I think the combination of said 18 month dev cycle and some questionable design decisions in the first place ruined quite a bit.

Forgot about companion interactions being labeled as quests. Another reason I dislike DA2: It implies companion interaction is a chore.

Wow, took him that long to realize the shield guy was a threat.

Seriously, imagine someone like Garrus doing this.

That is Ser Jory at his best!

Garrus would obviously need just one punch rather than three, though.

One thing BioWare should definitely not learn from CDP: file management.

Was the universally-accepted explorer design pattern too hand-holdy for them? =/

Speaking of minigames, I would like to see a fighting minigame like the brawls in Fable. That damn Mayor of Knothole Glade was a monster. Also maybe something like Chinchirorin from Suikoden.

Things to take away from TW2 while not just copy/pasting it;

The possibility for honestly hard game play via difficulty settings. Not to say TW2 is hard, because my last play through on Hardmode felt easier than my first play through on normalmode BUT the TW2 style of combat really does reward creative thinking in combat and punishes you severely for just mashing buttons and not thinking ahead (see earlier video of teenager screaming about combat while not buffing himself and trying the same thing over and over again). I really dislike the idea that a game can be made harder merely by giving the mobs more health and higher damage output. This does not necessarily make for a harder encounter, it's just a recipe for a longer one.

Introduce more honestly mature content if the goal is to make a dark fantasy game. I see some people complaining about the profuse swearing, the constant references to rape and the overall carnality of the game. Why? It's a dark fantasy setting. DA:O and DA2 deal with rape, genocide, prostitution, murder and slavery. They just tiptoe around certain taboos to the point where it feels more immature than TW2's direct approach. If you are going to incorporate dark subject matter into a game than come at it directly and honestly or don't do it at all.

Something I do hope they copy from Witcher 2. Remove the DRM and give us better support. Seriously a 9 gig patch after 1 week and DRM is removed from every version!

It's only 9 gb because Steam sucks and downloads everything all over again no matter actual size of the changes. It's 16 mb or so patch otherwise.

But yes, it's nice.

Suck it up, princess!  [/sarc]

I like the comment someone made on gog.com that if you ditched the game, it's because you lack the maturity needed to appreciate it.  Image IPB

*facepalm* ignoring yours then.

@tmp7704  ah didn't Know but still one patch and DRM has been removed. Look at DA2 no news has even been given if Bioware is even bothering to patch the game.

Wait, so the comment "stupid comments are best ignored" is, itself, a stupid comment, and you point this out by saying that you are going to ignore it, thus following the now-stupid rule of "stupid comments are best ignored?"

Good one.

I saw absolutely no need for a hostile response to Zjarcal's comment.

Telling someone, essentially, 'the only reason you didn't like this game is because you weren't mature enough for it' is silly. It was silly when people were doing it to those who disliked DA2, and it's silly now.

Perhaps cut it out with the knee-jerk responses?

Quite fiendishly......

Anyways, stupidity knows no bounds and no limitations by time and space. So yea, ignore them.
I can understand TW2 not appealing to many people, in regards to many things (like combat).
I would however recomend at least trying it out in the future, as rent or whatever.

Well, CD Projekt RED just released all the pre-order DLC for free here along with the patch.

Now that's something BioWare could learn from.

Yeaaaaah... they 'could' learn from that. Although what amounts to DLC remains to be seen since Projeckt RED stated all future DLC would be free. Troll Trouble (the first TW2 DLC for those who don't know) was REALLY fun, but it was also not terribly long in comparision to most of DA:Os and ME2s DLC. It felt more like a interesting way to get people to register the game rather than DLC as we know it from Bioware games. It was just an extra quest albeit a fun and multifaceted one.

Now if TW2s free DLC turns out to be of the same calibre as stuff like Leliana's song and Wardens Keep (i.e. new maps or bringing back voice actors) then that will be just an amazing feat.
