So I'm doing a playthru with a Female Shepard who is in the progress of romancing Kaidan.  And at Virmire I first choose to sacrifice Kaidan and rescue Ashley.

However when I got back on the Normandy after talking with the council the game's journal just says "Virmire: Assault".

As opposed to this. When I reloaded to the save right before you make your decision on which teammate to save I then choose to save Kaidan and let Ashley DIE.

Then I got "Virmire: Base Destroyed".  Furthermore it says, "you destroyed the base on Virmire but at great cost. Ashley is dead. Her sacrifice was not in vain however...."

Is this just a bug on Bioware's part and the game itself?  Or does it have to do with the fact that I romanced Kaidan or something?  Has this happened to anyone else? 

Just to provide extra detail I sent Kaidan with the Salarians and Ashley was left with the nuke.....
