[JME III]

I will be upgrading my 360 soon and was wondering if I transfer all my mass effect saves on to my new console will I still be able to import them to mass effect 2.

Sorry if this was already dealt with I did use the search function but could not find anything.

Depends on how you transfer; if you use the transfer cable from Microsoft, you will be able to import with no problems. Otherwise, you will have to replay the final battle against Saren on the new 360 once you've moved your saves there so that the hidden save that is read by the importer is registered on the hard drive. Note that this must be repeated for every career you wish to import.

EDIT:   I'm assuming you're upgrading to the Slim, because if not, you don't have to do anything other than simply plugging your current hard drive onto the new console.

If you use a transfer cable or an MU and use the Transfer function to transfer your console's publisher data to your new hard drive, then yes it will work.

If you just copy your save files, then no it won't work. However, incase you screw up and only copy your save files, you can always load a save right before the final boss and beat the game. This will enable it for ME2 import.

Does the dashboard's Transfer function actually transfer everything, though -- including the saves hidden in the system cache?

Yeah I have the data transfer cable from microsoft so it all should transfer across fine.

thank you both for replys I can only assume that when I transfer my ME2 save files across consoles using the cable that they will be ok to import to ME3 aswell ?

It does. Using the dashboard transfer function with an MU is the only way to view the hidden game complete files and is one of the few ways to clear them from your hard drive. It's in a folder called "Publisher Data" that you can't normally view by browsing the system memory.

Well, my saves are all on an memory card, and I'm upgrading to the Slim soon so I need to move them to a USB flash drive to use on the Slim. I'm thinking about doing this, but does it allow me to CHOOSE which [hidden] career(s) I want to transfer? Because I have two Shepards, one of them I kept NG+'ing and as such I have a total of 7 different completed saves as him, as opposed to my Adept FemShep who only has one completed save. Now if I use this transfer function, will it allow me to pick which particular files I want from those 8 files? Because I only want a specific two of them, not all.

I don't think so. As I understand it, they're all lumped under one file. So it's all or nothing.

However you can always not transfer them and assuming you still have the pre-Saren save file you can just beat the game once on each character to create your 2 perfect end game hidden save files.

I figured as much. I'll just stick to the original plan and re-beat Saren on the Slim. Thanks for the confirmation.
