Do you cosplay?
If yes, then what characters have you cosplayed (pictures!) and what do you have planned for the future?
What cons do you attend? Do you make your costumes or buy them?
If no, then what do you think of cosplaying/cosplayers, and if you had to cosplay who would you be?
And any general talk/thoughts/ideas on the topic.

It's not really my cup of tea, but I can see the attraction.
Like anything, I think some folks go overboard with it and it gets to be a little weird...but those that do it casually are doing it to express their creativity which is always cool.
I've seen pics of some pretty amazingly detailed costumes...I wanted to add a picture of Jack from Mass Effect to the pics I have in my sreensaver slideshow and when I did a search I saw a woman who had the full look including all the Tatts, whoever helped her (I don't think it's something that was physically possible for her to do on her own considering she had all the back tattoos) did an amazing job!

I don't, but me and a Friend have talked for years on going to a Anime Con down here, with me dressed as Kenpachi and him as Byakuya. But nothing comes of it, just like me and my nephew thinking of dressing up as Mario and Luigi and carrying out some pranks. Such as going to the Golf course and hitting flaming golf balls while I speak as Mario or Luigi (I can do both very well) and record the reactions. Ah well. And I did once try and join the Mandalorian Mercs, but I'm not skilled enough at shaping plastics and metal, nor do I have the money to buy that stuff. And given changes in SW atm I moved away from it.
So a No. As to opinions like everything, good, bad, and ugly. Some people just need to be told, no your ugly, get mad about it and try and attack me in the parking lot and I'll Bleed you >>. Well maybe not all of that or in that manner, but you get the point. Some people look grade F-ing A and nearly like a clone, and obviously placed alot of work into it, and I see no harm in it.
And as for the bad, I remember this one incident with a FF7 cult formed by stuff like this, when people actully think they are said character. Nothing wrong with being IC when wearing the stuff imo. And should I dress as Mario, short of toa policeman I will speak and act as such. But at the end of the day I know I'm not Mario. Some people would dress like that and think they really were, and are an unstable and dangerous bunch.
Overall I have nothing against it, minus the Bad and the Ugly, it can add a bit of spice to life.

I really don't get the whole cosplay thing and as such find it childish. It's like watching grown ups run around play batman and robin or spiderman.

A example of the Ugly. Honestly I couldn't find a good Batman Cosplay... So I counter with this as the Good.

Oh, Zmajc...
How can you not like it? That guy is absolutely the spittin' image of how I always pictured Batman if he were real. He IS the Night!

No I don't but there are some really great looking and talented people who you can see have put loving care into their creations. I enjoy seeing images of people with their creations.

I admire the dedication and skill of certain individuals who cosplay. Some of these outfits are insanely detailed and intricate, which is impressive when considering that they're often 100% accurate.
This image is a personal favourite:

James Sunderland, from Silent Hill 2. I do like how he has been placed in an area that obviously resembles the game's apartment buildings.

Why does it have to be childish? Some people really do amazing costumes. Here are some

It strikes me as weird as in it's something I can't relate to, even if I try.
There are often show cases on kotaku, well I've seen weird ones and good looking ones.
But baseline is I don't really know what to think of, it's like people watching sport(I prefer participation) don't get the appeal of that either.

That second Morrigan is great. First one is cute, but somehow she just doesn't quite pull it off, I wonder why...indeed I do wonder.
I've been known to dress pretty absurdly just going to dinner, so there isn't any reason I wouldn't cosplay, but I just haven't got the skills to make a decent costume and I feel like I'd want to have something that was quality. Either that or embrace my lack of craftsmanship and dress up like Spongebob with a yellow cardboard box.

I haven't cosplayed and most likely never will.
However, I think cosplay is quite cool if it's good. If it isn't, they are just assaulting the character and tarnishing the reputation who actually put effort into it. I certainly have no problem with it.
If I had to cosplay, I'd choose something extremely simple and boring, something that doesn't require make-up

Too lazy to put in the effort. But I think it's an awesome concept.
Couldn't have the guts to do it alone but if I was with someone that was into it I would happily participate.
