Excuse me?
Homosexuals have, by bioware, gotten plenty of content in different games which shows that they stuff is not beyond them. The characters in the ME series, however, obviously were not released as being what the vocal homosexual community wanted, so they screamed murder because THIS ONE, this single franchise since they started experimenting with the stuff had more importance on the characters than just stuffing generic 'broadness of appeal' into them.
Making equal? No they are not. Equal is not even a thing that was to be considered int his regard. It is not a game of 'if we add this thing to our game, then we have to add this thing as well in order to make things equal'. Claiming such a thing is wanting litterally crap stroytelling. The characters and the lore were written and released in a state, for 2 full games. Things were established by context. And then everything gets thrown out the window because of a term that is used to strike a dagger through the very heart of creativity and art.
Maybe they want s/s content because they, you know, LIKE Mass Effect? Maybe instead of enforcing some sort of obscure quota, they want to see s/s content to enjoy the game in every way a straight player can, including romances?
Isn't that something to consider?
And the truth is things were never equal and not because of some quota. If both Shepards were simply straight, that would be the end of it. The thing is... they're not. FemSheps had Liara from the start and Kelly in ME2 while male players had nothing. The equality angle wasn't drawn from thin air.
And I'm still having a hard time seeing how a small bit of OPTIONAL content is somehow compromising artistic integrity or the quality of the game. No one forced Bioware to do this and it's not like s/s romances will be plastered all over the game, like some of you make it out to be (for the big deal you make of the issue).
