Hello everyone. This is my first post for a guide and I was almost too shy to post this but I've come up with some tips if you want to RP as a Tevinter Mage. I'm also open to any other suggestions if I've forgotten anything. I'm aware I may have made a few spelling mistakes but the spell check on here doesn't seem to have charecter names.

1. For my party, I use Fenris, Varric, and Anders. My
reason for using Fenris is because he's a Tevinter slave so why not use
him as a bodyguard until Magister Danarius tracks him down. Then you can
rightfully return him to his Master like a good imperial citizen.
Second, I chose Varric because Tevinter has a good relationship with the
Dwarfs. It was the Dwarfs that built the 3 giant golems that guard
Minrathous. 3rd, I picked Anders because he cares only about Mages and
wants to see them become independent (like a pre-tevinter perhaps?).
Also he's a good healer.

2. Chose Blood Mage as soon as you hit level 7, since almost all mages in Tevinter use blood magic for they're needs.

3.
In the quest where you go recuse Fenryl from the slavers (when you
first met him) let Varric talk to the tevinter slaves and you can walk
away with some money plus you let the tevinter's leave alive.

4.
In the quest just before the one mentioned in step 3, when you talk to
the tevinter mage in darktown, let Fenris "talk" to them and then you
can get a choice whether or not to let the mage go, so pick yes.

5.
In the cave during a Fenris quest to confront Hadriana, make sure to
pick up the Imperial Chantry amulet for Anders, and keep Orana as a
slave (ticking Fenris off in the process). It's been awhile but I don't
remember if there's a way to let Hadriana live or not.

6. In the final battle pick to side with the mages, obviously.

7.
In the game I noticed a couple Tevinter specific items like a Tevinter
Slaver Cowl and Ring of the Ferryman (which can be bought in the Wounded
Coast in Act 3.

8. In the quest where you enter the Fade, refuse
the demon's help and make sure you help Fenryl out of the Fade. You're
charecter will suggest he should go to Tevinter to get help in using his
powers, so he does. You'll get a letter from him later saying how
popular you're character is after the defeat of the Qunari.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Thank you for reading it and I welcome any other additional tips.:)

Interestingly, I do almost all of this anyway (although bringing Fenris to the slaver battle in Wayward Son prevents any diplomatic solution), except that I start out as a spirit healer and become a blood mage at 14.

It doesn't actually, your decision will just effect the friendship or rivalry you gain with fenris. I think if you let the slavers go you will get rivalry points from Fenris which if you were rping as a good little Tevinter you'd probably be aiming for anyway.

The fun way to go in Wayward Son is to have Varric talk crap to the slavers, kill them anyway, then tell Feynriel to turn himself into the circle. You then get friendship points with both Fenris & Varric and rivalry from Anders if he's there too.

With the Night Terrors quest you could also let the demon possess Feynriel. Tevinter wouldn't gain a dreamer-mage but it does let you bargain with a demon for more power and apparently inflict something horrible on Kirkwall later.

Maybe also with Merrill's personal quests regarding the eluvian you could go along with and help her since it is an old Tevinter artifact.

Interesting thou as I understand it, bloodmagic are outlawed in Tevinter as well. The difference are that the rich and powerful can bribe the authorities to look the the way. Average Joe type of mages would still be arrested for doing it. According to Fenris, the concept of stealing slaves are not unheard of, he mention it in one of his personal quests, no need to hand him over to anyone, just keep him if you want.

I forgot about Merril's quest with the eluvian. Thanks for the advice so far everyone. ;) The reason I prefer to hand Fenris back is for the letter you get later from Danarius. He says he'll personally give Hawke a tour of Minrathous if he's ever in Tevinter. To me this sounds like an awesome DLC except not everyone picked the choice of giving up Fenris.

The eluvian is elven, but the Tevinter magisters of old were interested in studying them after Arlathan's fall, so I would imagine present day Tevinter mages being interested in it as well.

I think Hawke in Tevinter could be interesting regardless, considering her/his fame in general in regards to the qunari troubles (also, the Hawke family came from the magister, Parlathan).  A mage Hawke would even be better.

My bad. The Tevinters tried to figure them out but were only able to use them for communicaiton over long distances.
