Im wondering if the toolset simply ran out of memory to fully launch. if that made any sense..

Could always just unplug your network cable, uninstall the AV, reboot, and see if things improve.
Just my opinion, but most of the bigger name brands like McAfee, Norton etc, are just useless bloatware.

I'm no expert, either, but the free version of AVG seems adequate and works with the toolset.

I suspect that all AV tools have issues with resource consumption and compatibility. For example, with AVG, disable Identity Protection if you like to use Internet Explorer.

Microsoft Security Essentials (free) is another suggestion and from what I have seen it must be very light also. That and windows firewall should be ok for casual use.
