Eherm, so yea. Mini-games as a means to encourage deeper interaction and bonding with companions, while they are fully dressed.

Oh, so a little costume play, then?

I've played enough to know that the combat balance is broken to hell, and it was just swearing for swearing's sake.

How much have you played it? I'm surprised because the question you asked is answered in the first 1% of the games story. The game does have an extremely steep learning curve and the combat is frustrating at the start.

I ws wondering that too, when the king gets...its in the first hour or two of the game lol

I'm twelve and what is this.

Not to interrupt but another thing I'd appreciate would be patching out the DRM. SecuROM was apparently responsible for a massive performance loss in the retail versions of The Witcher 2. We really shouldn't have to use cracked files in order to play our games as intended. Dump SecuROM for good.

Well yea they should be optional.

And I prefer as much puzzles as possible. TW2 had some but they were not hard enough. Kotor had several. Some were just interrogations, but they were loads of fun. Some were complicated mathematics, which I remember loving.

Shooting pyjacks, you mean?  I actually did like that, and I usually hate stuff like that.  I was talking about hacking terminals and circuit bypass.

I loathe puzzles as a rule.  Image IPB  RPGs should be about the story.  I don't mind if they're there, I just don't want to be forced to deal with them much.

And don't knock scanning planets... I found that strangely mesmerizing, too.  In the same way I could sit slackjawed for hours decorating my houses in Fallout and Oblivion.

Because if traps don't work the first six times they are bound by logic to work the seventh time.

Anyone else watching that and just saying "Axii" to themselves over and over?

Oh. and screaming about not being able to parry when his vigor is depleted is just about priceless.

Do not borrow anything ever. That's what kills DA2 - it tries to take elements that worked well in ME2 and fails because the game is too eclectic. Just create a consistent game where all elements work in unison.

Very good point. No borrowing from ME, borrow from DAO. Image IPB

Dragon Effect or Mass Age - I'm sure the ME crowd would love to see elements from Origins thrown in

Doubtful, complex things like more than 4 skills to invest in and customizing their entire party's gear is prolly too complicated for them to grasp.

Yea pyjacks sorry.

And I guess hacking are technically mini-games. But I meant something more along the lines of having fun while free. I doubt Shepard was having fun hacking in hostile territory. Or that squad mates were enjoying watching him do it.

Dude, get over yourself, it's a game not a war, and if someone spends 50 bucks on a game they should be able to enjoy it.

Elements that should not be taken from TW2:
Boxing
Armwrestling

Even the minigames in Fable 2 were better than this, and made more sense.

Funny, I felt the same way about DA2. And I paid more for it. Yet on this forum I was called a hater, elitist, un-adaptable, narrow minded, short sighted and just plain stupid for not catching the uber, epic wonderfullness of the meta game of DA2.  I feel your pain.

And in your opinion those things like boxing, and arm wrestling shouldn't be taken from TW2. On one hand I agree. On the other, the puzzles (like in DAO) were sorely lacking. The first set of barrels in the Fade of DA2? Seriously? Then the second set?  oohh, wow!

At least the boxing I can pretend it is the hospital that refuses the cancer patient (who finally found a donor for a blood marrow transplant) that they won't perform the surgery that will save his life (if he doesn't have it he has about 3 months) unless they get their 4k up front. His sister called me in tears. Yes, that was the sum total of my lovely day today, how about you? Anyone who says the love angst...sure, PM me. I have plenty of angst for you to fulfill your angsty needs.

So in my opinion, I don't mind beating the snot out of someone. But I would prefer to keep it in TW2.  I would prefer to have BioWare go back to DAO, not TW2 for inspiration. I will gladly keep my Witcher and my DA separate.  Are there things BoWare could learn from TW2? Oh yeah.

