Hey guys, first time posting. Just about every cutscene in the game that I view seems to have a stuttering problem (these are not the in-game cutscenes, but the pre-rendered ones, like when you're leaving your origin to first go to Ostagar). Basically what happens is that the audio plays on a milisecond loop and the game locks up for a minute or so, and when everything comes back in, the delayed audio will play over the audio from the scene that I am currently viewing. This is a very annoying problem, as I just had this happen during a late-game cutscene and I want to be able to experience the whole story. I can skip over this if I'm quick enough by hitting escape, but I'd just like to be able to watch the cutscene rather than sit there anticipating one with my finger over the escape key. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My system specs:
Video Card: GeForce 9800 GT
Intel DuoCore Processor E8400 @ 3.00 ghz
3.0 GB of RAM
If you need any more info, please let me know. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem
Processor Manufacturer: Intel
Processor Name / Type: Pentium D
Processor Speed: 3.4Ghz
Operating System: Windows XP Pro SP3
System RAM: 4.0gb (3.25gb maxed out in XP)
Video (GPU) Manufacturer: Nvidia
Video Card Model: NVIDIA Gforce 9600 gt
Video Card Driver Version: 182.08
Video Card onboard RAM: 512mb
I'm already setting the Processor Affinity to processor 1 in order to keep the characters from shaking during conversations.

I only have that type of problem with cutscenes that are triggered right after a battle.
Also, I don't think there are any pre-rendered cutscenes in the game.

Bump. While this isn't a game-breaking issue for me, it's still rather annoying, as I'd like to watch the cutscenes. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm already running the game with only one of my processors in effect because otherwise it overloads my PC and causes an automatic shutdown after a short period. Had the same problem with the character creator.
If there aren't any temporary fixes for this, I sure do hope that a patch comes out that solves both my issues.

I'm having the exact same problem. Interestingly I'm using a GeForce 9800GT as well. I hope it's not related to the card. I have also set my affinity to just one core to resolve my game running at hyper speed during play, but now any "pre-rendered" cutscene that plays, aside from the opening cinematic, freezes with the audio looping for a few seconds before playing with the dialogue from different characters all running at the same time. This renders the shorter ones unwatchable, since they're over before I can make any sense of them. Any help is appreciated.

i used to have this problem, i did two things to sort it, and i'm not sure which actually fixed it so i'll give both
update your graphics driver to the latest version using the manufacturers website(this does seem to happen most often on the geforce 9 series), the one you want is still in beta i believe.
it could also be an overheating issue, so either you can open up your comp and dust it or use a vacuum through the air vents to dislodge any dust build up.
hope that helps.

btw, the only pre rendered scenes in the game are the archdemon dreams and the battle at ostagar, everything else uses the in game engine.

Well, I upgraded mine to the "195.62" drivers, which is the latest release and no longer in beta. I can't find any later releases that are beta. This didn't resolve the issue, though it appears to have cleared up an issue with audio tracks lagging behind the video.
I don't believe it's an overheating issue, because it happens as soon as I boot up the game after leaving the PC idle, so the graphics card wouldn't be working at all. I guess I can power it off overnight and see whether that makes a difference.
Just to note, I have so far experienced the issue with the following cutscenes:
- Human Rogue Origin cutscene (before you're attacked).
- Journey to Ostagar after leaving with Duncan in any origin.
- Battle of Ostagar cutscene.
- Loghain sending the elven assassin after you.
- Loghain, Howe and his daughter having a conversation.
All seem to be "pre-rendered" though I'll freely admit my technical knowledge isn't enough to accurately judge. Either way the opening of all plot cutscenes stutter for several seconds, even half a minute, before it resumes with the audio playing catch up all at once.
Thanks for the suggestions, though, it's much appreciated!

Also having this problem, currently unable to get past the Landsmeet due to the cutscene freezing repeatedly
No cooling issues and drivers all up to date. Some other scenes have also been like this but I've been able to bypass them by quickly hitting ESC to cut to the next dialogue choice....on the Landsmeet cutscene (fight against Loghain) it freezes to the point where I have to CTRL/ALT/DEL to get out of it.
Very annoying as rest of game has been running perfect. IS this part of the memory leak issue? Was not going to update to the latest patch until my next playthrough, anyone know if this new patch fixes this?

It happens from time to time and this is related to the alleged memory leak.

Well just finally managed to get past that scene....still choppy as hell but just barely got past it.
Seems to be more an ATI issue from other posts (which I run)....have updated to latest patch....still just as bad here.