But really, BioWare you should stick with what they do best, and stop trying to be all new, hip, colorful, bright, in your face, lets grab the kinetic new folks crowd. You want a lesson from TW2 and CDProjeckt, BioWare? Make games for the crowd that loved you to begin with and stop trying to serve multiple masters. And no, that doesn't mean don't try new stories or new things, but if you are going to do one, pick one, no flashback for the whole damn thing, and tell it well. No rushing your genius this time. And for ****'s sake, drop the anime bubble gum Twilight/DIsney crap mixed with darker themes. Pick one. Either go sparkle vampire, cutsey, "don't ever leave" melodrama or go with adult themes and dark grit. It makes me bipolar trying to figure out which audience your're trying for. Oh, and get the ME out of DA. It doesn't belong there, no matter how popular ME is, or how well it worked for a Sci Fi shooter/RPG.

The fans you had were loyal and will gladly get more audience members and fans for you if stop treating us like were are just not good enough for you anymore when it comes to game play and that we don't make you enough money.

Where will all these new audience members come from? How will they be recruited? How many new audience members have each of us introduce to DAO? So EA/Bioware should stop advertising and let the loyal fan base bring in the numbers? How are you going to bring in the Half-life or COD crowd or even a portion of it.

You cannot mean the Witcher or Skyrim crowd because all of them play CRPGs and proably already play Bioware games. So no new numbers there.
So who are you going to bring in? You cannot bring in numbers unless you have a product that appeals to the new audience members.

Actually I can answer that! I have many friends who are console players who haven't tried ME or DA yet. I have been chatting them up, pointing then in BioWare's direction. One friend is rubbing my PC elitist nose in LA NoireImage IPB the cheeky bugger! He has friends who play consoles and they have friends... I really have been chatting up ME and DA for him. Well, and Witcher2 when it goes console.

And DAO is still selling and it sold very well.

Which means the new audience members are coming from the console players who play COD or Battlefield. The very people everyone says that DA2 is aiming for.

What could they take from the TW2..visuals that are pleasant to look at; monsters that don't look like cartoon versions of themselves (ogre and darkspawn, I'm looking at you, pointing and snickering)Combat that doesn't involve parachuting enemies and clicking super fast.

Better yet, instead of looking at TW2 for inspiration, they could look at some of their older games;
Thing is, I don't think Bioware wants to make a game like TW2. TW2 is geared for the PC; DA2 was made for what they think the console crowd wants: Diablo combat with some talking to companions. Cartoon monsters and fetch quests. They programmed down to what they think consoles demand.
Honestly, I don't think I'm going to bother with a wish list for DA3. I think I'm going to start a pool instead on what they're going to make worse this time; dwarves that look like smurfs, perhaps? I'm still hoping for the Qunari to complete their transformation into cattle and have one that I can ride into battle.

Maybe Morrigan can be redesigned like Anders...hey..now there is a fun mini game idea. Thinking of Anders...you can roll around the countryside blowing up chantrys. Maybe as the little people come running out, you can shoot them arrows. As they lay their dead and smouldering, Anders can lift up his dress and urinate on them; 'Take that, mage oppressor!' That should be fun for the historically illiterate/hate organized religion crowd that seem to infest these forums. Wow, I should totally get a writing job for DA3 based on that idea. Not.

I believe Garrus was too busy calibrating to care either way about what Shepard was doing.

Vernon Roche is such a man. He's the only person capable of incessantly messing up and then making it seem as if he planned it from the very start.

Especially in Act 3 if saving Anais.

Which brings me to this. Yes, DA has companions and TW2 does not. That said, the characters in TW2 feel more active and even on par with Geralt, in part thanks to scenes like this (and the one with Geralt and Roche teaming up).

One thing that I did not like in DA2 is that every finisher cutscene is Hawke *on his own*. Why not a collaborative finisher cutscene? I know, it would probably be difficult as team build up could be different. But they could have set moves for mages / warriors / rogues irrespective of which companion exactly.

Agreed. I felt closer to Vernon than I ever did Varric or whatever. And I think the hangout quest with the Blue Stripes just made me like hm that much more. Geralt: I did WHAT?!

And I think the 18 month dev cycle really ruined any plans of deeper interaction with companions, both in- and out of combat.

I think the combination of said 18 month dev cycle and some questionable design decisions in the first place ruined quite a bit.

Is he the one that gave me that tatoo...on second thought don't tell me. Even if it was his men, he's responsible for their actions.
